Pressure to reduce carbon emissions is putting the future of fossil fuel giants in jeopardy. Their survival plans involve carbon storage and floating wind farms. Meanwhile, one small German village is showing how large companies aren't always essential. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.trib.al/rWl91R7 Over 80% of the world's energy needs are provided by coal, oil and gas. Although technologies to extract fossil fuels may have changed over the decades, the core products themselves have never been challenged. Until now. Pressure to reduce carbon emissions is putting the future of fossil fuel giants in jeopardy. Encouraging the growth of alternative methods to generate and distribute power. In just eight years, the value of the world's biggest power companies has halved. Leaving industry giants scrambling to redefine their role in this new energy world. Across the world, old industries are facing disruption on an unprecedented scale. The pressure to adapt has never been greater. Known as the Paris Accord, 195 countries agreed to a legally binding climate deal to reduce carbon emissions. This 5 trillion dollar industry may be facing a seismic shift but that doesn't mean it's ready to ditch the dirty fossil fuels that made it rich. Instead, many companies are banking on new methods to clean up an old process. Norwegian oil and gas giant, Statoil, struck it rich in the North Sea in the late 1960s. Over four decades later, at its Sleipner gas rig, the company is attempting to make fossil fuel production cleaner. Statoil's business still relies on the harmful burning of fossil fuels by its customers but at least the company is trying to reduce its own carbon footprint. It's transformed some of its offshore rigs with technology that enables engineers to separate the carbon dioxide and pump it underground. Statoil's Sleipner gas rig is the world's first offshore carbon capture storage plant. Each year, Statoil stores 1 million tonnes of CO2 making extraction less carbon intensive. They believe that prioritising gas over more harmful fossil fuels will further reduce global warming and keep them relevant for decades to come. Wind and solar are cleaner but depend on subsidies. To take on the consistency of fossil fuels they face a huge challenge - The unpredictable weather. In Bavaria, a tiny village has used those subsidies to take up the challenge. This community believes it's found a way to produce a steady energy supply just from renewable sources, raising the real prospect of a future free from fossil fuels. Norbert and Kristina Bechteler's family farm has been providing the local community with dairy products for over 200 years but they now have a new income from solar energy. Producing your own energy with solar panels isn't revolutionary but in this village, they're combining solar with other renewables in an attempt to achieve the Holy Grail of a steady energy supply. And they're prepared to use anything to do it. The Deputy Mayor has helped drive the village's pioneering efforts to make renewable energy a realistic option. There's one renewable that never disappears as it can be sourced from the decay of virtually any organic matter and it's called biogas. Of the four biogas plants in the village, Farmer Einsiedler runs the largest. Combining these different sources has been so successful the village now generates five times more energy than it needs. But that is just part of the challenge of turning renewables into a credible energy supply. Dumbest ways companies have failed to predict the future or made decisions that bankrupted them! Whatever happened to Blockbuster and Borders? Find out on this countdown of epic business blunders! #9. “Kodak”- The Eastman Kodak Company was founded in 1888 and was the most successful company in the photography industry during the 20th Century. They were the leaders in bringing the cutting edge of photographic technology and easy to use cameras to the hands of consumers throughout the world. But Kodak almost met its demise at the hands of a product that it actually invented: digital photography. Kodak invented this technology in 1975, but failed to jump on the innovation, believing that common applications for it were well into the future. Early on, the company thought that the high cost and complexity that would be needed to make a push into the digital front weren’t in Kodak’s best interests. So, Kodak put digital photography to the side to be picked back up when the time was financially advantageous, but they waited too long. By the time they switched gears, they faced competitors who had been perfecting their business models with digital photography at the center, whereas Kodak’s model was still dependent on printed photos. While other companies made deals with websites, phone companies and focused on online based imaging, Kodak floundered and in 2012 filed for Bankruptcy. They have since come back from bankruptcy and started specializing in producing smartphones and tablets. #8. “Pan American”- From 1927 until 1991, Pan Am was the largest airline company in the United States, but due to bad foresight, callous labor practices and an uncontrollable disaster this global giant quickly met its end. The company basically had a monopoly on overseas travel until World War II but was dealt its first major blow when other strong airline companies began to up their game. Pan Am fought off the competitors with its innovations such as jumbo jets and an advanced system for making reservations but these innovations couldn’t match the corporate aptitude and human relations that the other airlines dealt with more astutely. One of the main reasons for Pan Am’s failure was ironically due to its early successes. Because of the sheer size of its fleet, it was the