According to a report by Allure, the Environmental Working Group releases a sunscreen guide every year to help consumers choose the least toxic sunscreen products to protect themselves from damage caused by UVA and UVB rays. Sunscreens that come as a spray, have an SPF higher than 50, or contain oxybenzone, which is believed to be 'a hormone-disrupting chemical' are all red-flags according to the report. Consumers looking for more information on how the EWG determines its scores, to see the full list of tested products and their ratings, and to read more of the organization's recommended sun-safety tips, can visit the 2018 sunscreen guide at ewg.org. https://www.allure.com/story/ewg-2018-sunscreen-guide http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

https://www.rspsupply.com/c-1618-enclosures.aspx Enclosure Basics An electrical enclosure is a cabinet for electrical or electronic equipment to mount switches, knobs and displays and to prevent electrical shock to equipment users and protect the contents from the environment. Regulations may dictate the features and performance of enclosures for electrical equipment in hazardous areas, such as petrochemical plants or coal mines. Electronic packaging may place many demands on an enclosure for heat dissipation, radio frequency interference and electrostatic discharge protection, as well as functional, aesthetic and commercial constraints. Electrical enclosures are usually made from rigid plastics, metals, particularly stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. Enclosures for some purposes have partially punched openings (knockouts) which can be removed to accommodate cables, connectors, or conduits. Where they are small and primarily intended to conceal electrical junctions from sight, or protect them from tampering, they are also known as junction boxes, street cabinets or technically as serving area interface. NEMA Ratings NEMA - National Electrical Manufacturers Association uses a standard rating system that defines the types of environments in which an electrical enclosure can be used, and frequently signifies a fixed enclosure's ability to withstand certain environmental conditions. Examples of NEMA ratings and environments they can be used in: NEMA 1 &12. Rated for indoor use that protects against solid objects, dust and dirt. NEMA 4 Can protect against solid objects and is also waterproof and rust resistant. Commonly used outdoors. NEMA 7 Explosion proof enclosure. Design to contain an explosion within the enclosure and not causing any external hazards. Designed to be used in Class 1 Div. 1 and Class 1 Div. 2 environments. There are several other types of NEMA ratings that can help us to determine which enclosure is best suited for our particular application. Things to consider besides NEMA rating when choosing an enclosure: - NEMA ratings are just one of the many things we should consider when selecting an enclosure - Size - Take into consideration how many different components you have to put in the enclosure, and how much room each component will need. - Keep in mind the back plate (which is what the components are mounted to, will take up and inch or two of the total depth the enclosure can offer. - Heat - Make sure that all of the heat generated be all of the components can be dissipated by the enclosure you decide to select. - External obstacles - Think about what obstacles are surrounding the enclosure and how that might affect wire coming out of the panel, or other externally mounted components, such as disconnects, HMI’s switches, push buttons, etc. - Material Type - Determine which material will best suit your needs. Steel, Stainless Steel, and many different kinds of non-metallic options are available and are all suited for different types of applications By taking time to educate ourselves about the many different functions that an electrical enclosure and can offer and asking ourselves a few simple questions, we can ensure we select the proper enclosure for our specific application. Weighbridges are located in some of the harshest environments of any industrial application – leaving you frustrated with frequent shut downs due to environmental factors. If you are tired of calling your service technician to repair your scale, we have a solution for you – POWERCELL® PDX® load cells eliminate the need for a junction box. Here are the top causes of truck scale failure and how POWERCELL PDX is able to combat them: Water Traditional analog load cell systems: Liquids that get inside the junction box may corrode the hardware from the inside POWERCELL PDX load cells: By removing the junction box from the load cell system this eliminates the potential for issues with water damage. The entire system is tested to IP68 and IP69K submersion ratings. Lightning Traditional analog load cell systems: A single strike and damage an entire string of load cells. POWERCELL PDX load cells: Tested by an independent laboratory and rated for 80K amperes, the POWERCELL PDX protects nearly 3 times the average lightning strike. Physical Damage Traditional analog load cell systems: Rodents, debris and overloading cause added potential for damage. Additionally, with cables that are permanently connected to the load cell if a cable is damaged the entire load cell must be replaced. POWERCELL PDX load cells: Stainless steel braided sheathing comes standard with all