Again... Stop It! Stop it! Stop it! When thinking crew (hiring crew) "stop looking at other medium-budget or high-budget Hollywood features' credits". First, you get overwhelmed by the number of people you need and second those people "ain't working with you on your likely "No-Budget", "Micro-Budget", "Guerilla" or "Digital" feature film (you pick what you want to call it) when you have very little money to pay them. Now, let's get real...For you, a first-timer, with little-to-no money and a desire, with a work ethic, to make a Feature Film only need to hire 4-5 "Key People" (important word is "Key") and your crew will magically just appear. Yes, that's correct; to hire a crew you, the Producer, or you the Producer-Director or you the Producer-Writer-Director, or you the Producer-Writer-Director-Actor only need 4-5 people to hire...and your entire crew magically appears...and within the budget (aka: salaries) that you can afford. Here are the 4-5 KEY PEOPLE. 1) DIRECTOR 2) CINEMATOGRAPHER 3) PRODUCTION MANAGER 4) PRODUCTION DESIGNER 5) PRODUCTION COORDINATOR After you have hired these 4-5 Keys then you, the Producer who-got-the-money, allow (aka: tell) these 4-5 Keys to hire the remaining 25 (see yesterday's, Hot Tip January 1, post) individuals who will make your nominal amount of money look like a "Million Dollar Feature Film". So that's it. Hire a Director, probably yourself, then find a "DP, who knows a lot of "PM"s, who between them know a lot of "PD"s and, simultaneously find your "PC" and...tell them how much money you have budgeted for each of the other 25 people (Grip, Gaffer, Craftservice, Prop, etc.) in the crew and it is the job of the 4-5 Keys to hire everyone...that is after you've said "Here's what I'm paying"....and..."It ain't negotiable". A tribute to those who served and died at sea, including Emmanuel Leonard, my late great-uncle from Plymouth, Devon, and of the Royal Navy. NOTE: I apologise for the typo concerning the composer of this hymn. It's John Bacchus Dykes (not Sykes). NHS Band: It Is Well With My Soul - On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss - David R. Holsinger
Performed March 14, 2016 - Northwestern High School Band Horatio Spafford (1828-1888) was a wealthy Chicago lawyer with a thriving legal practice, a beautiful home, a wife, four daughters and a son. He was also a devout Christian and faithful student of the Scriptures. His circle of friends included Dwight L. Moody, Ira Sankey and various other well-known Christians of the day. At the very height of his financial and professional success, Horatio and his wife Anna suffered the tragic loss of their young son. Shortly thereafter on October 8, 1871, the Great Chicago Fire destroyed almost every real estate investment that Spafford had. In 1873, Spafford scheduled a boat trip to Europe in order to give his wife and daughters a much needed vacation and time to recover from the tragedy. He also went to join Moody and Sankey on an evangelistic campaign in England. Spafford sent his wife and daughters ahead of him while he remained in Chicago to take care of some unexpected last minute business. Several days later he received notice that his family's ship had encountered a collision. All four of his daughters drowned; only his wife had survived. With a heavy heart, Spafford boarded a boat that would take him to his grieving Anna in England. It was on this trip that he penned those now famous words, When sorrow like sea billows roll; it is well, it is well with my soul.. Philip Bliss (1838-1876), composer of many songs including Hold the Fort, Let the Lower Lights be Burning, and Jesus Loves Even Me, was so impressed with Spafford's life and the words of his hymn that he composed a beautiful piece of music to accompany the lyrics. The song was published by Bliss and Sankey, in 1876. If you know anything about ancient history then you know there is not one primary source for anything earlier than 1100 AD or CE, are all of those stories about Ceasar, Mark Antony, Cleopatra, made up by academia? to have scholarship and careers? so first, we have to establish just what ancient is. Baalbek is not just some big slabs on the ground it is a Temple city made for and by giants, academia has not one clue as to who even built it, but, they don't even mention the place, I think because they know that whoever it was, was the real Rome. The age it is not known. Velikovsky was all over that. an event like the JFK assassination will happen that opens your eyes to see there is a problem, then eventually there comes a time where you think everything you thought you knew is wrong. Baalbek giants somebody cleaned the place up for nothing to be found there, who? what is or isn't true about anything on Rome or Greece. We are seen as ignorant eaters. Lol, how ancient is ancient history really? a few hundred years? Their formula is simple and straightforward, war-killing-disease = profit, peace-good health- longevity = no profit, too many people, Scaliger has been brought up so I thought to learn a bit about him from a different source etc.After looking at a few sources it looks like he was a real scholar but, standing in the way of those wishing to have their way through the usurping then control of the institutions they threw events much further in the past and succeeded. In the United States, in 1879 the late Rear Adm. Charles Jackson Train, an 1865 graduate of the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis was a lieutenant commander stationed at the Academy in charge of the Midshipman Choir. In that year, Lt. Comdr. Train inaugurated the present practice of concluding each Sunday's Divine