company hit the hardest by the 1973 oil crisis. Just before the crisis, Pan Am had just purchased a number of brand new gas-guzzling Boeing 747s and was forced to dramatically raise ticket prices to recuperate. As it was trying to recover from this setback it had also become a target of terrorism in the Middle East. To the terrorists Pan Am was a symbol of the United States overseas because it was the largest U.S. airline servicing the area. During the Gulf War, in the midst of financial hardships and battles with labor unions, Pan American 103 on a transatlantic flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit was blown up by Libyan nationals above the Scottish town of Lockerbie. The incident scared even more customers away from flying Pan Am and many travel agents would no longer book flights on their planes. All of these events and poor managing of them led Pan American International Airways to declare bankruptcy and completely fold in 1991. #7. “Borders”- Tom and Louis Borders opened their first bookstore in 1971. Their vast selection of books and innovative inventory system turned them into the second biggest chain of book megastores. Due to years of miscalculating the future of book consumption, the bookstore all but vanished in 2011. It all started in the mid 90s when Amazon and other online stores hit the scene. Instead of developing their own website and focusing on online sales, the company decided to further their storefront endeavors and expanded into Europe and Asia opening hundreds of stores. Their competitor Barnes and Noble, did the opposite by preparing for the digital age, perfecting their online sales system and focusing on their storefront operations in the United States. When Borders did start to catch on to the online market they were already far behind and decided to use Amazon as a host for such sales. Because of this, as more and more sales were made online, instead of receiving 100% of the profit they had to share with Amazon. Borders also was caught in the past by devoting lots of money and inventory towards DVDs and CDs at a time when digital music and video was on the rise. While Barnes and Noble developed it’s own e-reader to grab paperless book market by the horns, Borders was extremely slow to adapt to the change. All of these factors came to a boiling point in 2006 when, after several years of losing millions of dollars Borders filed for bankruptcy. By 2011, Borders realized there was no way out and closed most of its remaining stores. The only stores remaining are in southeast asia where it remain Borders in name only, as they were sold to a company named Popular Holdings.

Sandwich has become the most sought-after producer of videos for tech companies large and small. Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=theverge Building and launching an app is actually cheaper and easier than ever. With free tutorials and open source toolkits, the barrier to entry is low. Much of the complex backend work can be offloaded to big providers like Amazon or Facebook, who handle cloud storage or identity. Getting people to actually notice your company among the throng of new startups launching every day, however, is very tough. Unless you're featured in an app store or make it into the top 10, it can be difficult to find your initial traction. That's where a viral video comes in. Sandwich is a video production company that has found the perfect tone for the moment. Dry, self-deprecating, and hilarious, while simultaneously conveying lots of information and a sense of cool that comes from being a part of the near future. We've covered many of the companies they crafted videos for, from Casper to Coin to Push For Pizza. The company is taking a unique approach to working with startups, many of whom don't have the cash on hand to afford a slick, professionally produced video. They are accepting equity in the young businesses that they work with, and they're sometimes negotiating a revenue share. That gives Sandwich the same kind of upside that a venture capitalist might enjoy if the startup they are working with becomes the next rocket ship headed for an IPO. Google, Facebook and Amazon are among the biggest companies in the world. Their dominance is worrying for consumers and competition. Here's why. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: https://econ.st/2xvTKdy Can you imagine life without Google, Facebook or Amazon? Chances are you're actually on one of those platforms right now watching this. These companies have utterly transformed how we buy goods online and consume information online. But there's a growing view that the big web platforms need to be reined in. Google handles around 90% of searches in many countries and that gives it unprecedented access over information that people get. Facebook connects over 2 billion users or a quarter of the world's population. Both companies dominate online advertising which is how they make their money considering that their services are free. Amazon accounts for over 40 percent of retail sales in America and has a huge market share elsewhere. That lets it dictate terms to suppliers. Of course the companies are successful because they're innovative, they're dynamic, and they bring a lot of value to consumers. Problem is that their size brings worries. Today the major web companies are among the biggest firms in the world. A little over a decade ago they barely made the list. Critics worry that they're BAAD - that's big, anti-competitive, addictive and destructive to democracy. Now most of the concerns are overblown. Being big isn't illegal but the anti-competitive worries are real and we see early signs of it. Google has been fined by European regulators for favouring its own apps. Facebook has bought up