POWERCELL load cells and protects against rodents, moisture and radio frequency. Additionally, our quick disconnect cables allow for only the cable to be replaced in case of damage, a much less expensive and easier fix than replacing an entire load cell. Environmental Changes Traditional analog load cell system: Varying climates may affect the accuracy of analog load cells. POWERCELL PDX load cells: Active compensation is built in to every cell, counteracting the negative environmental influences such as temperature, linearity, hysteresis & creep. Cummins doesn't just talk about environmental stewardship. The Company puts its words into action. Here's a look at some of the ways we ensure that "everything we do leads to a cleaner, healthier and safer environment." Climate change Early in 2007, Cummins formed a climate change team to take both a strategic and tactical view of climate change and sustainability at Cummins. The team's members, from across business units and functions, represent facilities, product planning, corporate strategy, environmental policy, supply chain, and government relations, among others. The team has evolved into an active working group that takes a very structured and results-oriented approach to our 10 climate change principles developed to meet the challenges of climate change going forward. Six of these principles direct company actions for our products, businesses, employees and communities, while four of them shape our partnerships with legislative and regulatory entities to develop sound public policy. The outreach of the corporate group is expanding to include forming business-specific and regional working groups to address climate change. Many examples of the working group's efforts are included elsewhere in this report: * The support of greenhouse gas regulation (GHG) in commercial vehicles and collaborative work with the EPA in developing future GHG regulation; * Engaging employees to reduce their carbon footprints both at work and at home; * Closing in on our 25 percent facility GHG reduction goal; and * Pursuing new business opportunities like hybrids and combined heat and power systems. Jessica Assaf, EWG teen body burden study participant and natural beauty entrepreneur, discusses the results of the study and how EWG's Skin Deep Database changed her life. Just six years ago, EWG tested the blood and urine of 20 young adults. We wanted to know if teens would show higher levels of chemicals associated with personal care products, since we knew that teens used an average of 17 of them a day. It was the first time anyone had taken a focused look at teens' exposures to chemicals in cosmetics -- exposures that occur during a period of accelerated physical and mental development. And we found 16 chemicals, all of which can interfere with the hormone system. When our volunteers learned their results, they all made life changes. Jessica Assaf, one of the participants, discusses the changes she made.

http://www.EvolvedFloors.com.au Inspired by Design. We supply and install affordable luxury flooring. In this Video Joshua talks about How To Choose The Best Quality Loose Lay Vinyl Planks? Firstly, you have to consider where the vinyl planks are made. There are a lot of Chinese made copies products that have entered the marketplace. A lot of large companies are buying from China because they are cheap, but how do they know if it is quality flooring? I've had much experience over the years of actually physically laying the loose lay plank products, and watching them delaminate. This is a nightmare, because when the corners meet and you walk over day in your day to day life, they start to peel off. this is the hard wear layer on top, where the actual timber look is, it starts to peel back. The second problem that I've found is the dimensional stability is very low. When it gets cold, all the planks shrink up. I recommend to stay away from Chinese loose lay vinyl planks. The preferable manufacturing region on the planet is South Korea, because they are the ones that have pioneered loose lay. They use virgin PVC, and use a high grade fibreglass reinforcement layer, that keeps the planks strong and tough. Keeps them durable for many years to come. There are a few other things to consider as well, which is the look. If it doesn't look beautiful, why would you have it in your home? You really need something that excites you, or makes you feel comfortable, or just fades into the background. What you have to look for is the photograph that is actually underneath the wear layer on top. This is how it looks like timber - it is a high resolution print film. The photographic print film of the timber, the higher the resolution - the better. The highest quality print layers are found in Karndean Looselay, Acoustic LuxFeel and Illusions Loose Lay planks. You also have to look for the clarity of the wear layer on top. What you have to make sure you look for is: - A satin finish on top - High resolution print film - Korean made - High quality - Fiberglass reinforcement - Virgin PVC In my opinion these are the most important things to look for when choosing a loose lay plank! Evolved Luxury Floors brings together the most innovative luxury flooring collections, including loose lay vinyl planks and tiles, fully bonded vinyl, engineered timbers, bamboo, carpet, carpet tiles and porcelain tiles, including timber look porcelain tiles. 