You ever looked out at the open sea and thought, “What if I got swept away out there? What would happen to me?” Well, luckily for most of us, this is an unlikely scenario for a typical beach-goer. But this nightmare can come true if you're a fisherman and something has gone terribly wrong on your trip. That's exactly what happened to one man who spent over a year alone out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. His boat had neither a cabin nor any roof. And he even didn't have an anchor since he supposed that the trip wasn't going to take that long... His plan was pretty ambitious: he was going to spend 30 hours in the open ocean. - This trip was gonna be dangerous, and, naturally, the man couldn't hit the water without a second pair of hands. He found a 22-year-old volunteer who agreed step in to. - Alvarenga knew that a storm was rapidly approaching the area, but nothing could stop the fishermen from starting the journey. One good catch would be a week’s-worth of salary. - That’s when the heavy rain started – the storm had reached the men. Alvarenga had to take drastic measures. He dumped all the fish and several thousand dollars-worth of equipment into the ocean. - Several vessels and aircraft started a search-and-rescue operation that lasted for two days. But the weather was gradually getting worse, and it eventually became impossible to keep searching. - Alvarenga and his fishing partner were left on their own. And 5 days later, when the winds had died down a bit, they were 280 miles away from the shore, out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with nothing but blue water all around them. - During their voyage, they fed themselves on raw fish and turtles that they’d caught with their bare hands. They also grabbed birds that were unlucky enough to land on the boat. - But they were getting weak, especially Alvarenga’s fishing partner. Tragically, he did fall ill and wasn’t able to survive. - The fisherman spent months adrift in the ocean. The boat kept going until one day he saw land! It was a small island, Tile Islet, that was part of the Marshall Islands. - It turned out that Alvarenga had traveled almost 7,000 miles before he got to the shore. And he was fortunate to come across the island. - After 11 days of rest and recuperation, the rescued fisherman had recovered enough to fly home to El Salvador. Way too many people think they understand the difference between net and gross (so the difference between net income and gross income, the difference between net pay/salary and gross pay/salary, etc.) but unfortunately, they usually don't understand the concepts properly. Through this video, I did my best to provide an easy-to-understand definition and especially explanation of net and gross (income, pay/salary, you name it). Also, through carefully-chosen examples, I hope I've managed to get the message across in a way that leaves little room for interpretation. Study Aircraft Engineering online with these courses: http://ow.ly/R94y30n89Ch Aircraft Engineering books: https://goo.gl/9i3UDa Part66 Engineer App: https://goo.gl/nvYi8f Avionics Technician Salary. Training & Pay For Avionics Engineers In this video I talk about the salaries and training for Avionics Technicians. I'll describe the salary range you can expect in various countries around the globe. Then I conclude with a few tips on how to get started on your training in the UK, India, and the USA. Avionics Technicians are essential to the aviation and aerospace industries. They specialise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the electronic components that make us so much of modern aircraft. You may see any one of these terms used to describe the same role; Aircraft Electrical Systems Specialist, Avionics Electronics Technician, Aviation Electrical Technician, Avionics Electrical Technician, Aircraft Navigation/Communications Systems Technician, Avionics Bench Technician, Aircraft Bench Technician. Avionics Technicians are responsible for installing the wiring, instrumentation, and software throughout the aircraft. This could include anything from flight instruments to passenger entertainment systems. Avionics Technicians remove malfunctioning instruments and install new ones in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The instruments in need of repair will be sent to the Aircraft Bench Technicians who will examine and troubleshoot the device. They will then test those repairs to ensure the instruments are functioning correctly before they are used again on operational aircraft. The work of Avionics Technicians has a direct effect on the safety of aircraft, the crew, and the passengers, so it is a responsible position that requires skilled personnel. As with most careers, pay and benefits are commensurate with experience and responsibilities. The following figures are annual averages collected late in 2018. They are base salaries so they don't include any bonuses, overtime, or profit shares that may be offered. This is an important point to remember because such extras can make a significant difference to your take-home pay. Australia, AU$55,000 rising to AU$96,000 