startups that could have competed against it. The market share of the tech giants is as large as the industrial giants of the past. At the time regulators broke up the companies or treated them as utilities. Neither approach is gonna work today. First they should scrutinize even small mergers for potentially anti-competitive effects. This will prevent the tech giants from buying up firms that could become rivals. And second regulators should consider giving individuals rights over their data and potentially require the platforms to share data to encourage competition. It's hard to imagine how that might work in practice since nothing like that has been done before - but it is not impossible and just the threat of this compulsory openness might enforce good behavior. Did you know that dropshipping has changed… a LOT? Go back in time with Sarah & discover how! ►► Free $10,000/Month ebook: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step ►► Step-By-Step Video Dropship Course (The Dropship Club): https://thedropshipclub.com ***OTHER LINKS MENTIONED IN THIS VIDEO*** Is Dropshipping a Scam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sB7ZiLRzG4 10 Things to Do BEFORE Dropshipping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPKvNTly7Pg Amazon Has CHANGED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhPaVS6XJdE How to Create a Shopify Aliexpress Store: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXczHKgPdrw When most people think of “dropshipping” they think exclusively about Aliexpress or Shopify. But dropshipping has existed WELL before both of these things. Follow Sarah on a journey back in time to discover the origins of dropshipping and how it’s changed… The 60s & 70s: Dropshipping Before the Internet Did you know that dropshipping actually began before the internet? It was kickstarted by mail order companies. In the 60s & 70s, companies were taking advantage of mail order catalogs, including large companies like JCPenny & Sears. It was very profitable for them, but it was a challenge to pick, pack and ship individual items out to customers. The solution? They developed fulfillment warehouses that were specially designed to speed up this process (a lot of people think that Amazon FBA warehouses were the first fulfillment warehouses, but they aren’t - but they did revolutionize them and massively improve them). When they created these, other exclusive mail order companies like CompuCard saw these fulfillment centers and knew that these represented a great opportunity: they could resell these items individually in their catalog and purchase them from these fulfillment centers. They did - and it worked. This was the first form of major-scale dropshipping. The 90s: Dropshipping & the Dot Com Bubble When the internet was introduced to the mainstream public in the 90s, it took a long time for consumers to feel comfortable purchasing items online and using their credit cards. But by the late 90s, ecommerce stores were starting to grow - and a lot of online stores like Pets.com popped up. They made big promises to investments, riding the wave of euphoria that arose from more and more people trusting online stores. These online stores like Pets.com raised millions of dollars from investors. Unfortunately, these stores were not profitable: they were dropshipping from USA dropshippers that had become a lot more expensive over time due to increased shipping demands. And so by 2001, a lot of these stores went bankrupt as they were unsustainable, and the dot com bubble burst. The 2000s: The Rise of Amazon.com & eBay.com Two companies that survived the dot com bubble and burst were Amazon & eBay. These two sites revolutionized how individuals could sell online. No longer did you need to go through the technical, expensive process of creating an online store and advertising it. Now you could list your items on their site and let them drive the traffic for you. For dropshipping, this was a huge boom. Previously it was very expensive to use dropshippers as not only did USA dropshippers charge a lot for their items, they had to spend an enormous amount of money during the store development and advertising phases. Facebook ads was not released until 2007, and it took several years for it to become as good as it is today. The only real option was Google Ads, which was and is very expensive. But now, Amazon & eBay advertised their website on behalf of individual sellers, which meant that dropshipping was now viable for anyone - not just large corporations. 2010-2018: The Chinese Revolution with Aliexpress, Shopify & Oberlo In 2010, dropshipping was changed forever. Previously, working with Chinese dropshippers was complicated, which was why most individual dropshippers chose to work with USA dropshippers. But in 2010, Alibaba released Aliexpress: and made purchasing individual items from Chinese manufacturers & dropshippers as simple as purchasing an item from an online store via a checkout. It removed the language & cultural barriers, and made the whole process even easier than working with USA suppliers - while being MUCH cheaper! In addition, Shopify arose during this time, which made creating an ecommerce store much easier. And then in 2015, Oberlo came out: a Shopify app that turns Shopify stores into semi-automated Aliexpress dropshipping stores. This was so successful, that in 2017 Shopify actually purchased Oberlo, and integrated the app even further. And thus we arrive at today. Now we can dropship in our own stores & control our own destiny, because… 1) We have access to cheap dropshippers & items with Aliexpress. 2) It’s simple, easy & affordable to create professional semi-automated dropshipping stores with Shopify & Oberlo. 3) Traffic is simple & cheap thanks to Facebook ads.