6th EHPA Forum discusses heat pump labelling: consumers willing to pay for better environmental ratings Around 150 participants gathered on 15 May 2013 in Brussels, Belgium for the 6th EHPA (European Heat Pump Forum). In addition to presentations on the role of heat pumps in balancing energy demand and a debate about their continued existence without f-gases, Antonia Dickmanlooked at heat pumps from the consumer perspective asking "How interested are consumers in renewable heat and what impact can energy labelling have?" Although heat pumps are currently a niche technology in many EU countries, they are expected to form a necessary part of Europe's low carbon future. Renewable heat policies alone however, will not be able to shift heat pumps to the mainstream. At the EHPA (European Heat Pump Forum) Forum held earlier this month, Antonia Dickman looked at the impact of energy labelling on consumer purchases, and whether these could be used to help influence the heat pump uptake. To answer the question, "could labelling help consumers make more informed choices?" Antonia Dickman's presentation looked at two key studies: DECC, More Efficient Heating Study - a GB case study DG Energy, Study into EU product label options Untapped market potential for heat pumps in those that "don't know" about renewable heating The "More Efficient Heating Study" indicates that UK consumers are wedded to their gas boilers. The study survey of around 2,900 British homeowners points to gas as the default heating choice, and that most British consumers know little about renewable heating and cooling options. Although two thirds of respondents indicate that they have heard of solar thermal heating, 7 in 10 say they have never heard of ground source heat pumps. The study also brought to light the large section of consumers who have "no opinion" or "don't know", suggesting there is a large untapped market potential for heat pumps to become seen as "fairly positive" to "very positive" by consumers. How can we help inform consumers to make more environmentally friendly choices? The second study presented by Ms Dickman was conducted by IPSOS Mori for DG Energy on EU Product Label Options, and looked at how consumers might be helped by labelling to make more environmentally friendly choices. The online research targeted 6000 consumers to investigate the impact of adding more indicators to the energy labels of goods such as washing machines, TVs and light bulbs. Would consumers make different purchasing choices if a simple indicator displaying a good's water consumption, carbon footprint, and/or resource use was added? How would such an indicator affect willingness to pay? Results showed that consumers are more likely to choose environmentally products with the added label indicators and are also more likely to bid more. Interestingly, there was no preference for either the added water, carbon footprint or resource use indicators. What was important was that the environmental impact of the product was clearly labelled. Given that environmental information has to compete with lots of other information, consumers may benefit from having easy-to understand short cuts in the form of logos that simplify the environmental rating of the product. Is the current Energy Label enough to stimulate heat pump market The IPSOS research begs the question is the Energy Label too complex? Would an overall environmental rating appeal more to consumers? Whilst such label may be less useful for lower cost household products, the IPSOS study indicates that for white good this might be the case. The impact such environmental rating labels have on heat pump purchases however, in the end will depend on getting the information to consumer. Currently installers and developers are more often than not the intermediaries who purchase products such as heat pumps, so how can knowledge about environmental ratings be put ot best use? About the EHPA The European Heat Pump Association was established in 2000 to promote awareness and proper deployment of heat pump technology in the European market place. Feb. 2, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Just how material are environmental, social, and governance issues becoming to the bottom line? Recent evidence increasingly says, very material. The latest exhibit is a new report, 10 Companies to Watch in 2014, published by Sustainalytics, the responsible and sustainable investment research firm. This report examines companies from ten industry sectors, including energy, financials, food and beverage, telecomm, and industrials, and grades their investment potential through an ESG filter. What's of real interest here is that the report is a mix of positive and negative ratings, with very detailed reviews of ESG opportunities and risks, of companies that are taking proactive action to address such issues, and those that are not. Examples are given of specific ESG issues and how they will affect operational and reputational factors in the coming year, with ratings from negative to positive, overall ESG scores, and rankings of relative positions within respective industries. It makes for some very insightful and very useful reading. Sustainalytics' 10 Companies to Watch in 2014 is a must-read to guide investors in making profitable choices in the coming year, and in avoiding unprofitable ones. I'm John Howell for 3Bl Media.

