The white pigment I use is an opaque watercolor - GOUACHE (Holbein) I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting. ♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎😃*****Please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!*****😃♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎♦︎ www.patreon.com/mariamorjane www.mariamorjane.com www.facebook.com/mariamorjane my instagram: @maria_morjane ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎ Most common questions I get and here are some answers: ▶︎What's the difference between cold pressed and hot pressed? Cold pressed is on the rougher side and hot pressed is the smoothest. For example with hot pressed the paint won't sink in as much and will dry faster, vs cold pressed is the most traditional watercolor paper for artists, the paint will sit for a while until it settles and you can do dry brushing. It also dries longer because of all that. They are both fun, I just have been painting mostly on hot pressed because of my style. Hot pressed is good when you can paint faster and when you use a lot of paint. To determine which paper is best for you I think it's a good idea to try out all three kinds, hot pressed, cold pressed and the third kind - rough watercolor paper, this one is super bumpy! ▶︎How long does it take me to finish a painting? Anytime between 40min - 3hrs. It all depends on what I am painting. ▶︎Do I use watercolor in pan or out of tube? I mostly use watercolors out of tubes. I think it helps me in painting with layers. I feel like it's so much easier to create that vibrancy when I can use more paint. ▶︎What are the basic colors, brushes papers I recommend for a beginner? Go to www.mariamorjane.com/my-art-supplies ▶︎What is art masking fluid? It's a fluid (also known as liquid frisket ) that preserves white areas, white areas of the paper where you want to stay white. It's made of some sort of latex. Once you place it on your watercolor paper, on the area you want to stay white, wait until it completely dries before starting to paint. At the end, once your paper is dry, you can peel it off easily with your fingers or using an eraser. ★★★ Music Created by: “Prelude No.13”, “Prelude No.22”, “The temperature of the air on the Bow of the Kaleetan”, "There's probably no time" by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/preludes/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/ "Reawakening" by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) (incompetech.com)

This is a 11x14 acrylic painting I did to see the differences from oil to acrylic. I have done something similar to this in oils a little while back. I like both mediums for different reasons. Oils are much easier to blend out while acrylics are faster drying. It depends what I am looking for that helps me decide which way to go. This is my first ship seascape that I have done. This was done on a 18x24 stretched canvas. Let me apologize in advance for the few blurry scenes that occurred without my knowledge as I was recording. I also had to cut out some very large clips that included painting the ship for the same reason. I will have to check my camera more often so this doesn't happen again in the future. Ever since I can remember I have drawn and painted and told people when I grow up I want to be an artist. It started when I was three years old and scribbled throughout Mums, not quite out of reach, phone-pad. Reinforced itself when I completed my BA - Fine Art Painting from the Victorian College of the Arts and continues to this day. I mainly work with oil paint on canvas applied with palette knives and brushes. My second favourite combination of mediums being watercolours and ink on heavy paper. The main themes that I love to paint and explore in my work are being at the beach, walking through the City, being anywhere while it rains, relaxing at a cafe, or watching boats on the water. This is mainly completed using an Impressionistic approach to appearance, I also experiment in a geometric heavy style borrowing from cubism. People play an important part in my work and are as important as the landscape they find themselves in, this allows me to create narrative and direction for the flow through the image. In 2006 I began working full time as an Artist. Every time I paint I try to better understand why I do what I do and choose the things that I paint, and endeavour to connect to my ideas in a stronger way. I’ve strived to improve my technique every day over the years and continue to, as I still have a long way to go. Thanks for looking!

Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. We must defend our ship At the risk of our lives Canons ! Get ready to fire ! It won't be the end of our quest Ocean of torments, lying in their eyes Visions of sadness, keepers of death Smashing our anchors of iron and dust Throwing our torches, the fire from hell We must be fierce, there is no time to cry This is our time fellows, they have to die ! Lost in their wrath, from the chaos inside their heart They will find their freedom in death In the abyss of infiniteness Look at these fools ! All made of flesh and blood We are thousands of souls ! Archers ! Start bending your bows ! It will be the end of their journey Ocean of torments, lying in their eyes Visions of sadness, keepers of death At the end will remain one of us Gnawed by anger inside They will find their end Consumed by the Darkness Here their fate Great walls of water, surrounding the ship Our reign of terror, will soon find its end Glorious battle, we faced the dark ship Their souls will perish, deep inside the sea Music and Lyrics composed and written by Peter Crowley All right reserved - 2016 -

