What is the querySelector method in JavaScript? | Document.querySelector() Explained

06:41
In JavaScript, the 'querySelectorAll' method allows you to retrieve a list of Elements that match the CSS Selector that you specify. Essentially, it is a way of finding Elements in JavaScript. It's quitee flexible and lets you search for tags, classes, IDs, parent/child combinations, attributes and so on. In this video I show you a clear and simple example of how it works on the 'document' object as well as another Parent Node - to only search within that parent. Javascript Selectors - Javascript Tutorial for Beginners With Examples

11:19
In this Javascript tutorial for beginners, we're going to be using Javascript selectors to access the DOM (document object model) and interact with our webpage in realtime. Selectors allow us to search for elements in the web page, get those html elements, and do things with them. Selector methods are: document.getElementsByTagName('div') document.getElementsByClassName('done') document.getElementById('my-id') document.querySelector('#my-id') document.querySelectorAll('.classname') Once you have selected an html element, you can modify it: document.getElementById('my-id').innerHTML = "new html" document.getElementById('my-id').className = "newclass otherclass" Hopefully you liked this javascript tutorial for beginners with examples (hopefully you like every web development tutorial I crank out) As you can see, selectors are powerful in Javascript and even if you're a javascript beginner, you can make any and every change to your web page. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Learning Web Development? These attribute selectors can also be used as values in the document.querySelector or document.querySelectorAll methods to target elements with JavaScript. JavaScript Tutorial - CSS selectors - querySelectorAll

15:04
Selectors, which are widely used in CSS, are patterns that match against elements in a tree structure. The Selectors API specification defines methods for retrieving Element nodes from the DOM by matching against a group of selectors, and for testing if a given element matches a particular selector. partial interface Document { Element? querySelector(DOMString selectors); NodeList querySelectorAll(DOMString selectors); } partial interface DocumentFragment { Element? querySelector(DOMString selectors); NodeList querySelectorAll(DOMString selectors); } partial interface Element { Element? querySelector(DOMString selectors); NodeList querySelectorAll(DOMString selectors); } The querySelector() methods on the Document, DocumentFragment, and Element interfaces must return the first matching Element node within the subtrees of the context object. If there is no matching Element, the method must return null. The querySelectorAll() methods on the Document, DocumentFragment, and Element interfaces must return a NodeList containing all of the matching Element nodes within the subtrees of the context object, in tree order. If there are no matching nodes, the method must return an empty NodeList. The NodeList object returned by the querySelectorAll() method must be static. https://github.com/webtunings https://www.facebook.com/pages/WebTunings/339234242822202 I highly recommend this book for beginners as well as advanced programmers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0596805527/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0596805527&linkCode=as2&tag=webtuningscom-20

JavaScript DOM Tutorial - Element.matches()

You can use the matches() method within the JavaScript Document Object Model (DOM) to check whether or not an element "matches" a query selector. You may or may not find this useful within your own personal projects but I think it has its place when trying to interface with a third party library. In this video I show you a nice and quick example of how to use this method. Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/dcode - with enough funding I plan to develop a website of some sort with a new developer experience! Top 3 Don't-Need-jQuery

21:49
You don’t NEED jQuery today. Let’s look at the three things you totally can accomplish without dropping in the jQuery library on your app or site. $.ajax(), $().ready() and the jQuery DOM selector. This is DevTips with David. document.querySelector() https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Document/querySelector https://caniuse.com/#feat=queryselector DOMContentLoaded https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Events/DOMContentLoaded https://caniuse.com/#feat=domcontentloaded fetch() https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Fetch_API/Using_Fetch https://caniuse.com/#feat=fetch CodePen used in the video https://codepen.io/devtips/pen/VXbqqo jQuery pushed Web 2.0 forward. But today the web has caught up. It wasn’t trivial to query the DOM ten years ago. jQuery solved that. It also has a handy wait-for-the-DOM-to-load call. And it had handy features such as toggles for checkboxes, making AJAX requests (which are asynchronous JavaScript calls to other resources such as other JavaScript or XML or HTML documents), picking up form values, changing styles, or manipulate the DOM. If you wanted to build something slightly more advanced back in the days, you almost needed jQuery. Today, you don't. jQuery did things well. But I see people use it still and its fine. It just bugs me that today they could just as well NOT drop in that pretty big library, if all they want to do is either DOM selection, AJAX XHR fetching or waiting for the document to load.

javascript tutorial - selector in JavaScript and changing html content in JavaScript

15:56
In this video, I have discussed on selectors in javascript and how can we change content via js. resource file link https://github.com/polodev/javascript_selector_yt_bangla Javascript selector JavaScript has 2 types of selector scalar selector will return single element composite selector will return array of elements. some elements are unique in html page. like head, body, title, id etc. In this case we will get single element from selector. However in case of tag and class we will get array of element since they can be occur more than one times in html page. So whenever we found array of elements we have to extract single element from array of elements to change them. 5 css selector where first 4 is supported by querySelector and querySelectorAll tag (body) id (#hello) class (.hello) attribute([id='hello']) pseudo(a:hover) some selector which will give us single element document.body document.head document.getElementById('some_id') document.querySelector('any of first 4 css selector from state above list') some selector which will give us array of elements document.getElementsByClassName('html class') document.getElementsByTagName('htmltag') document.querySelectorAll('any of first 4 css selector from state above list') modern javascript selector querySelector and querySelectorAll document.querySelector('css selector') its a scaler type selector in js dom. it will return single element which can be change directly. It will take css selector(first 4 from state above css selector list) as argument document.querySelectorAll('css selector'); its a composite type selector in js dom. It will return array of elements. So in order to change a element we have to extract single element by their index. It will take css selector(first 4 from state above css selector list) as argument

11:22
[Learn Code]Javascript Selectors - Javascript Tutorial for Beginners With Examples. In this Javascript tutorial for beginners, we're going to be using Javascript selectors to access the DOM (document object model) and interact with our webpage in realtime. Selectors allow us to search for elements in the web page, get those html elements, and do things with them. Selector methods are: document.getElementsByTagName('div') document.getElementsByClassName('done') document.getElementById('my-id') document.querySelector('#my-id') document.querySelectorAll('.classname') Once you have selected an html element, you can modify it: document.getElementById('my-id').innerHTML = "new html" document.getElementById('my-id').className = "newclass otherclass" Hopefully you liked this javascript tutorial for beginners with examples (hopefully you like every web development tutorial I crank out) As you can see, selectors are powerful in Javascript and even if you're a javascript beginner, you can make any and every change to your web page.SUBSCRIBE for more!
