I love this stuff. I've been doing this since I learned how yeasts anearobically ferment. Every kind of alcohol gives a different drunk, homebrew is unique. You can also use fining agents (e.g. gelatine) to get rid of the debris at the end. It may take a couple of rounds of cooling/decanting to get rid of it. please drink responsibly and follow your local and federal laws. I cannot be held responsible for any misuse of this video for excessive intoxication or illegal activity. Proceed at your own risk. I also highly recommend not to alter this process so as to attempt an increase in alcohol percent (e.g. distilling) as it may yield poisonous levels of methanol. This video is for scientific education purposes to demonstrate the applications of anaerobic fermentation. download the written instructions here: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B0Din0Zhz7aKMDE4OGJkMzMtN2QzNi00YjU0LWI2YTYtODY1OGM5ZGI0ZmQ3&hl=en

REUPLOADED DUE TO SOUND ISSUE. Note: For a sugar wash, you probably don't need to sterilize anything. Just wash it with soap and water. The presence of other microbes can alter the taste if you plan to drink it. This is a very basic way that you can make your own DRINKABLE ethanol at home. The main premise of this video is to show just how simple and easy it is to ferment your own alcohol. In a future video, I will try to dispel some myths regarding homebrewing, such as the exaggerated risk of methanol poisoning. I will also demonstrate how easy and safe it can be to distill your own ethanol from the wash that you produce. In this video, I prepare a sugar wash (fermentation of sugar only). The process is similar to the preparation of wine or beer, but uses pure table sugar instead of a variety of different sugars, fruits or other additives. Also, more yeast is used in order to speed things up a little. The final product should be ready in a week or two. If you want to drink it, you can. Just clear it first using a clearing solution and clean the taste up using activated carbon. It still won't taste very good though. NOTE: Be aware that there are some things that when added might be dangerous. So, please, if you decide to add something to the fermentation, please verify beforehand that it is safe. Here are some calculators to calculate how much sugar you need to make a certain amount of alcohol. http://homedistiller.org/sugar/wash-sugar/yield

I've been trying to brew beer at home. Here in Qatar, beer is available from a single outlet (QDC) and it is very expensive. I had heard expats in Saudi Arabia brew their own beer from scratch, and that is what I am trying here. In this batch, I poured 2 non-alcoholic beers into a sterilized air-tight fermenter and pour in a little more than 2 teaspoons of baker's yeast and maybe a tablespoon of sugar. i let it ferment for a week and then bottled it and let it sit for another week. What you see here tastes fairly strong, maybe around 8% alcohol or so (just a rough estimate based on the flavour). Anyway, the beer tasted terrible and I didn't finish more than a few sips before pouring it down the drain. I'm going to try a few different arrangements and post the results here to this channel. How to drink and NEVER get drunk: The simple trick that stops alcohol affecting you We have all been out for a few drinks and then regretted having one too many and making a fool of ourselves. But now, a brewer has revealed a trick which could put an end to drunken fights and alcohol-fuelled embarrassments. The co-founder of the Boston Beer Company, Jim Koch, says he has a trick which allows people to drink all night without getting drunk. Mr Koch says yeast is the key to staying sober while drinking. In an interview with Esquire he revealed that he swallows dry yeast before he drinks and that this stops him getting drunk. He says the trick is to take one teaspoon of yeast per drink before starting drinking. He added that you can make it more palatable by stirring it into yoghurt. And, he also explained that it can easily be purchased in grocery stores. Mr Koch says active dry yeast contains an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenases which breaks down alcohol. He says it transforms the alcohol molecules into carbon, hydrogen and oxygen - this is also what happens when the liver breaks down alcohol. As a result, swallowing yeast before drinking means alcohol is broken down before it reaches the brain and causes drunkenness. However, Mr Koch warns that it does not completely eliminate the effects of alcohol -- it just reduces them.

