DDL Triggers in sql server

12:31
ddl trigger example ddl trigger example in sql server ddl triggers can be used to In this video we will discuss DDL Triggers in sql server. In SQL Server there are 4 types of triggers 1. DML Triggers - Data Manipulation Language. Discussed in Parts 43 to 47 of SQL Server Tutorial. 2. DDL Triggers - Data Definition Language 3. CLR triggers - Common Language Runtime 4. Logon triggers What are DDL triggers DDL triggers fire in response to DDL events - CREATE, ALTER, and DROP (Table, Function, Index, Stored Procedure etc...). For the list of all DDL events please visit https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb522542.aspx Certain system stored procedures that perform DDL-like operations can also fire DDL triggers. Example - sp_rename system stored procedure What is the use of DDL triggers If you want to execute some code in response to a specific DDL event To prevent certain changes to your database schema Audit the changes that the users are making to the database structure Syntax for creating DDL trigger CREATE TRIGGER [Trigger_Name] ON [Scope (Server|Database)] FOR [EventType1, EventType2, EventType3, ...], AS BEGIN -- Trigger Body END DDL triggers scope : DDL triggers can be created in a specific database or at the server level. The following trigger will fire in response to CREATE_TABLE DDL event. Use SampleDB Go CREATE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'New table created' END To check if the trigger has been created 1. In the Object Explorer window, expand the SampleDB database by clicking on the plus symbol. 2. Expand Programmability folder 3. Expand Database Triggers folder Please note : If you can't find the trigger that you just created, make sure to refresh the Database Triggers folder. When you execute the following code to create the table, the trigger will automatically fire and will print the message - New table created Create Table Test (Id int) The above trigger will be fired only for one DDL event CREATE_TABLE. If you want this trigger to be fired for multiple events, for example when you alter or drop a table, then separate the events using a comma as shown below. ALTER TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE AS BEGIN Print 'A table has just been created, modified or deleted' END Now if you create, alter or drop a table, the trigger will fire automatically and you will get the message - A table has just been created, modified or deleted. The 2 DDL triggers above execute some code in response to DDL events (CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE). Now let us look at an example of how to prevent users from creating, altering or dropping tables. To do this modify the trigger as shown below. ALTER TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON Database FOR CREATE_TABLE, ALTER_TABLE, DROP_TABLE AS BEGIN Rollback Print 'You cannot create, alter or drop a table' END To be able to create, alter or drop a table, you either have to disable or delete the trigger. To disable trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Disable" from the context menu 2. You can also disable the trigger using the following T-SQL command DISABLE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE To enable trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Enable" from the context menu 2. You can also enable the trigger using the following T-SQL command ENABLE TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE To drop trigger 1. Right click on the trigger in object explorer and select "Delete" from the context menu 2. You can also drop the trigger using the following T-SQL command DROP TRIGGER trMyFirstTrigger ON DATABASE Certain system stored procedures that perform DDL-like operations can also fire DDL triggers. The following trigger will be fired when ever you rename a database object using sp_rename system stored procedure. CREATE TRIGGER trRenameTable ON DATABASE FOR RENAME AS BEGIN Print 'You just renamed something' END The following code changes the name of the TestTable to NewTestTable. When this code is executed, it will fire the trigger trRenameTable sp_rename 'TestTable', 'NewTestTable' The following code changes the name of the Id column in NewTestTable to NewId. When this code is executed, it will fire the trigger trRenameTable sp_rename 'NewTestTable.Id' , 'NewId', 'column' Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/ddl-triggers-in-sql-server.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/09/ddl-triggers-in-sql-server_9.html All SQL Server Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-sql-server-video-tutorials-for.html All SQL Server Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/sql-server.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

Oracle Database 12c Security - Oracle Virtual Private Database (VPD)