Mary Barra, Chairman, and CEO of General Motors recently commented on the automobile industry at large. She said, “I believe the auto industry will change more in the next 5 to 10 years than it has in the last 50.” She couldn’t have described the transforming face of the automotive sector more succinctly. From electric vehicles to driverless cars to smart automotive paraphernalia, the automobile industry has given the world state of the art products in recent times, making consumers continuously hunger for newer models that sport even better, cutting-edge technology. Globalization has also contributed immensely to the metamorphosis of the automobile industry. Setting up value chains across the globe to leverage the best that each geography has to offer has become a popular and profitable trend. The most pivotal aspect that can help an automobile company achieve sustainable growth in these fast-changing times is internal communication. Here is how a robust internal communication strategy can help companies gain a competitive edge: 1. Supports Cross-Functional Projects – Innovation has become the new driver for growth and success, and most companies recognize the need for enhanced R&D efforts, better employee outreach, and a much tighter organizational structure. Cross-functional projects that use the best available employees from all over the world and utilize the diverse skill sets that such team members bring to the table are most effective in maximizing the innovation quotient. In such projects, effective team communication is critical for successful outcomes. An office messaging application that is easy to use and can offer real-time connectivity can be extremely beneficial in supporting these sort of projects. 2. Synchronizes Global Value Chains – Large companies often find themselves broken down in silos, especially if they have functions like marketing, product design, and manufacturing spread across geographic regions. Even in such a diverse structure, it is possible to smoothen operations by providing employees with better communication tools that can help them achieve better coordination across borders. A team collaboration system that is mobile based can help break down barriers by allowing teams from all over the world to work together optimally and avoid quality mishaps stemming from miscommunications. 3. Assists In Nurturing Desk-Bound and Non-Desk-Bound Employees – An automobile company usually employs a wide variety of people. From those who have strictly desk-bound jobs to those who do not require a desk at all to accomplish their daily goals at work, myriad people run the show at such companies. Engaging everyone has been a daunting yet essential task. A mobile app that can help foster healthy work relationships by offering a secure knowledge sharing platform can engage people in all types of jobs and at all hierarchical levels. 4. Helps Improve Connectivity With All Stakeholders – Automobile companies typically work with an extensive network of suppliers and distributors. Both manufacturing and sales depend upon how well connected you are with these peripheral yet integral stakeholders. Communicating with them via email especially in times of crisis when immediate responses are required, can be ineffective. Instead, a business communication app is a better option since it provides better accessibility and speed of communication. Such an improvement in communication can help boost sales. Office Curry’s catalog of tools can help automobile companies achieve all the above benefits through modern-day features that can help engage employees and nurture a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Well, I hope you're enjoying the festive period, however you choose (or not choose) to celebrate it. Of course, Christmas seems to mostly be about materialism these days (nod to capitalism), so it seems appropriate that I've got a huge pile of donations to open for the holiday season. Some of these are viewer donations, others are from companies wishing for their products to be seen by all (although they tend to ask me first, so I can weed out anything which I don't like). Game of Phones (now including Nexus 6) - iPhone 6 v Galaxy S5 v Nexus 6 V One M8 v G3 v Firephone v One Plus. Who do YOU think will win the Game of Phones? ►Share this Video: http://youtu.be/1W4Ld-LtI5w Winter is Coming and the war intensifies. There is no longer one dominant brand or single product that leads the smartphone market. Even Apple, the most recognisable player in the market has been forced to recognise that. The iPhone is no longer just one product. The iPhone 5, 5c and 5s forked Apple's approach to the market and the iPhone 6 will take it a step further. In contrast to the iPad, the iPhone is getting bigger and will launch in two guises, one of these being a 5.5 inch phablet. It is a radical departure from the smartphone environment Apple has now reined for seven years. But it matters not to the masses. Four million devices have been pre-ordered: another record. And not only will many pay for the iPhone, Apple want you to pay for goods and services with the iPhone. If Applecan kickstart the mobile payment sector that has so far stalled, it will be another feather in their cap. But with the iPhone 