The LONG OVERDUE video on how TO DRINK, but not get DRUNK. Here's how you can finally drink all night without getting drunk. How To DRINK And NOT Get Drunk - What NO ONE Is Telling You: SUBSCRIBE https://www.youtube.com/owolabbyazeez?sub_confirmation=1 ========================== The brain is largely misunderstood. When we usually make our first efforts to quit an addiction (alcohol, p*rn, marijuana, cigarette or even food), we usually try to fight or suppress our cravings when they happen. But did you know that science reveals this makes the problem worse because it puts our limbic system (survival part of the brain) into fight or flight mode? Strategy, not force is the way we can overcome addiction. When a craving hits, you need to know how to respond to it so that it can diminish quickly...DISCOVER the proven techniques that eliminate addiction problems so you can live a better life. https://bit.ly/2C8CKJr How To STOP Drinking Alcohol - How To Handle Your Liquor Playlist: https://bit.ly/2DekX5N In this video, I walk you through some tips for staying sober(ish) next time you're out drinking. You may not want to get WASTED like you used to or may not want to experience it at all for that matter. You probably just want to get a little buzz without getting fully intoxicated by alcohol. The general guide that this video covers to avoid getting drunk the first time you drink is to EAT before you drink, PACE yourself and drink WATER after your alcohol/beer session! Video goes into a lot more detail. Guide to Drinking a lot but not getting drunk 1. Pace Yourself For every glass or shot of alcohol you drink have a full glass of water. Putting roadblocks in between each drink prevents you from getting carried away. 2. Eat Before Or As You're Drinking Food reduces how quickly alcohol gets absorbed in your body. Ideally you want to eat food that is greasy, fatty, protein and meat rich, or eat carbs. Eating these types of food before drinking will keep you full and drastically reduce the pace at which you get drunk. 3. DO NOT Mix Alcoholic Drinks Keep in mind that mixing drinks means you'll be mixing different chemicals. As a result your body has a varying degree of reactions to these kind of combinations which tend to make you drunk quicker. 4. DO NOT Leave Your Drink Unattended Some people may try to get you roofied with evil intentions while other may just try to put stuff in your drink in the name of "helping you get lit" 5. Don't Drink At All Simply have a cup of soda or regular alcohol free alternative beverages. Please Subscribe for 3x Videos Per Week + Live Broadcasts! http://ThomasDeLauer.com How Alcohol Affects a Ketogenic Diet: Carbs- Thomas DeLauer Ketosis and Alcohol: Alcohol is metabolized by several processes or pathways. The most common of these pathways involves two enzymes - alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase. (ALDH) These enzymes help break apart the alcohol molecule, making it possible to eliminate it from the body. First, ADH metabolizes alcohol to acetaldehyde, a highly toxic substance and known carcinogen. Then, in a second step, acetaldehyde is further metabolized down to another, less active byproduct, acetate, which then is broken down into water and carbon dioxide for easy elimination. Acetaldehyde has the potential to cause significant damage in the liver, where the bulk of alcohol metabolism takes place. Some alcohol metabolism also occurs in other tissues, including the pancreas and the brain, causing damage to cells and tissues. Additionally, small amounts of alcohol are metabolized to acetaldehyde in the gastrointestinal tract, exposing these tissues to acetaldehyde’s damaging effects. Drinking and Ketosis: Not all alcoholic beverages are the same, but alcohol is the same across the board; it’s a macronutrient with seven calories per gram and a byproduct of fermentation. Essentially, a sugar compound is acted upon by yeast and the yeast produces alcohol and carbon dioxide. Can Slow Weight Loss: You can still drink and stay in ketosis, however, it can slow down weight loss and fat loss. The liver will start to process alcohol as quickly as possible, which means it’s used by the body before all other nutrients - alcohol will be burned off before your body resumes burning fat for energy as the alcohol you intake will start to be metabolized immediately. Having a drink means you’ll convert less fatty acids to ketones, meaning there’s less fat being burned in the process - so alcohol will temporarily reduce new ketone formation. This is because fatty acids are oxidized to make the ketones, and alcohol suppresses fatty acid oxidation. However, it's still not the same as eating too many carbs, because it only stops the burning of fat; it doesn't reverse the process by raising insulin levels and shifting the body into fat storage mode. As soon as the alcohol is gone, your body should go right back to burning fat. Get Drunk Quicker: You’ll also notice your alcohol tolerance is lower when eating a keto diet, especially if you incorporate fasting. Since someone following a low-carb diet will have their glycogen stores depleted and will be running on fats instead of glucose, the alcohol will be metabolized by the liver much faster than someone with high glycogen stores to burn through. You won’t have the carbs to soak up the alcohol. Safe Drinks: You need to be mindful of carbs, particularly in beer, as excessive consumption could kick you out of ketosis. Hard alcohol: (Not usually made with added sugars or flavorings, so it’s a good default zero-carb choice.) Tequila, vodka, etc. Safe Chasers: Diet tonic water, Seltzer water, and Erythritol or stevia instead of sugar Wines: Red: Cabernet Sauvignon (3.8 grams), Merlot (3.7 grams) Whites: Sauvignon Blanc (2.7 grams), Chardonnay (3.7 grams) Beer: For beers, choose light options like: Rolling Rock Green Light: 2.4 carbs Natural Light: 3.2 carbs Miller Lite: 3.2 carbs References: Alcohol's Effects on the Body | National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). A 61-year-old Texas man's blood alcohol level reached 0.37 percent or 5 times the limit for alcohol while driving -- even though he never drank a drop. Ever heard of someone spontaneously getting drunk without ingesting any alcohol? In another documented case of auto-brewery syndrome, a 61-year-old Texas man's blood alcohol level reached 0.37 percent or approximately 5 times the limit for alcohol while driving in Texas ...even though he never drank a drop. According to his doctors, he would get drunk at any given time; his wife even suspected he was secretly getting drunk and bought a breathalyzer. Doctors monitored him in a hospital room for 24 hours. In one day of eating carbohydrates and periodically getting his blood checked, his blood alcohol rose to 0.12 percent at one point. They concluded an overgrowth of brewer's yeast was feeding off the sugar and fermenting it into alcohol. While supposedly rare cases of auto-brewery syndrome date back to the 1970s, a 1990 study showed that it was common in 61 percent of people with various chronic illnesses. In her book Lick the Sugar Habit, Nancy Appleton, PhD lists 146 ways that sugar in various forms can harm your health. A few of these include mental and behavioral problems, increased cholesterol, decreased eyesight, food allergies, damaged DNA, and spreading cancer.