12:29
Learn how to use Oracle Virtual Private Database (VPD) to secure your data. See all lessons at http://skillbuilders.com/12c-TSDP-Tutorial First, Virtual Private Database. What is it? Answer: It's a declarative technique for enforcing security. Typically, it's based on user application context. That was the first limitation of 8i. Backed with 8i context were session-specific. The context variables were sort in the PGA. That means you simply couldn't use this in a web environment. However, global context, with use of 9i, Virtual Private Database became usable for web applications with connection pooling. But whether you're using it to client server or on a three tier environment, it's declarative technique rather than a programmatic technique. I can go behind the back of the application as a DBA and generate predicates to get appended to all SQLs. Select, insert, update, delete the end users. Issue the SQL and I will generate a predicate that filters the access. It's impossible to bypass. All users will have predicates appended to all their code. It doesn't matter whether they're using SQL Plus, Discoverer, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, eBusiness Suites, whatever they're using, I as DBA can filter their access to roles. The end result, different users see different data sets while running the same code and accessing the same tables, hence, the name Virtual Private Database. Different users will think they're seeing a totally different set of tables, but in fact it's one column database, one set of tables hosting a single application shared by all the users. The mechanism - you can apply VPD to tables, to views, to synonyms, and a declarative technique. Once the technique you write a function that generates the predicate, you associate the function with the table. From then on whenever the user issue SQL against that table the Cost-Based Optimizer rewrites the code. The Cost-Based Optimizer rewrites the user SQL to call the function to generate the predicate. The predicate is then appended to the SQL and it's the modified SQL that is parsed and executed. Let's see how this actually works. I'm working here by the way. This is just a perfectly normal 12.1 database. But what I'm going to demonstrate at this point will in fact work on 11g as well. I'm not going to be using any of the 12c enhancements to VPD for this little demonstration. I'll work in the scott schema. What do we have to do? We write a function to generate the predicate string. Create function. And I'll my function vpdf. The function must conform to a fixed specification. It must take two varchar arguments. One of the arguments is intended to be the schema to which the function will be applied. The other argument is the object within the schema to which the function will be applied. And it must return a varchar2, which is the generated predicate. Let's begin. Within this function you can do just about anything. There are some limitations. It's impossible for the function to query or update the table against which the VPD calls here is going to be applied or we violate the rules of purity that we come across so often with PL/SQL. But apart from that, it can do just about anything - including a number of dreadful side effects can be introduced by writing VPD functions. I'm going to do a very simple one on this one. I'll shall simple return immediately a predicate. What predicate? Ename, which is the ename column from this scott.emp table. Ename should equal sys_context. I'll go to the local context, my user end context, and just extract session user. We can see that John has tested this earlier today and therefore the object already was suggesting and he's just dropping it now and cleaning up the recreate. I hope you realize these really are live demonstrations. I'm not just running scripts. I've created a function. What's that function going to do? It's going to return this value here. Test it. Always test it and see what it's actually going to do. I'll select vpdf. I have to give it a couple of arguments. This one will do for now.

Step 1: Create and populate Employee table. Step 2: Create Insert, Update and Delete stored procedures Step 3: Create a new empty asp.net web application Step 4: Add a new ADO.NET Entity Data Model. a) On Choose Model Contents screen select "Generate from database" option and click Next b) On "Choose Your Data Connections" screen give a meaningful name for the connection string that will be stored in the web.config file. I have named it EmployeeDBContext. Click Next. c) On "Choose Your Database Objects" screen, select Employees Table and the 3 strored procedures (InsertEmployee, UpdateEmployee, DeleteEmployee). Provide a meaningful name for the Model namespace. I have named it EmployeeModel. CLick Finish. At this point on the ADO.NET Entity Model designer surface, we should be able to see the Employee entity but not the stored procedures. To view the stored procedures, 1. Right click on entity model designer surface and select "Model Broswer" from the context menu. 2. Expand Stored Procedures folder Step 5: Add a webform to the project. Drag and drop the following 3 controls and build the solution. 1. GridView 2. DetailsView 3. EntityDataSource Step 6: Configure EntityDataSource control a). Right click on EntityDataSource control and select "Show Smart Tag" option b) Click on Configure Data Source link c) Select EmployeeDBContext from the Named Connection dropdownlist and click Next d) Select the options on "Configure Data Selection" screen as shown in the video Step 7: Configure GridView control a). Right click on GridView control and select "Show Smart Tag" option b) Click on "Auto Format" link and select "Colourful" scheme c) Select "EntityDataSource1" from "Choose Data Source" dropdownlist d) Select Enable Editing and Enable Deleting checkboxes Step 8: Configure DetailsView control a) Right click on DetailsView control and select "Show Smart Tag" option b) Click on "Auto Format" link and select "Colourful" scheme c) Select "EntityDataSource1" from "Choose Data Source" dropdownlist d) Select Enable Inserting checkbox e) Set DeafultMode=Insert. Use properties window to set this. f) Set InsertVisible="false" for the ID BoundField. You can do this directly in the HTML Source. g) Generate ItemInserted event handler method for DetailsView control. Copy and paste the following code. protected void DetailsView1_ItemInserted(object sender, DetailsViewInsertedEventArgs e) { GridView1.DataBind(); } At this point if you run the application, and if you insert, update and delete employees, by default entity framework will use the sql it autogenerates and not our custom stored procedures. To tell the entity framework to use the stored procedures, we have to map them to the Employee entity. Here are the steps. 1. Right click on "Employee" entity on "EmployeeModel.edmx" and select "Stored Procedure Mapping" option from the context menu. 2. In the "Mapping Details" windows specify the Insert, Update and Delete stored procedures that you want to use with "Employee" entity At this point, 1. Run SQL Prrofiler 2. Run the application 3. Insert, Update and Delete Employee, and notice that the respective stored procedures are being called now.

