I don't know about you guys but for me breakfast is everything! Not only I try to make my breakfasts nutricious and yummy but I also try to make them look good. Because stylish and fun breakfast sets great mood for the working day. So here's the hack. I guess everybody has some eggs and sausages in the fridge pretty much all the time. You'll need 4 and a half sausages. First of all, cut every sausage in halves. Then cut every half in half again. And join two parts together with a toothpick. Now put these sausages in the form of a star on the frying pan and break three eggs inside of the star. When your starry eggs are ready take out the toothpicks and add some tomatoes and greens to your liking! Great way to debone cherries especially if you will feed them to an infant is following. Take a glass bottle with a narrow neck, put a cherry on top one by one and then press on it with a wooden stick. Chopsticks will work just as good. Simply genius and incredibly easy way to peel off kiwis – cut a kiwi in half, take a mixer whisk, insert it right in the kiwi and turn around. You’ll get 4 neat slices without any traces of kiwi peel, which is notorious for the tongue irritation. Here’s how to cut a pomegranate in the best way possible. Cut out an upper part of the pomegranate’s skin in a circle or a pentagon. Take it out and then you’ll see the lines where you need to cut in order to take off the seeds properly. Here's an awesome way to roast an onion. Cut it with an apple cutter, soak in an egg wash, strew it with breadcrumbs profusely, and put in the boiling oil. Voila! Your onion lotus is ready! It's great to eat with ketchup by the by! It's not a normal Dubai Street Food, but that's why it's so good. It is an extremely rare Arab food nowadays! You have to be incredibly lucky to experience this whole camel platter! This is definitely one of the must try foods in Dubai! It is a traditional Emirati food and is one of the best things to do in Dubai. Camel meat is something that may be sensitive to some viewers, so make sure you're comfortable with watching the camel cooking! The chefs who prepared the camel recipe were originally from the South of India in Kerala, but have been living in Dubai for over 20 years. If you're thinking of traveling to Dubai for a food trip, you can't go wrong, there is so much delicious Emirati cuisine and amazing street food to try! I must admit, most of the food is in Dubai restaurants that are clean and quiet, but that is part of the charm of Dubai. If you are ONLY eating one a day with your other meals, you have options. 1. Cut the recipe in half, or 2. Put 4 meals in the freezer and 3 meals in the fridge. 3. Guideline 7 - Healthy, tasty and easy lunch ideas It seems simple but often becomes a daunting task to actually figure what to pack for lunch. Kids get bored easily of eating the same food and sometimes we are just plain short on time to cook fresh meals. So here are some quick ideas that are healthy, tasty and easy - 1. Roti, jaggery and ghee - excellent for both the long and the short breaks. You can give a roti with jaggery and ghee on the side or have the child spread it and make a roll of it and you have a nutrient dense dabba ready. Can even use last night’s roti. Especially good in winters or when the kid is down with cough, congestion or has low immunity. If your kid has frequent allergies, pick the liquid jaggery, it’s in season right now. In summers you have the choice of roti with ghee and sugar or its totally ok to continue with jaggery too. 2. Dahi-rice/ rice with tadka/ Fodnicha bhat/ Vagahrelu bhat/ lemon rice - Easy to cook and tastes great even when cold. Rice typically doesn’t taste great when its not piping hot but thanks to its versatile nature, give it a vaghar or tadka or mix dahi and it turns into a great snack. You can send the tadka rice with dahi or chaas that has hing or curry leaves along with a pinch of rock salt and you have a complete meal which is also a perfect mix of pre and pro-biotics. No yogurt in the market can match that. Good in all seasons, makes for a great big break snack or an after school snack. 