Services at the Academy with the singing of the first verse of this hymn. Talkad is an ancient town buried under sand for centuries. A legend surrounds this place. In 1610, Tirumala II of Srirangapattana, a vassal of Vijayanagara empire, was overpowered by Raja Wodeyar of Mysore. Tirumala and his wife Alamelamma retreated to Malingi, a village near Talakad, on the banks of the Cauvery. She took with her the jewels she used to lend to the temple priest twice a week, to adorn the goddess in that temple. Wodeyar thought that the jewels belonged to the temple and ordered its confiscation. Alamelamma would rather die than part with the jewels. She collected the precious ornaments and drowned herself in Cauvery, but not before uttering three curses: "Let Talakad become sand. Let Malingi become a whirlpool. Let the Mysore king fail to beget heirs." Around Talakad, there are sand dunes covering an area of nearly ten square kilometres. The river at Malingi is deep and treacherous and the Mysore kings have not had male heirs for the past many generations.

Here are the opening 4 minutes of Chapter 15 of Kate Chopin's novel The Awakening. Setting: the big house where the Lebrun family serves meals to the guests who rent the cottages. Excitement is in the air since Robert had announced a decision that surprises everyone. Edna, the last to know, learns about Robert's decision in Chapter 15. Why is Edna late to meals? We are told it is a "habit"! The soup is served as soon as she enters the room--the soup may have been getting cold! Is she too selfish to care that others must wait for her despite their hunger? Does she arrive late on purpose so her entrance is dramatic, noteworthy? Perhaps that was part of her training--women in her social class were trained to be fashionably late, never early? If I were hungry, I would think such lateness is rude. Robert is not honest. He knows his decision is a momentous one (so abrupt! he leaves that evening!), yet he acts like it is no big deal. It is part of the mask he feels he must wear. When Edna entered the dining-room one evening a little late, as was her habit, an unusually animated conversation seemed to be going on. Several persons were talking at once, and Victor's voice was predominating, even over that of his mother. Edna had returned late from her bath, had dressed in some haste, and her face was flushed. Her head, set off by her dainty white gown, suggested a rich, rare blossom. She took her seat at table between old Monsieur Farival and Madame Ratignolle. As she seated herself and was about to begin to eat her soup, which had been served when she entered the room, several persons informed her simultaneously that Robert was going to Mexico. She laid her spoon down and looked about her bewildered. He had been with her, reading to her all the morning, and had never even mentioned such a place as Mexico. She had not seen him during the afternoon; she had heard some one say he was at the house, upstairs with his mother. This she had thought nothing of, though she was surprised when he did not join her later in the afternoon, when she went down to the beach. She looked across at him, where he sat beside Madame Lebrun, who presided. Edna's face was a blank picture of bewilderment, which she never thought of disguising. He lifted his eyebrows with the pretext of a smile as he returned her glance. He looked embarrassed and uneasy. "When is he going?" she asked of everybody in general, as if Robert were not there to answer for himself. "To-night!" "This very evening!" "Did you ever!" "What possesses him!" were some of the replies she gathered, uttered simultaneously in French and English. "Impossible!" she exclaimed. "How can a person start off from Grand Isle to Mexico at a moment's notice, as if he were going over to Klein's or to the wharf or down to the beach?" "I said all along I was going to Mexico; I've been saying so for years!" cried Robert, in an excited and irritable tone, with the air of a man defending himself against a swarm of stinging insects. Madame Lebrun knocked on the table with her knife handle. "Please let Robert explain why he is going, and why he is going to-night," she called out. "Really, this table is getting to be more and more like Bedlam every day, with everybody talking at once. Sometimes—I hope God will forgive me—but positively, sometimes I wish Victor would lose the power of speech." Victor laughed sardonically as he thanked his mother for her holy wish, of which he failed to see the benefit to anybody, except that it might afford her a more ample opportunity and license to talk herself. Monsieur Farival thought that Victor should have been taken out in mid-ocean in his earliest youth and drowned. Victor thought there would be more logic in thus disposing of old people with an established claim for making themselves universally obnoxious. Madame Lebrun grew a trifle hysterical; Robert called his brother some sharp, hard names. "There's nothing much to explain, mother," he said; though he explained, nevertheless—looking chiefly at Edna—that he could only meet the gentleman whom he intended to join at Vera Cruz by taking such and such a steamer, which left New Orleans on such a day; that Beaudelet was going out with his lugger-load of vegetables that night, which gave him an opportunity of reaching the city and making his vessel in time. "But when did you make up your mind to all this?" demanded Monsieur Farival. "This afternoon," returned Robert, with a shade of annoyance. "At what time this afternoon?" persisted the old gentleman, with nagging determination, as if he were cross-questioning a criminal in a court of justice.