6, Apple have been forced to do the previously unthinkable - recognise the competition. The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 places the product in a niche sector Apple ignored whilst Samsung cornered with their Galaxy Note device. The fourth incarnation not only has raw power but experience in the field, hence the stylus pen and software geared towards the smartphone-cum-tablet market. Samsung will be a stubborn opponent for Apple to shift; much like the smartphone market where the Samsung Galaxy S5 needs no introduction. They continue to be an Android flagship bearer, and while the S5 might be a little older than the new iPhone 6, at winter's end, Samsung with reinvent again. With Apple and Samsung now having large phone devices it only seems fitting to add Google to that list with the Nexus 6, albeit, through Motorola, a company Google has just sold to Lenovo. Along with this six inch titan, the latest version of Android called lollipop will also upgrade many existing smartphone over the next few seasons. That has a huge impact on many smartphone makers, including LG. Life hasn't been as good as it should have been for a company with long standing presence in the mobile market. But they have stepped out of the shadows with the G3 and many believe they are now capable of competing with the very best premium smartphones. That's the fascinating backdrop to this Game of Phones; it's a continuing narrative, constantly in flux. Old companies die, new companies emerge and outsiders attempt to infiltrate. Amazon are attempting to crack the market with the Firephone and the three backbone components this company will always provide its products are content, services and support. But some question whether this is enough in a fiercely competitive sector. The Smartphone domain is truly global which means consumers are constantly being exposed to new brands. The already massive and growing Chinese market is flexing its muscles with companies such as Huawei boasting a large catalogue of devices including one the thinnest smartphones in existence. When a company with more employees than Microsoft takes aim at the smartphone market it's hard not ignore the impact they will make. But other, comparatively much smaller companies, continue do battle in this arena through reputation. HTC is still a premier smartphone maker, although they are struggling. But they do have a winning formula. The HTC One M8 is almost indistinguishable from the previous model. The reason being many believe the design and build quality to be perfect. But there is One device many want though only a handful can obtain. The Oneplus one phone by One Plus has been labelled the flagship killer. It is said to perform as well as anything on the market at a fraction of the price and is free from the classic restrictions of mobile carriers. Unfortunately, its release and availability is severely limited by the company's resources. What you see here is a small fraction of the Smartphone market. It continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. It is 25% larger than this time last year. 300 million units were sold in the 2nd quarter of 2014. Even so, there are always casualties Sony have recently announced losses of $2 billion dollars, thanks in large part to their failing mobile business and, one might ask, whatever happened to Blackberry. Nokia and the Windows mobile operating system continue to whisper in the background but the current kings of the smart-throne appear to be established. Everyone has heard of the Apple iPhone, almost everyone, without even knowing it, has used an Android device. In less than a decade the smartphone has revolutionised not only the way we communicate, but the way we live. The world has embraced smartphones, the question we all want to know now is this. Which form of technology will be revolutionised next

[Recorded November 13, 2018] When Clayton Christensen’s book The Innovator’s Dilemma came out in 1997, it disrupted the business world and became an instant classic, named by the Economist as one of the six most important books about business ever written. In it, the Harvard professor explained how and why new competitors could come seemingly out of nowhere and cause leading companies to fail. In nearly a dozen books and more than a hundred articles, award-winning Christensen has applied his theory of disruptive innovation to a range of industries and institutions, including healthcare and education, demonstrating how to remain competitive in a quickly changing world. His upcoming book, Prosperity Paradox, tackles the challenge of economic development, asking why, despite billions of dollars in investment over decades, so many investments fail to generate sustainable prosperity. The solution? A new, sustainable framework based on entrepreneurship and market-creating innovation to help lift nations out of poverty. During this event “the World’s Most Influential Business Management Thinker” discusses his ground-breaking ideas, including how to apply disruptive innovation to companies, countries, and even our personal lives, with Intuit Cofounder and Chair Scott Cook. Some dead sharks are worth $12 million. The biggest factor in the price of art often isn't quality, or effort – it's