3. Fresh fruit - Banana is my favourite, especially for growing kids, athletic kids and girls who get cramps during periods or if you have a kid whose knees hurt in the evening. Rich in minerals, packed with Vit B and rich in taste, this one is not to be missed on. Also don’t turn a blind eye to the ber, guava and amla that are in season right now or the mango, jamun, seetaphal, karvand when they come. Diversify your kid’s fruit portfolio and don’t buy into the marketing of kiwis, berries and the likes. Crucial at all ages, local fruits should be introduced as early as 2 years of age. Surely put them on your teenager’s plate. From constipation to acne and everything in between, the local, native fruits are a perfect cure for all. Good for the small break, post sports and as school bus snack. Essentially, sit down with your child and draw up a 5 day menu. Help them pick options based on what is - Local, seasonal, traditional. And teach them to factor in for cooking time too. Let’s teach our children to choose food based on climate resilience and not convenience. And what should never be a part of the dabba - 1. Chocolate 2. Chips 3. Ready to eat snacks 4. Juices 5. Colas. I can go on but I think you get my point already. Arugula and Pomegranate Salad with Maple Vinaigrette Ingredients 1/2 bag of arugula 1/4C chopped apples (I used honey crisp apples but any crisp apples work) 2T pomegranates 2 sliced strawberries 2 strips of maple bacon (cook these ahead of time) goat cheese to taste pecans to taste Maple Vinagrette Dressing Ingredients 1T apple cider vinegar 1T balsamic vinegar 1t dijon mustard 1t maple syrup pinch of salt 1/4C extra virgin olive oil Creamiest Mashed Potato Ever Ingredients 1 large russet potato 1/4C butter 1/2C heavy whipping cream salt Roasted Lemon Garlic Mushrooms Ingredients 1 small pack of baby bella mushrooms 1/2 medium garlic minced 1/4C low sodium soy sauce 1t Worcestershire sauce 1/4t parsley 1/4t lemon zest 2T butter pepper to taste Chocolate covered strawberries Ingredients 1C semi sweet chocolate chips 1T extra virgin olive oil Seared Ribeye 1 Ribeye steak sea salt to taste pepper butter *Instructions - Take the steak out of the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for 20- 30 minutes (yes this will make a difference in the final result!). Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place your pan on the stove and let it heat up on medium high heat. Season steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides and massage. Once pan is hot add butter and as soon as the butter turns brown add the steak. Cook for 2 minutes without touching it. After 2 minutes, turn and cook for another 2 minutes. Then immediately transfer to the oven and let it finish cooking int he oven. The amount of time in the oven is going to depend on how you want your steak cooked (see the temperature chart below). We like our steak medium so I check it with a thermometer after 2 minutes and it's usually pretty close to being done. If it hasnt' quite reached the temperature that you like then put it back in the oven and check again after a minute. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes out of the oven before cutting it so it can finish cooking. ** If you don't have a pan that is safe to use in the oven you can put a sheet pan in the oven while its preheating so it can get super hot. As soon as you're done cooking the steak on the stove, take it out of the pot and place it directly on top of the sheet pan and follow the normal instructions listed above. Heat olive oil in a skillet on medium high heat. When oil is hot, add red pepper flakes. Red pepper flakes add a nice heat, but substitute fresh peppers, or even a little cayenne if you like. Add garlic and saute for 1 minute. Use as much garlic as you like. I prefer lots of garlic. I literally used an entire bulb. It seems like a lot, but the oil and garlic are gonna taste great when paired with thick slices of fresh bread. Add the shrimp, and continue sauteing on medium high heat. Once the shrimp hits the pan, it'll only take about 3 minutes to cook. Don't overcook the shrimp; they will become rubbery if cooked overly long. Add paprika, and salt and pepper to taste. Saute shrimp until just cooked, when shrimp begin to color and curl, then remove the skillet from the heat. Add lemon juice and fresh chopped parsley. You will need: - peach - yogurt - apple strips Put some yogurt on a plate and place a half of the peach in the middle - it looks just like a fries egg, but definitely is 10 times healthier and full of vitamins! Now add some apple strips as a healthy french fries version. Yummy! 2. Egg in the clouds To cook this delicious breakfast you will need: - eggs -cheese Separate egg whites from egg yolks. Whip egg whites into a white foam, add some grounded cheese. Place the mixture on a cooking tray, put the yolks on top and cook it in the oven at 230c for 3 minutes. The eggs look unique and amazing! 3. One minute chocolate pastry This is probably the fastest and easiest pastry idea you can cook in just one minute. Take a piece of puff pasty (you may buy it in the store or make it yourself). Now put a chocolate bar in the middle and wrap it in the pastry. Make a braid pattern for decoration.
