What Harajuku Girls Really Look Like | Style Out There | Refinery29
From Gothic Lolitas to Yoyogi Rockabillies, the Tokyo neighborhood of Harajuku is a wellspring of some of the world's most unique and extreme fashion trends. Rife with restaurants, shops, and cafes, it's a hangout 'hood for the city's youth, whose style is confined to uniforms from elementary school through to high school graduation. And, perhaps to rebel from such strict sameness, they spend their weekends seeing how far they can push the limits. One of the oldest and most pervasive Harajuku style groups is Decora, characterized by a pursuit of kawaii, or "cuteness," which is expressed in massive piles of hair clips, face bandaids, creative layering, and a mishmash of colors and textures. Don't let "cute" confuse you: There's nothing delicate or elegant about Decora. It's bright, it's loud, and it's in your face (or rather, on your face, via a Hello Kitty bandaid). Though the style can appear as frivolous as a Halloween costume, there's a real statement behind the bevy of barrettes. In the face of pervasive group-mindedness, a rigid social order, and cultural reticence, the Decora have figured out a way to break free. In the first episode of our new documentary series, Style Out There, our host Asha Leo travels to Harajuku to meet with street fashion superstars, like 90884 designer Kurebayashi, Junnyan, and Shoichi Aoki, the founder of FRUiTS magazine, to peel back the rainbow-colored stickers and uncover the depth behind Decora. They have an online website where you can order and have it shipped to you, wherever you may live (https://www.bodylinetokyo.co.jp/?lang=en). Bodyline is very well known for being so diverse in sizing, both shoes and clothes alike. With the whole thing of not allowing you to try on things, most of or even all Lolita stores will not let you try on the clothes; purely because they are so expensive and difficult to make. Bodyline is definitely one of those stores that only really sells costume-y clothes or medium quality Lolita dresses, I have owned several dresses and pairs of shoes from them over the course of 5 years and they are well made and decent quality for the price. However if you aren't looking for Lolita styled clothes or seifukus your next best bet for pastel fashion is Listen Flavour. Although Listen Flavour only caters up to a AUS/UK 14-16, their store is located on the street on the right, right before you exit Takeshita Street. I know there are a few other plus sized brands around Japan but I'm unsure of where they're located. Being plus sized should never dishearten you from going shopping in Japan because even though all the sizing over there is much smaller than western sizing, I am almost certain that if you look hard enough, you can find something" Some of the above links are affiliate links - you can tell because they have “shrsl” written in the URL. The items won’t cost you any more, but if you use these links, it will help me buy top quality almonds for Archie!

Adorable and Affordable Korean Fashion! | Youvimi Review
Read me! I have important information/sorta funny banter! Wowie, this took waaaay too long to edit. Anyhow, Youvimi contacted me for a sponsorship, which I accepted after some thought! I'm always on the hunt for quality and cute clothes so I was surprised to see that the quality for these clothes were soo good! I would classify this as a "pay for what you get" sort of deal-- the price speaks for the quality. If you look at other websites selling similar items, they're a lot cheaper, BUT their quality is, uh, questionable. Also, this website isn't a scam and the customer service is quite nice. :) Links!: Skirt: https://www.youvimi.com/collections/dresses-skirt/products/sweet-love-high-waist-woolen-skirts-yv2477 Black top: https://www.youvimi.com/collections/tops/products/dragon-long-sleeve-embroidery-sweater-yv1506 Pikachu turtleneck: https://www.youvimi.com/products/lovely-pikachu-turtleneck-winter-hoodies-jacket-yv8092 Youvimi: https://www.youvimi.com/ Thanks for watching and thanks to Youvimi for the items!

How Expensive is Harajuku?