Keeping with a nautical theme, I've painted another ship. This one a viking ship. I should warn you that this video runs a bit long. I end up at a nice looking ship at the end, but the journey does take over a half an hour. So.... sit back and get ready to spend a little time (or you could skip ahead to see the bits that yo want.) Whether you watch the entire video or bits and pieces, I hope you enjoy what you see. I had a great time painting it. Enjoy the painting and the video. Thanks for checking it out. Please feel free to like and share the video, and subscribe to my channel. I do post videos every week, so be sure to check back again soon. Composed and performed by Ben Cosgrove Artist-at-Sea, Schmidt Ocean Institute, Fall 2016 Cosgrove writes about the piece: When I worked as the artist-at-sea on R/V Falkor last month, it was my first time ever being at sea. Consequently, I found myself totally overwhelmed by the novel exhilaration of being totally surrounded by water: I found it incredible that I could turn around in 360 degrees while standing on the top deck and see nothing but horizon in any direction. I’ve spent most of my career writing music about place, but being on the water put me somewhere for the first time that felt simultaneously like an interstitial area between places – somewhere so impossible for a person to be that all one could do was move through it – and yet in a certain way, like a kind of place itself. As a research vessel, Falkor is constantly collecting information that one could use to articulate and quantify certain aspects of its relation to the land, water, and air around it, and to compose this piece I turned to a data set that I thought would help me highlight two elements of my experience that I found especially affecting. I was interested, first, in how being at sea presented me constantly with the contradictory but simultaneous impressions of utter stillness and constant movement. The horizon may have been impressively, relentlessly flat, but at the same time, all the air was moving, the weather was moving, the water was moving, the sea was full of animals and plants that were moving, and from the minute we left Vietnam, we were moving. To convey this duality, I wanted to write a piece that would shimmer and change and rock back and forth while also impressing upon the listener a strong sense of stillness. I also spent much of my time on board trying to reconcile the experience of this seemingly infinite glassy space with the knowledge that even as we glided along the surface, the land we’d left in Vietnam still continued on far below us, every bit as distinct and topographically diverse as it had been above water. When we stepped on board in the harbor, we'd just arranged to remain at 0': the land kept going and we floated above it. I wanted the piece to somehow reference the fact that even as we drifted through this strange and exceptional vast blue space, we never lost a knowable relationship between our ship and the distant, invisible ground. To both of these ends, I decided to build this piece around a database I pulled together onboard that compared the ship’s speed through water (measured with sensors on the hull) with its simultaneous speed over ground (measured using GPS) at various points during our journey. Although the two speeds are often similar, because of the massive, constantly shifting quantity of liquid that sits between the ship and the ground, they are rarely exactly the same. In composing this piece, I mapped those two speeds to the rhythms of each hand: those rhythms come together and pull apart over the course of the piece, but never stop moving in the same general direction through a broad and open tonal space. The result, I hope, is that what the listener will ultimately perceive is a shifting, undulating texture that will illustrate the influence of the ocean on the ship’s forward motion while also viscerally evoking both the sprawling stillness that one perceives from the deck and the waves that gently and regularly rocked the ship throughout this journey. Ivan Aivazovsky (1817 – 1900) loved the sea. Considered one of the greatest marine artists in history, during his 60-year career he created an astonishing 6,000 beautiful paintings. Sweeping seascapes, golden sunsets, moonlit nights—Aivazovsky surprises and delights. He paints mighty ships of the line ploughing through rough waters at full sail, or drifting in the stillness of a calm sea. He captures the grandeur of the Imperial Russian fleet at anchor in the Black Sea ports. He caresses the canvas with delicate brushwork and translucent layers of diffuse light. Warmed by the rising sun, great buildings appear from behind morning mists. Anchored tall ships sit shrouded in glowing fog. Incandescent moonlight shimmers across the calm waters of Black Sea bays. So admired was his work by Russians, that the saying “worthy of Aivazovsky’s brush” described something “ineffably lovely.” Google Photos Album https://photos.app.goo.gl/SRAfwkuat3wU4YTu7 Music Grey Skies (Steinway & Sons Piano Recording) Lonely Sailing-noota music Northern Sky - Brian Crain 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 🌕 Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FacesofAncientEurope 🦉 Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AncientEurope 🌌 Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/facesofancienteurope/albums 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰 #IvanAivazovsky #RussianArt #ShipsatSea

Over the next 12 months, what is now just a shell of steel works will be transformed into a custom-designed, state of the art-vessel. The new ship will be capable of achieving speeds that far exceed any of the vessels in our current fleet, and will be able to operate in extreme weather conditions. ---- Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine conservation organization that engages in direct action campaigns to defend wildlife, and conserve and protect the world’s oceans from illegal exploitation and environmental destruction.