Performing logical deletes in Oracle ADF

09:26
Hi, In some use cases it is required not to physically delete the row from database but instead update a FLAG e.g delete_FLAG = 'Y' in order to hide rows from user. So, if you don't familiar with the framework then you might take a long route to do the task which could easily be done by declarative steps. In this video we will do the following. 1. We will add history columns in entities. 2. we will have a view criteria to display only DELETE_FLAG = 'N' rows. 3. On deletion in detail table we will delete logically. 4. We will update the History columns of Master entity as modified by and modified_date. jQuery datatables get data from database table

21:04
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/08/jquery-datatables-get-data-from.html In this video we will discuss how to use database data with jQuery datatables plugin. There are many ways to get data into DataTables. If the data is small you can retrieve all the data at once and the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering) is done on the client-side. On the other hand if the database data is large, server-side processing can be enabled. With server-side processing enabled, all paging, searching, ordering actions that DataTables performs are handed off to the server. In this video we will discuss retrieving all the data at once. The datatables plugin performs all the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering etc) on the client-side. We want to retrieve data from the following database table tblEmployee. The database data should then be displayed using jQuery datatables plugin

This video explains the purpose of a tablespace. It explains how a tablespace (a logical object) is associated with a data file (a physical object). This is a form of "data independence," a feature of an RDBMS. Although this tutorial is presented in the context of Oracle Database, the principles generally apply to other relational systems. The general syntax used to create a tablespace is presented together with an example. Accessing meta data related to a tablespace and data file is also discussed. CRAZY GAME 5 ENDING Rockets vs Warriors 99-104 With Kevin Durant Injury 2019 NBA Semifinals