At the heart of all financial investments is a simple question. Will this make money? Today, finding that answer starts with an even more ambitious inquiry: What does this investment do for our world? Evaluating financial products has historically meant looking at criteria like yields, ratings, and liquidity. But that evaluation is turning outwards, asking how much good an investment can bring to areas like the health of our environment and local community. Research shows that, more often than not, a meaningful social return and a high financial one go hand in hand. Responsible investing doesn’t just create positive impact: It’s been shown to create better long-term performance, and improve cashflow. “Today, most companies get profits by doing good,” explains Michael Sakraida, founder of the Financial Advisor Network, or FAN. “That's going to improve their long-term sustainability as a company and improve their profits because it gives them a competitive advantage.” Investors are now routinely looking at factors like community engagement, board diversity, executive compensation, and energy consumption to place value on a company. This in turn means that portfolio managers are using ESG analytics to determine which companies have the potential to perform well in the long term. In Good Returns, produced by Atlantic Re:think and sponsored by Nuveen, experts from across the financial landscape painted the same picture: a future where responsible investing will no longer be seen as an alternative investment approach, but as the standard. Since Trump took office, enforcement actions at the EPA have almost completely fallen off the map. Investigations and enforcement actions have fallen by about half, and the total amount of fines being taken in by the agency fell by hundreds of millions of dollars per year. American citizens are the ones who are suffering as a result of these polluters getting off without any form of punishment, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains. About the only thing the trump administration has been successful with, other than cutting taxes for the already wealthy is deregulating this entire country that's been their whole platform since day one, deregulate, undo all of the good things Obama had done and let corporations just have their run of the country doing whatever they want, dumping whatever they want into our water, onto our soil, into the air, wherever it is, just dump away. We're going to deregulate you and the few regulations we have in place. Don't worry about it because we're not even going to enforce those. According to a new report by the Associated Press in forcement efforts at the environmental protection agency last year fell by more than half, and that was after most of them had already fallen significantly in trump's first year in office, but the second year in office 2018, they fell even more. And here's what's important to remember. This is not because polluters cleaned up their acts. It's not because they decided they were going to be good corporate citizens. From now on. It's just because the EPA decided to do what they called take a new tact and just work with these companies instead of set of finding them or enforcing rules are going to work with them, you know, educate them as what they said on what they should be doing and then just never bothered, bothered to follow up and see if they're actually doing it. Is the second part that they didn't say out loud. Here's some stats. Let me read this here. A declines include civil investigations carried out by the agency, the EPA, which fell to just 22 last year down from 40 in 2017. Criminal fines and restitution is also tumbled. Uh, we had 207 million in 2016. Three billion billion with a b in 2017. But that's only because two point 8 billion of that was from Volkswagen settlement for their emission scandal, which had been in the works for years before trump came into office. So that one doesn't even count. And then last year, after averaging minus Volkswagen, about 200 million per year, last year, $86,000,000, the federal government took an $86,000,000 from corporate polluters. That is the sum total of all the fines last year from pipeline spills, from oil by rail disasters, from coal ash spills, from chemical companies dumping their toxins and giving tens of thousands of people cancer. Eighty $6,000,000 is what the federal government fined them. Toll Toll. This is not the way to sustain a country. These chemicals that we're getting exposed to, you know, whether it's cold slash fracking chemicals, you know, a Pfo plays in our water. One a 110 million people a third of this country drinking these chemicals that will give you cancer. We're on the fast track to killing roughly one third of the United States population. #rof #trofire #theringoffire #progressivenews