The vocal range of Kenny Hickey
In light of the success that my vocal range video for Peter Steele has seen, here we have a video for Type O Negative's other vocalist (and guitarist)! Juxtaposing Steele's booming bass voice with his own powerful tenor belt, Kenny Hickey first started doing occasional lead vocals on Type O Negative's The Origin of the Feces album in 1992, and continued to do so on every one of the band's releases thereafter except for 1996's October Rust. In 2003, he and Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly founded their own band, Seventh Void, which made its debut release (with Kenny handling all vocal parts), Heaven Is Gone, in 2009. Seventh Void has continued to tour and perform since Steele's demise and the disbandment of Type O Negative, though they have yet to release a second album. On the whole, Kenny has proven to be a very capable frontman for Seventh Void, and not only demonstrates more of the powerful upper fourth/lower fifth octave singing that he was known for in Type O Negative, but also gives the occasional glimpse of his lower range, something that was largely absent from his previous vocal work. Though he lacks the booming low resonance that Steele was known for, his high range has much more agility and ease than his former bandmate's, sometimes even carrying melodies as high as E5! 1. 0:00 - A nice display of 2+ octaves from the verse of “Shadow on Me”, which starts out with some dark singing down to B2, then climaxes with a powerful C♯5 scream. 2. 0:31 - Strong G♯4s from a performance of “Some Stupid Tomorrow” where Kenny sings the first half of the ending by himself, before being joined by Peter Steele later on in the song. It seems that Type O Negative always used this vocal arrangement for live performances of the song, though as far as I can tell, Peter sings the entire passage by himself on the studio version. 3. 0:52 - The classic A4s from the pre-chorus of “Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare-All)”, one of Type O Negative's most famous tunes. 4. 1:12 - Several sustained A4s from “Closing In”. This kind of heavier belting is very typical for Kenny's work with Seventh Void, as will become apparent later in the video. 5. 1:51 - Easy B♭4s from “Halloween in Heaven”, where Kenny trades off vocals with Peter. This clip really demonstrates the weight difference between their voices, despite the fact that they are both singing in the fourth octave. 6. 2:17 - Some heavy B4 singing from the verse of “Killing You Slow”. 7. 2:42 - Now another classic Kenny passage from a Type O Negative song: the chorus of “September Sun”, with some strong singing up to B4 and a short C♯5. 8. 3:13 - Some intense belting around C5 from “Closing In”. 9. 3:44 - The finale of “An Ode to Locksmiths”, where Kenny repeatedly sings up to C♯5. You can hear him starting to get a bit screamy in this clip, but he still hits the notes as powerfully as ever! 10. 4:14 - Here we have a live performance of “Anesthesia” where Kenny fills in on vocals during the ending to hit the climactic sustained C♯5s, originally sung by Peter. These, among other high notes (such as the sustained B4 from “Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare-All)”), were difficult notes for Peter to pull off live, thus he sometimes had his tenor bandmate sing them instead. 11. 4:53 - Kenny's highest notes on a studio recording: melody lines up to D5 from “These Three Things”. Though his live vocals are quite solid most of the time, this is one passage that I've actually heard him struggle with in certain performances. 12. 5:18 - Now we have a performance of “Shadow on Me” where Kenny takes a passage that originally tops at C5, and takes it a major third higher - singing melody E5s live! 13. 5:39 - A performance of “Halloween in Heaven” where Kenny sings a series of F♯4s in unison with Peter, shouts a few B♭4s, and then screams his way up to an F♯5! Kenny would typically throw in screams up to E♭5/E5 at the end of live performances of this song, but this is by far the highest I've ever heard him take it. 14. 6:02 - Now for a taste of Kenny's seldom-heard lower range, starting with some singing down to E3 from “Drown Inside”, followed by some more of his typical belting up to B4. 15. 6:37 - The opening verse of “Death of a Junkie”, where Kenny sings down to E♭3 under a phaser effect. 16. 7:11 - Some E3s and quick C♯3s from “Drown Inside”, shortly followed by some strong G♯4s. 17. 7:36 - Some dark singing down to D3 and B2 from “Broken Sky”, followed by an octave jump up to more B4s. 18. 8:00 - Kenny's lowest notes to date - several A2s and B2s from a live performance of “Drown Inside”, as well as a sustained B4 afterward. In the studio version of this song, he only bottoms at B2! 19. 8:22 - To conclude, here we have a lengthy clip from “Slow Descent”, featuring lots of Kenny's typical belty B4 singing, followed by some strong C5s and closing off with a powerful nine second B4!