It's called "Pruno" -- the alcoholic concoction of fruit, sugar water and other ingredients made by prison inmates in their cell, and we asked one of our producers on HLN News Now to make a version of it. Our producer mashed up a bag of peeled oranges, and added some fruit cocktail and water. After a few days, he added in sugar and ketchup packets to feed the yeast. After several days, the contents of the bag were strained and ready to taste. In your gut there is a garden of bacteria that depend on balance to keep you healthy. If these bacteria get out of balance, you may experience digestive distress and something else really strange. Auto-brewery syndrome results when a particular type of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) grows out of control. This can result in a condition where your gut acts like an internal brewery leaving you tipsy without even consuming a drop of alcohol.

Facebook https://goo.gl/EClOZ9 Instagram https://goo.gl/CmEptO Pinterest https://goo.gl/Kuxz0c -------------------------------------------------Transcript-------------------------------------------------- The different yeasts out there, you got pretty much the top fermenters which is your ale yeast, your bottle fermenter which is your lager yeast and over here you got your wild yeast which is a whole different animal. Over the years in all the regions- traditional regions where beer started, they found the ones that tastes good and the ones that tastes bad. So over the years and years, they’ve been isolating and they got your beers transit to the breweries. We use primarily ale yeast here, the tope fermenters. They work in warm temperatures. The blager yeasts or your bottom fermenters, they work in a cooler temperature. Not so much acticity in the fermenter, they foam up and crop up like it’s yeast spilling out of the fermenter like out of home or what not. They just go everywhere. And then your wild yeats for your sour beers. We don’t really deal with them too much here. Beer style governs your yeast choice. If we’re gonna brew our double IPA that we’re canning right now, we use a clean accentual hop accentuating yeast. Good attenuation, really dries the beer out. If we’re gonna brew an amber, we’d use a less tenured yeast and leave a little malt behind. That’s the beauty with the yeast, you got your good temperature which you want to work in the range that they say is the opt of the lab. They tell you what the optimum range is. You get too warm, you’ll get a few hits if alcohols not just ethanol but different alcohols which are boozy, not so attractive flavor. If it’s too cold, they’ll just go to sleep. You find that right fermentation range and you choose the right yeast for the job.

Do you eat bread? Or drink beer? If so you've probably consumed yeast products from the National Collection of Yeast Cultures. Yeasts are one of the earliest, if not the earliest, biological tools used by people. Brewers' yeast, Saccharomyces cerivisae, features widely in products we consume daily in our billions across the world, but these ancient unicellular fungi are poised to become a defining organism of the modern era. Yeast can be used in biorefineries to make biofuels for transport as well as platform chemicals for a variety of medical and industrial processes. Moreover, yeast are a key model organism in the emerging field of synthetic biology, and engineered or even reconstructed artificial strains may be manufacturing the fuels, food and pharmaceuticals of the future. I'm resurrecting this nerdy drinking song from last year... As many of you perceptive viewers noticed there were a couple alcohol-induced scientific errors in my last version of this song (gold star, perceptive viewers!) -- so I thought this St. Patrick's day would be a perfect time to correct them. Lyrics: In the year of our lord eighteen hundred and eleven On March the seventeenth day I will raise up a beer and I'll raise up a cheer For Saccharomyces cerevisiae Here's to brewers yeast, that humblest of all beasts Producing carbon gas reducing acetaldehyde But my friends that isn't all -- it makes ethyl alcohol That is what the yeast excretes and that's what we imbibe Anaerobic isolation Alcoholic fermentation NADH oxidation Give me a beer [CHORUS] My intestinal wall absorbs that ethanol And soon it passes through my blood-brain barrier There's a girl in the next seat who I didn't think that sweet But after a few drinks I want to marry her I guess it's not surprising, my dopamine is rising And my glutamate receptors are all shot I'd surely be bemoaning all the extra serotonin But my judgment is impaired and my confidence is not Allosteric modulation No Long Term Potentiation Hastens my inebriation Give me a beer [CHORUS] When ethanol is in me, some shows up in my kidneys And inhibits vasopressin by degrees A decrease in aquaporins hinders water re-absorption And pretty soon I really have to pee Well my liver breaks it down so my body can rebound By my store of glycogen is soon depleted And tomorrow when I'm sober I will also be hungover Cause I flushed electrolytes that my nerves and muscles needed Diuretic activation Urination urination Urination dehydration Give me a beer [CHORUS] CHORDS Intro: D DAG / bm A D D A G / bm A G D G D A G / G D G A G D A bm / G D A D Pre - chorus: G D A bm / G D A Chorus (Li-Diddly-I): G D A bm A G D A D Verse: D DAG / Bm A D D A G / Bm A G D G D A G / bm A G D A bm / G D A D