(wikipedia.org) The Tesla Model S is a full-sized all-electric five-door, luxury liftback, produced by Tesla Inc., and introduced in June 2012. It scored a perfect 5.0 NHTSA automobile safety rating, and, as of March 2017, the P100D variant holds the record for the fastest acceleration of any production vehicle from a standstill to 60 mph in Motor Trend tests. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) official range for the 2012 Model S Performance model equipped with an 85 kWh (310 MJ) battery pack is 265 miles (426 km), higher than any other electric car at the time. EPA rated its energy consumption at 237.5 watt-hours per kilometer (38 kWh/100 mi or 24 kWh/100 km) for a combined fuel economy of 89 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent (2.64 L/100 km or 107 mpg‑imp). In 2016, Tesla updated the design of the Model S to closely match that of the Model X. As of January 2017, the following versions are available: 60, 60D, 75, 75D, 90D and P100D. Owners of the earlier 70 and 70D Model S have the option to unlock the 75 kWh capacity via a software update, adding up to 19 miles (31 km) per charge. The 60 and 60D Model S, reintroduced in June 2016, have a US$9,000 option to unlock the full 75 kWh capacity via a software update any time after purchase. In August 2016, Tesla introduced the P100D as the new top-level model. The P100D model has a 100 kWh battery, a 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) time of 2.28 seconds, and over 300 miles (485 km) of EPA rated range. The Model S became the first electric car to top the monthly new car sales ranking in any country, twice leading in Norway, in September and December 2013; and also in Denmark in December 2015. Global Model S sales passed the 150,000 unit milestone in November 2016, with the U.S. as the leading market with 57% of global sales. Other leading country markets are Norway, China, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. The Tesla Model S has ranked as the world's best-selling plug-in electric car for two years in a row, 2015 and 2016. The Model S also ranked as the top selling plug-in electric car in the U.S. for two years running, 2015 and 2016. As of December 2016, the Model S is the world's second best selling plug-in electric car in history after the Nissan Leaf. The Tesla Model S won awards including the 2013 World Green Car of the Year, 2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year, Automobile magazine's 2013 Car of the Year, Time Magazine Best 25 Inventions of the Year 2012 award and Consumer Reports top-scoring car in its road testing. In 2015, Car and Driver named the Model S the Car of the Century. After declining to recommend the Model S in 2015 due to reliability issues, one year later Consumer Reports added the car to the magazine's recommended list.

We all know the importance of eating healthy, but not everyone knows that the cookware you use to prepare your dishes is just as important as the food itself. Even the healthiest diet can result in severe health problems if your pots and pans are toxic. Find out which cookware you should avoid by all means for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. The non-stick properties of Teflon cookware are achieved with a coating of PTFE. This is a plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. These toxic fumes lead to flu-like symptoms called polymer fume fever, informally known as Teflon flu. Another chemical compound found in Teflon cookware is especially threatening since it tends to stay in the body (as well as in the environment) for long periods of time. Try cast-iron cookware instead. It even comes in non-stick varieties. It doesn't leak anything toxic into your food and is actually a nice natural way to increase your body’s iron levels. Though aluminum cookware is usually coated, the coating is prone to chipping, allowing the toxic metal to get right into your food. As for aluminum foil, using it while cooking is even more dangerous. In fact, there’s an established safe amount of aluminum the human body can manage daily, and that’s 20 mg per pound of body weight a day. When you wrap your food in aluminum foil and cook it this way, the amount of this substance that leaks into the food significantly exceeds the permissible level. Consider using glass cookware instead. If you’ve just enjoyed some fish in lemon juice or stewed tomatoes cooked in an uncoated copper pot and you find yourself suffering from extremely unpleasant symptoms (such as vomiting blood, light-headedness, yellowy skin, or gastrointestinal distress, among others) call 911 immediately. Try this safe alternative instead: stainless steel. Just make sure you're buying food-grade stainless steel since this is the only type that doesn't contain any nickel or chromium. Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Lead poisoning is one of the most dangerous types of metal poisoning and can result in abdominal pain, headaches, infertility, and other health complications. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. TIMESTAMPS Teflon cookware 0:38 Aluminum cookware and aluminum foil 3:31 Copper cookware 5:12 Ceramic-coated cookware 6:54 SUMMARY -Teflon contains plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. Try this safe alternative instead: real cast-iron. This is a nontoxic cooking option that truly withstands the test of time. It heats well and evenly throughout. -Aluminum is a neurotoxic metal. Elevated levels of aluminum in the body have been linked to several central nervous system diseases, including Alzheimer's and ALS. Try this safe alternative instead: glass cookware. It’ll never release anything toxic when heated, it doesn’t hold onto any old flavors or odors, and it's not only durable but also eco-friendly. -Copper cookware, especially when it isn’t coated, can easily send you to the ER with a bad case of metal poisoning. And that’s because it can release copper when you cook acidic foods. Stainless steel is a great cookware option: it's relatively lightweight, scratch-resistant, and comes in non-stick varieties. -Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. This is one of the best and safest options out there since it's made with completely natural materials, it isn't toxic, and it won't chip or peel off.