#BookReview #ZidaneHamid #PrinceCaspian # Today Book Review and Summary by little professor is Prince Caspian (originally published as Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia) which is a high fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis, published by Geoffrey Bles in 1951. It was the second published of seven novels in The Chronicles of Narnia (1950–1956), and Lewis had finished writing it in 1949, before the first book was out. The book starts with the Pevensie children, Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund, in England standing at a train station. They are suddenly transported to Narnia where they eventually find the ruins of Cair Paravel, their home for many years when they ruled Narnia. They discover their old artifacts, such as Peter's sword, Susan’s bow, and Lucy’s cordial. However, Susan's horn is not present, as she had left it in the forest when they had returned to England. They determine that despite only leaving Narnia a year ago, in Narnian years, this is equivalent to about 1300 years. They then witness soldiers attempting to drown a dwarf by the name of Trumpkin. After saving him, Trumpkin reveals that a new race of men now rule Narnia, known as the Telemarines. Their presence has led to the talking beasts retreating to the woods and losing their ability to communicate with man. The ruler of the Telemarines is known as King Miraz, but his nephew, Prince Caspian is the true king. Trumpkin reveals that King Miraz had killed his brother King Caspian IX in order to take the throne for himself. Prince Caspian had no knowledge of the fact that Miraz only kept him around because he had no personal heir himself. But, Miraz' wife had recently had a son, and now he no longer needs Prince Caspian as his heir. Prince Caspian's tutor, Doctor Cornelius, told him of this and gave him Queen Susan's horn should he ever need to call for help. He managed to escape the Telemarines but was taken unconscious after slamming into a tree branch by Trumpkin and Nikabrik, two dwarves who believed him to be their true King. The dwarves and Prince Caspian met with the other creatures of Narnia in the woods, but later Doctor Cornelius found them and warned them that Miraz had sent the Telemarines after them. They all escape to Aslan's How near Cair Paravel. The Telemarines and Narnians engaged in warfare and the Narnians deliberated whether to blow Susan's horn. They sent Trumpkin to Cair Paravel, where he was captured by Telemarines. This is when he met the Pevensies, because the horn was blown indeed. Trumpkin and the Pevensies travel to Cair Paravel and, on the way, Lucy spots Aslan. She determines that Aslan was trying to show them an easier path, but they ignore her and continue on their more dangerous and difficult path. However, in the night, Aslan comes to Lucy and informs her that they must follow his path, which they all do. They then see Aslan in the flesh. Aslan tells Trumpkin, Edmund and Peter to continue on to Aslan's How, where the fighting is issuing. They arrive there, but witness Nikabrik and his accomplices trying to summon Jadis, the White Witch, to help them win the battle as this would be the lesser of two evils. However, they are killed before they can do so. Peter and Miraz engage in a single combat, which Miraz loses. However, his allies, Lord Glozelle and Lord Sopespian falsely accuse Peter of cheating. They continue the fighting, and it is Glozelle who then stabs Miraz in the back. Aslan, Lucy and Susan travel to awaken the Gods Bacchus and Silenus to help the Narnians in the war effort. They ensure that the Narnians win the battle and the Telemarines surrender in defeat. Aslan offers the Telemarines a chance to stay under Caspian's rule in Narnia or return to Earth where they originated from. The Pevensies go through the portal to assure the Telemarines and return to the railway station where the story began. So this is the book review and book summary by Zidane Hamid.
