Late in 2016, we had the honour of singing with Colin Hay, the incredible talent behind Australian 80s band Men At Work. Hundreds came out to learn our backups to his smash hit "Overkill" at Brooklyn's The Hall At MP. We rehearsed the parts and then Colin came out to sing lead. And then he gave a private concert for everyone in the room (with Colin's approval we'll get those vids up too) If you love this one as much as we do, share it widely! Colin's new album Fierce Mercy is due out March 3, 2017 on Compass Records. You can pre-order it at http://www.colinhay.com/ + check out his US tour dates here http://www.colinhay.com/tour Keep up with us at choirchoirchoir.com. We are about to hit the West Coast (SF, Portland, Vancouver + LA) for some Choir! sessions. http://www.choirchoirchoir.com/home#/on-tour/ Hope to see you there!

Significance: Track 2 from the album Man @ Work ©2003 Colin Hay is best known as the Lead Singer for Men @ Work. The album is essentially a career-retrospective for Colin, roughly half of the tracks are solo studio renderings from the works of Men @ Work. My song pick for Friday morning (08/30/13).

As a kid, I would go to my Grandma’s house and watch classic Men At Work videos on MTV. I always loved the chord progression & guitar solo from their song “Overkill”. Now fast-forward all of these years, I got to share the stage with Men At Work’s lead singer/songwriter Colin Hay, and play an unrehearsed round of Overkill with the man himself! So surreal. Here’s the video of that performance - ENJOY! Filmed/recorded August 10, 2017 - Chautauqua Auditorium - Boulder, CO Filmed by Rodney Braman www.ColinHay.com www.TraceBundy.com

The full version of Colin Hay's remake of Overkill from his CD Man at Work. The pictures took me a while, but I wouldn't bother spending much time on them if I were you. There's a large blank space at the end, ignore that. Overall hope you enjoy! PLEASE comment! Lots of love, Jess.

This interview aired on MTV's Fast Forward back in 1983 when Men at Work were promoting the album Cargo. I apologize for the poor sound in places . . . I actually had to restore some of the audio from the Cargo World Premiere radio interview. There were segments I couldn't replace so I boosted the sound as best I could. The sound levels out in the second half, fortunately.

Featured on the Scrubs soundtrack, this version is a little faster, but much clearer... Colin Hay, formerly of Men at Work (hence the play on words in the title of the album on which this was performed, Man @ Work), has an exceptional gift for playing the acoustic versions of 80's hits that I remember but hadn't heard in ages. The new spin on his old band's sound, with the use of minimal electronic anything and some interesting additions, create a fresh new sound. This song is, perhaps, somewhat of an acoustic guitar tribute (at least it immediately brought the song to mind for me) to one of the greatest, yet ironic and ultimately sad, songs ever written, 'What a Wonderful World' by 'Ol' Satchmo'. Enjoy!