How expensive are clothes in Harajuku? A look around the shops in Harajuku, with prices in Yen, Dollars and Pounds, so you can see how much clothes and accessories cost in Harajuku. In general, Tokyo's perceived as an expensive place - while it's not cheap, it's not as expensive as a lot of people think. On Takeshita Street you can get kawaii Japanese fashion for a very reasonable price, and there are also more expensive brand shops. MORE HARAJUKU FASHION coming up in my haul video! BERCERK "Dirty City" Harajuku Street Fashion
Guerilla fashion show on the streets of Harajuku by dark Japanese streetwear brand BERCERK. Japanese independent fashion brand BERCERK skipped the runway and brought their Spring collection directly to the rainy streets of Harajuku - the youth-centric Tokyo neighborhood where the brand was born. Founded by Cham, a staffer at the uber-popular Harajuku boutique Never Mind the XU, BERCERK features dark gender neutral streetwear with the concept of " Braver than men, more feminine than women." The guerilla fashion show was titled "Dirty City" and featured six different looks from the latest BERCERK collection. Harajuku Decora Fashion - デコラファッション
Kawaii and colorful fashion at a Japanese decora meetup in Tokyo's famous Harajuku fashion district. Decora is a Japanese subculture that revolves around colorful outfits with lots of cute accessories - especially brightly colored plastic hair clips. Decora was extremely popular in Harajuku in the early 2000s, with hundreds of decora gathering on the Jingu Bashi bridge every weekend to hang out with their friends, trade fashion tips, and have fun. Today's Japanese decora - while not in the numbers they once were - still carry on the tradition of bright colorful clothing and lots of accessories, while adding their own personal touches to the style. Recently, we've also seen an increase in people mixing decora with shironuri, which you can see in a couple of these looks. This Harajuku decora meetup was a chance for several of Tokyo's decora to get together and have fun while spending the day wandering around Harajuku together. The day ended with ice cream! We will be posting street snaps of each of the decora outfits from the decora meetup - please check back soon for the link. The organizer of this Harajuku Decora meetup was: https://twitter.com/0326decora We thank her for inviting us to film the event - and a big thank you to all of the decora who we met! Japanese Street Fashion - Beni, Harajuku
Meet Beni, a Japanese high school student with a love of dance and art. On the streets of Harajuku, Beni discovered that fashion helped her to express herself, make new friends, and grow as a person. "Our Streets, My Style" is our original show taking you up close and personal with Japanese street style personalities. Meet the amazing people featured in the daily street snaps Tokyo Fashion has been publishing for over a decade. Beni on Instagram & Twitter https://www.instagram.com/beni9s/ https://twitter.com/beniemily9s We first met Beni on the streets of Harajuku in the spring of 2017. She was a Japanese high school student who dressed mostly in trendy styles sold by popular boutiques in the famous Tokyo neighborhood. As we got to know more about her, we learned that Beni was an aspiring artist, and that she had also been involved in dance (both ballet and modern dance) since she was very young. Having been interested in creative expression through art and dance since she was a child, we were not surprised to see Beni dive deeper into fashion as another medium to express herself. As she spent more time in Harajuku, Beni's personal style began to move away from trendy shops and toward independent designers, vintage shops, and experimental looks. Beni also began to make new friends on the streets of Harajuku - creative young people from all over Tokyo who shared her love of fashion and who have similar dreams and ambitions. When she first arrived in Harajuku, she didn't know anyone in the neighborhood. By the spring of 2018, Beni had built a large new family of friends, acquaintances, and creative collaborators - a group of kids who inspire and support each other in fashion and in life. Beni's story is similar to the story of many other Harajuku kids who visit Harajuku casually at first, and then discover a deeper love of fashion - and a new group of creative friends. We hope that you'll enjoy hearing about this evolution first hand from a real Harajuku girl. If you have questions for Beni, feel free to ask her by commenting on her personal Instagram. They’re all Korean fashion and Japanese fashion, and they’re pretty affordable! Make sure you watch the whole video, because the last outfit is my favourite. I love Korean fashion, Korean makeup and Korean food, so I’m sure you can understand why I’m so excited. A lot of this stuff is also Japanese fashion, like Harajuku style! Japanese Street Style - Shouta, Harajuku