branding. But when a new artist steps into the art market, he or she has no reputation – no branding. That's where art dealers come in. They promote, educate, and help artists to gain fame and success. To learn more about the economics of the art market, you can get Don Thompson's "The $12 Million Stuff Shark" here: https://www.amazon.com/Million-Stuffed-Shark-Economics-Contemporary/dp/0230620590 Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. This video tutorial will teach you how to find a supplier on Alibaba & find a Chinese manufacturer. ►► Free Ebook - Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Step 1: Go to Alibaba and find the search bar. Type in the name of a product that you are interested in selling. In this video I used vitamin pills as an example. Step 2: Because a lot of suppliers have duplicate listings on Alibaba for the same item (because it increases their presence in the Alibaba search engine) you will need to filter the results by clicking on “browse by suppliers.” Step 3: To filter the results down further, search by “Gold Suppliers.” Most suppliers will do this because it has become basically a prerequisite for having new buyers contact them. It doesn’t cost them much money to do this, so the results will only be filtered by a small amount. Step 4 (OPTIONAL): If the list of suppliers is still too long, then click to filter the results by “assessed supplier.” This is only necessary in very popular niches where you have a large number of suppliers that you need to filter down to a manageable amount. Step 5: Contact 10-20 suppliers at least. If you have time, then contact more. The more you contact, the better. Here is the email template referenced in our video tutorial on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: "My name is [INSERT NAME] from [INSERT BUSINESS NAME]. Our company director asked me to contact your company about working together on a lucrative, long-term venture. We are a company that sells products related to [INSERT NICHE HERE] and we do over 2 million dollars in sales each year. We’re looking to expand our product range and create a profitable partnership between your company and ours. We are planning to purchase [INSERT ITEM] to our product line. It would need to meet these specifications: * Specification (e.g size) * Specification (e.g. quantity) * Specification (e.g. colour) We have been researching different companies in China that manufacture [INSERT ITEM] and we think that your company could be a great supplier for it. We would like to get some more information and have a few questions that we would like you to please answer: * Can we please get a sample of the product as soon as possible. Can you please let us know how much you will charge for the sample, including Express shipping to [INSERT COUNTRY], zip code [INSERT ZIP CODE]? We would like to pay with PayPal. * How long will it take to receive the sample? * What types of packaging do you usually use for this product? * How long does it take to manufacture once an order has been placed? * What is the product-per-unit cost including shipping via Air Express to the United States, ZIP code 85043? * Do you accept PayPal for the full-order?" We would be very grateful if you would contact us with answers to the above questions as well as any additional policies that we may need to know. We would also like to discuss with you further about doing a sample order for the product. We are hopeful that we can start a mutually beneficial relationship. Please add me on Skype and talk to me, as this is my ideal form of communication: [INSERT ID] Alternatively you can email me back at this address: [INSERT ADDRESS] Kind regards, [NAME]” Here are some final tips to keep in mind when you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba to manufacture your Amazon FBA private label products: Tip #1 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Don’t judge the supplier/manufacture by their Alibaba response rate. The Alibaba response rate only takes into account how fast they respond within Alibaba’s email system, and it doesn’t take into account how fast they reply to personal emails. This is not a good indicator of how responsive they will be to private communication, which is all you should care about. Tip #2 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Avoid manufacturers that try to vet your business. If a manufacturer comes back and starts asking questions about your business, clearly skeptical of the size of your company, it is best to move on. Manufacturers that do this will usually decline to work with you as they are only to work with other large companies, so you don’t want to waste your time. Tip #3 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: It is OK to work directly with a sales rep - if they offer you a better deal. When you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba, you’ll discover that sales reps often have inflated prices (due to commission cuts). But occasionally, a sales rep will have a better relationship with a factory and so are able to negotiate lower prices. They will also often have good english, making communication easier. Vet sales reps and treat them as equals during the process of picking and choosing the right supplier.