06:19
Kevin Durant Leaves Warriors-Rockets Game 5 with Leg Injury 2 Golden State’s MVP forward departs from Game 5 with the Houston Rockets. Warriors vs. Rockets: Kevin Durant leaves Game 5 with calf strain, will not return Considering how the injury looked, this might be as good of news as Golden State could've hoped for A leg injury has taken Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors out of Game 5 of the second round in the 2019 NBA Playoffs. Durant limped off the court after sustaining a non-contact injury in the third quarter of the Warriors’ contest with the Houston Rockets. Early reports describe the injury as a calf strain rather than a much more serious Achilles injury. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports is reporting that Durant will undergo an MRI on his calf on Thursday. Kevin Durant rose up, hit a jump shot, and as he was running back down the court he suddenly pulled up lame and began grabbing at the back of his leg. The initial fear was that perhaps Durant had suffered an Achilles injury, but TNT's Allie LaForce reported that it is a left calf strain and Durant will not return to Game 5. The Warriors confirmed this report via their media relations team shortly after Durant was forced to leave the floor. Rockets vs. Warriors: Live score, Game 5 updates, highlights from 2019 NBA playoffs The Rockets and Warriors have been trading home wins to start the Western Conference semifinals, and now Golden State returns to Oracle Arena looking for a 3-2 lead. James Harden dropped 38 points and 10 rebounds in Houston's close Game 4 win, and he credits a change in approach for his team's turnaround after losing the first two games of the series. Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry both missed potential game-tying threes in the final seconds of Game 4, but Curry has found a way to ignore outside criticism. "I take it all in stride and understand what I'm capable of and doing it within the context of how we play as a team," Curry said in a press conference. "I know I can play even better." An injury cloud hangs over Andre Iguodala, who is probable after hurting his knee late in Game 4. Members of the Warriors reportedly believe Iguodala was injured by "a dirty play" from Rockets guard Chris Paul. Sporting News is tracking live scoring updates and highlights from Game 5 between the Warriors and Rockets. Follow along below. Rockets vs. Warriors: Live score, updates from Game 5 Fourth quarter, 2:45 - Warriors 97, Rockets 89 In the span of one minute, Draymond Green drew a charge on Chris Paul, gave up a technical foul for making contact with Paul after the call, and drained a triple. Klay Thompson stepped up later to bury another three, and Oracle erupted. This has turned into a seriously good game. Seriously, drop what you're doing and find a way to watch. Steph has finally found his range but Eric Gordon is matching him shot for shot. Warriors coach Steve Kerr has no update on Durant's injury. He seems as shell-shocked as the crowd. The NBA world is watching on in shock as it waits for news on Durant's potential injury. Oracle Arena is silent. Harden has found his stepback and the Rockets are surging. What was a blowout is now a nailbiter. Even worse, Kevin Durant limped off after a non-contact injury. The TNT commentators speculated Durant had injured his Achilles. The Warriors are collapsing - missed shots and lackluster defense are gifting the Rockets points. The Rockets have made a move to close the gap early in the third Halftime - Warriors 57, Rockets 43 The trend of home teams winning in this series looks set to continue. Durant (20 points, 7-14 FG) and Thompson (17 points, 7-13 FG) are powering the Warriors offense. James Harden (14 points, 5-7 FG) is fighting valiantly, but he's the only Rockets player with more than six points. Second quarter, 3:05 - Warriors 57, Rockets 37 A James Harden burst trimmed the Warriors lead, but Golden State responded with a 17-0 run to blow the game wide open again Second quarter, 8:01 - Warriors 40, Rockets 30 Steph Curry has taken just three shots and missed all of them, but the Warriors are still up ten. This team is ridiculous. End of first quarter - Warriors 31, Rockets 17 Kevin Durant makes this whole 'dominating at basketball' thing look incredibly easy. ✔️ Subscribe, Like & Comment for More! ✔️ Best NBA Player ⚠️Disclaimer: ➡️All rights belong to the NBA. (15:23) Track List created with http://www.vinjavideo.com. --- --- Are IT and marketing becoming friends? Drag-and-drop process makes accessing data easier | #MME16 by Nelson Williams | Apr 27, 2016 The digital revolution has touched all facets of the tech business world, but few have felt the effects so strongly as the marketing sector. Big Data technologies and digital delivery have made it easier than ever to gather information on customers. However, that’s not enough. Especially in a business-to-business context, knowing the customer is only one side of the equation. A marketing effort must also know its own people so the individual marketers and salespeople can work together as a coordinated team to create a consistent, effective customer experience. To gain some insight on this new, orchestrated marketing world, John Furrier (@furrier) and Peter Burris (@plburris), cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, joined Chris Lynch, senior director and head of product marketing for Oracle Marketing Cloud, during the Oracle Modern Marketing Experience in Las Vegas. Putting the pieces together Oracle has recently made a number of acquisitions that point toward a new focus on marketing. Lynch explained the reason for these new additions to the portfolio. The intent, he said, is marketers need a place to connect all their data. They also need a centralized canvas to paint customer experiences. Oracle’s strategy, he said, is is to set the foundation of the kind of house a marketer wants to build. In business-to-business marketing, Lynch continued, what company someone works for is important, but so is where they sit in the company. The average sale involves five stakeholders, and they all respond to a different message. Making things easy for IT Marketing has been the traditional enemy of IT, for a number of reasons. Lynch described how the idea now is to offer tools that don’t rely on IT to set up or build everything. Taking something that used to be complex for IT, he said, and turning it into a drag-and-drop process is a win for both the marketer and IT. Lynch also focused on the value of data. Data, he said, helps Oracle develop effective working strategies and track where the customer is during their customer lifetime.