Meet Shouta, a 26-year-old Japanese aspiring musician, model, and actor who is active in the Harajuku street fashion scene. Shouta, who had a complex about his appearance, has tried to turn that negative into a positive through the power of fashion and music. "Our Streets, My Style" is our original show taking you up close and personal with Japanese street style personalities. Meet the amazing people featured in the daily street snaps Tokyo Fashion has been publishing for over a decade. Shouta on Instagram and Twitter: https://instagram.com/tananasho/ https://twitter.com/tananasho We first met Shouta on the streets of Tokyo's Harajuku neighborhood several years ago. The aspiring musician (he plays guitar and drums as well as singing) immediately stood out because of his bald head and minimalist oversized fashion. His passion for music - which has long been his dream - was obvious, even in our first conversations. Shouta first began visiting Harajuku after moving to Tokyo from Nagano. He told us that he used to have a complex about his appearance. After starting a band and getting more involved in fashion, he began to see the negative things that he had been focusing on as potential positives that made him unique. Over the last few years, in addition to his band, Shouta has been doing more modeling for fashion brands. His style is very "Japanese" and he wears fashion by designers - Yohji Yamamoto is his favorite - that incorporate traditional Japanese elements into their modern stylings. In addition to modeling, he has also started to do some acting in short films, something that he hopes to explore more in the future. Shouta has built a large circle of fashion-loving friends on the streets of Harajuku, which he told us helps to keep him positive when dark thoughts start to creep in. And when he can't suppress them, he tries to focus any negativity into song writing for his band. Even though he told us that he has a "gloomy" side, Shouta is someone who we always enjoy meeting on the street, and we hope that you'll enjoy his interview as well! Follow Shouta on Instagram to see more of his life, music, and modeling. You can also ask him questions directly via her social media accounts. Harajuku Decora Tutorial & Kawaii Artwork in Tokyo
See the 2016 Harajuku decora meetup, watch a tutorial on how to do your own cute decora hairstyle, and meet a kawaii Tokyo-based artist. Every year, girls and boys in Japan's decora subculture hold a meetup in Harajuku. Decora gather in Harajuku and walk around together, maybe have lunch, and just enjoy the colorful fun that is decora fashion. Rikarin attended the most recent Harajuku Decora Meetup and shot some video to share with you. Rikarin also filmed herself preparing for the Harajuku Decora Meetup to show you how she does her own decora hairstyle. Hopefully you'll find the tutorial helpful! Finally, Rikarin went to the art exhibition of one of her good Harajuku friends, Ene. In addition to checking out Ene's kawaii artworks, Rikarin talked to Ene about why she creates these cute artworks. I Got Transformed Into a Japanese Lolita Girl | Harajuku, Japan
Experience the Japanese street fashion Lolita in Tokyo, Japan. Thank you to this Harajuku studio for the Lolita girl transformation: http://www.maison-de-julietta.com/. Be sure to click subscribe & turn on the notifications! Lolita fashion is a fashion subculture from Japan emerged during the 1990s as a radical form of street style. It is both kawaii, Victorian, and diverse in its presentation. Harajuku girls began taking the streets of Tokyo and their fashion can now be found all around the world! The outfit I'm dressed in today is part of Sweet Lolita style, with its dolls, cuddly toys that is in reference to Victorian children's literature - very similar to an Alice in Wonderland look! But there is also Gothic Lolita or Punk Lolita style. I never thought I'd get to experience this side of Japanese culture and I'm glad to have let my inner Lolita twirl! Decora Tutorial - KAWAII HAIR STYLE

Please subscribe to our YouTube channel and watch all of our upcoming "My Kawaii Style" Japanese makeup and beauty tutorials. Japanese decora fashion is one of the most famous Harajuku street styles. Going all the way back to the 1990s, decora girls have gathered in Harajuku to show off their colorful fashion and countless kawaii accessories. The definitive element of Japanese decora style is a hairstyle topped off with cute hair clips. In this decora tutorial, Japanese model Haruka Kurebayashi will demonstrate how she creates her own decora hairstyle look. While she isn't a full-on decora, Kurebayashi can frequently be seen around the streets of Harajuku with elements of decora style incorporated into her looks. Kurebayashi mixes and matches many different kawaii Harajuku styles into her personal fashion, and you can do the same! This is another quick and easy tutorial by Kurebayashi. The only items needed for this tutorial are hair and cute hair clips! Kurebayashi finds cute hair clips that appeal to her own sense of kawaii and she recommends that you seek out whatever clips you like based on your own personal style. If you have any clips that you especially like or you want to recommend some kawaii hair clips to others, feel free to leave a comment on the video! Harajuku Beyond Takeshita Street
Tour of less well-known places in Harajuku beyond Takeshita Street: interesting shops in the backstreets and hidden spots! Harajuku is Tokyo's kawaii central for cute, alternative fashion. The main street is Takeshita Dori, but there's lots more to see too. Explore the backstreets (Urahara) for a more laidback atmosphere, indie shops and to see a different side that's off the tourist path. I'll also show you Laforet, a department store with lolita brands, Tokyu Plaza Omotesando, the Moshi Moshi box and kawaii Harajuku Clock by Sebastian Masuda of 6% Dokidoki and peaceful Togo Shrine, where you can see turtles and koi carp. ***SUBSCRIBE for Japan vlogs every Thursday*** ***SUPPORT CAKES WITH FACES: Take a look at my cute dresses, funny t-shirts, hoodies & accessories (worldwide delivery) https://www.cakeswithfaces.co.uk ***FOLLOW Cakes with Faces: https://www.facebook.com/cakeswithfaces https://www.twitter.com/cakeswithfaces http://instagram.com/cakeswithfaces http://google.com/+CakeswithfacesCoUk The music is free, created using Jukedeck. #harajuku #tokyo #japanesefashion