Instagram: https://goo.gl/CduwlO Subscribe to the Vox Borders newsletter for weekly updates: http://www.vox.com/borders-email I spent a day in Oslo before traveling to Svalbard, and noticed that there were Teslas everywhere. Upon further investigation, I learned that the Norwegian government heavily incentivizes ownership of electric cars: Tesla doesn't pay a sales tax on the models it sells, electric car owners are exempt from automobile tolls, and they can charge their vehicles for free. The catch is that Norway funds these initiatives through its sovereign wealth fund, which is almost entirely comprised of profits from Norway's oil and fossil fuel exports. Main Topic: Seed Catalogs You Should Have On Your Coffee Table As I’m writing this it’s 27 degrees and looks like it could start snowing anytime, I’m sitting here drinking coffee and longing for the days coming when I will be out in the garden with sweat on my brow and dirt under my finger nails. There is a way in which I maintain my sanity while I’m waiting and that way is seed catalogs. http://www.CoreXpand.com/PunchoutVideos - This 7 part series will give you no-fluff, cut-to-the-chase information that will tell you exactly what you need to know and, more importantly how to really make money with PunchOut catalogs. Here's the last of 7 critical questions that every business should ask before selecting a punchout provider, along with the seventh and final key punchout success principle that will help you get the most out of your punchout catalog investment. 7. How can PunchOut catalogs help my business grow? This is not just the million dollar question... it's the multi-million dollar secret that eludes over 90% of all small to medium-sized businesses out there. Surprisingly, there are still Fortune 500 companies who have failed to fully put the pieces together in the way you're about to discover. The fact is, most businesses don't think strategically about PunchOut catalogs. PunchOuts are just one facet of e-commerce/e-business in general. That's why an effective PunchOut strategy can be one of the most profitable and exciting approaches a business can take to ignite explosive growth. But there are only a handful of businesses that truly understand what an effective PunchOut strategy entails. That leaves an enormous gap out there that is just begging to be filled by business owners and sales managers who are capable of seeing a bigger picture. You may need to have a conversation with an experienced e-commerce/e-business strategist to fully understand how this applies to your particular circumstances or situation, but here is the basic outline of the three-point strategy that can turn simple PunchOut readiness into rapid growth and amplified sales (note: we'll be covering this strategy in more detail in a future video series): 1. Leverage your PunchOut capabilities As you now know, large purchasing organizations are actively looking for suppliers who can participate in their programs. And yet, there are a small percentage of businesses that take advantage of PunchOut. This leaves the door wide open for you to become part of a small group of strategic thinkers who are enjoying the benefits of acting on a bigger picture. 2. Explore and capitalize on referral networks Providing a stable, user-friendly punchout catalog that was created to meet your customer's exact needs will help you not only make sales, it will create relationships. These relationships often lead to referrals to other buying organizations. Also, the most trusted and established PunchOut providers have built solid reputations due to the quality and reliability of their suppliers' PunchOut catalogs. Accordingly, they are plugged in to a vast network of buyers to which they will gladly refer you. 3. Leverage your technology and data to protect your key accounts and expand your prospect base While the appeal of larger customers (those companies using e-procurement systems) is obvious, you should also understand that there are 10s of thousands of medium sized companies who simply can't afford the e-procurement software price tag. In fact, the number of companies underserved by suppliers who don't offer some form of adaptable ecommerce technology is staggering. But these businesses have the same pressures to control spend and streamline costs as their larger counterparts, and they are also looking for suppliers that can help them save time and money while reducing risk. This fact is both the biggest threat to your existing key accounts and the greatest potential for positioning yourself light years beyond your competitors. With recent advancements, you can beat your competitors to provide your key accounts, as well as new prospects with adaptable customized catalogs, even if they don't have an e-procurement system. The most advanced PunchOut technology now allows you to serve your clients and prospects with the same specialized purchasing benefits of a PunchOut catalog (adaptable workflow routings, flexible payment options, etc.) without the need for an e-procurement system. And that brings us to PunchOut Success Key Principle #7 Because of the ever-increasing role of e-commerce in today's online world, it's important that your PunchOut provider has the technology and expertise to help you pursue other channels of strategic growth. That means that your catalog data should be mounted on a platform that also allows you to expand your reach to serve prospects and clients without an e-procurement system. Suppliers who think strategically about their technology and data and act on these principles and strategies are becoming dominant forces in the marketplace. To see how any of the information in this series applies specifically to your business, we invite you to have a conversation with one of our ecommerce experts and PunchOut specialists. For a no obligation, no pressure, no hassle conversation about your specific situation, simply go to http://www.CoreXpand.com/PunchoutVideos

Twelve Pakistani textile companies participated at Texworld, the bi-annual International textile exhibition held in Paris from 17th to 20th September, 2018. The Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin ul Haque visited the Pakistan Pavilion established at the exhibition and met various companies and thanked them for their participation showcasing a wide range of their quality textile and leather products. The Ambassador noted with satisfaction that the Pakistan’s exports to France are following an upward trajectory since the launch of economic diplomacy initiated by the Embassy in 2016. In the year 2017, total bilateral trade increased to US$1.58 billion compared to US$1.467 billion in 2016. He added that the data for first months 2018 reflected 8% increase in the bilateral trade, which was a welcoming trend. Some of the major Pakistani textile groups/exporters namely Nishat Mills, Kohinoor, Sapphire, Kamal Limited, Siddique Sons and Master Textile had also established their theme based customized pavilions which attracted large number of potential buyers. http://www.musicdomination.com/music-publishing-video-course http://www.musicdomination.com http://www.dennissinnott.com If you’ve ever had a passion for making it big time in the music industry – the one area that could do it for you, is music publishing. Having success in one or two songs - is a great feeling - especially when you and your songwriters are making income on a regular basis. Now, imagine having success – not just in one or two songs – but many thousand. You see, while managers and record companies focus primarily on making artists famous, music publishers – focus on making songs famous. Succeeding in music publishing comes down to three things: (1) making sure you have a thorough knowledge of all the intricate rights given to you in a song, and exploiting those rights to the fullest. (2) Familiarize yourself in all areas of licensing. In short, become a licensing specialist. In my experience, licensing is where the real money is. By making it your business to know the different types of deals - domestic and overseas licensing - such as exclusive development agreements, overrides, back to backs, grand rights, royalty pools etc - will set you apart – from a lot of your opposition. As a skilled licensing specialist, there is nothing you can't achieve in this industry. (3) Build catalogs - huge catalogs. In this world of digital, anyone with ambition can build a music empire from this business. I'll show you how! One area for building super large catalogs is public domain music. Here, there are hundreds of thousands of some of the greatest songs ever written - in areas such as Jazz, Ragtime, Swing, Blues, Country, early Beale Street, Classical and many others. Check the copyright status carefully before doing an arrangement. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line. You can start with a catalog of orchestrations, sell the printed scores and parts over and over, to the thousands of brass bands, military bands, college bands and symphony orchestras around the world. Those buying the parts will perform your music – generating public performances, television, radio broadcasts, film synchronization – and yes, streaming and downloading. Next, you can build your own mood (sound recorded) library, where your music can be used in films for features, back ground and incidental music – there’s hundreds of new films and television productions, coming out in the next two years alone – with producers screaming out for great music. Grand rights for musicals, is another huge area - of which rights you can own. If you’re excited at the prospect of building your own publishing empire, just drop me a line. I’m only too happy to help! Your friend and mentor, Dennis R. Sinnott

Massive brands and companies around the world are starting to decline and go out of business because they are over-investing their time and money into old media advertising like magazines and TV, which simply isn't practical. If you are trying to grow your brand and reach your target audience, you need to pay attention to where their attention currently is... It's really not that complicated. People aren't reading magazines and news papers like they used to, instead people are reading Facebook posts and looking at photos on Instagram. If you don't adapt, you will die. It's about more than just economics. To learn more, visit https://reconnectingasia.csis.org/map/ Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO China's Belt and Road Initiative is the most ambitious infrastructure project in modern history. It spans over 60 countries and will cost over a trillion dollars. The plan is to make it easier for the world to trade with China, by funding roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. China is loaning trillions of dollars to any country that's willing to participate and it's been a big hit with the less democratic countries in the region. This makes the BRI a risky plan as well. But China is pushing forward because its goals are not strictly economic, they're also geopolitical. To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view.