Australian Dollars. Canada, C$43,000 rising to C$80,000 Canadian Dollars. Dubai, AED 58,000 rising to AED 473,000 Arab Emirate Dirhams. India, Rs 256,000 rising to Rs 2,000,000 Rupees. Philippines, PHP 180,000 rising to PHP 707,000 Philippine Pesos. South Africa, R63,000 rising to R408,000 Rand. United Kingdom, £23,000 rising to £37,000 Pounds Sterling. Learn how much an underwater welding salary is per year: http://waterwelders.com/swim-salary-how-much-do-underwater-welders-earn/ Hyperbaric welders make their income based on a series of variables, including location, difficulty and risk. On the high end, diver-welders can make up to $300,000. But here's the full picture: Separate rumors from facts: Many believe that underwater welders only specialize in wet welding techniques. In fact, many other responsibilities make up the daily life of welder-divers. In this video, you'll learn about the difference between offshore and inland working environment. Each work within a specific schedule and are paid by the hour. Though inland underwater welders often make less money, their regular schedule offsets the pay. Finally, you'll find out a little more about career options in this field. Many are scared away by high turnover rates and a heavily network-dependent maritime industry. Though there's much work to be done on the front end in establishing contacts, underwater welders find a rewarding and prosperous career if they stick it out and connect with a professional network. If you're interested in learning more information about salaries, factors and careers in the underwater welding field, you can check out Water Welders' website.

If you like us, please subscribe. ------- Underwater Welding Underwater welding is an interesting and somewhat dangerous career. This career falls under the broader category of commercial diving. Many underwater welders also do other underwater maintenance jobs as professional divers. Mechanism of the process Welders start by taking photographs of the affected areas of the project. They’ll then go through a process of recommending supplies or equipment, and lay out how long a job will take. Then, they will do the actual welding and repair work in the underwater world to which they have unique access. Education and Training Requirements Underwater welding requires experience and certification as both a diver and a welder. Underwater welders and other professional divers start out as apprentice divers, also known as diver tenders, and then move into being underwater welders in their own right. Getting the Job Most Companies will only hire those who have worked as diver tenders for a number of years. Some larger companies will contract out positions on an as-needed basis, but others will hire full time underwater welding experts and will do some in-house training. Working Conditions and Environment This can be a somewhat dangerous job, as diving in itself can be dangerous. However, knowing and following proper protocol makes it much less dangerous. Welders can work in any conditions, including cold and rain, rougher seas, or calm, warm waters. Hours for this type of job can be long and irregular, and actual work may be somewhat sporadic. Because many of these jobs are worked on a contract basis, underwater welders may be required to travel all around the world for their work. It can be exhausting Salary It’s really difficult to establish an “average” salary in the underwater welding field . Some welders only make about $15,000 per year, but others can make over $200,000 per year. The reason is , for all underwater welding professionals, pay is usually per job, so salary can vary widely depending on how many jobs are available at any given time. ---------- Also, related to: The 10 Most Dangerous Jobs In The World Underwater Welding Underwater Welding Nuclear Power Plant (NEDCON Intl.) How China is quietly increasing its ability to wage war at sea SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The People’s Liberation Army Navy has been on a roll over the past month, staging successive air, naval and marine amphibious assault exercises across the Western Pacific. Most notably, a large naval deployment was observed on satellite imagery in late March – about 40 vessels including what appeared to be the aircraft carrier Liaoning. It was followed not far astern by a slightly smaller combat support ship, plus other vessels including submarines and two distinct three-aircraft aerial formations. Clearly, there should be no dispute among naval observers that the formation in which the fleet sailed amounted to what can be termed a photo and PR exercise. Some dismissed the manoeuvres as a propaganda exercise designed to flaunt the navy’s muscle, but others cautioned this could imply the PLA Navy has intensified its peacetime combat readiness and training. China’s first home-grown aircraft carrier set to carry out maiden sea trial Neither side is wrong, for both schools of thought encapsulate the meaning of gunboat diplomacy – the limited threat or use of naval force for the attainment of limited political objectives. Usually some form of photo opportunity is obligatory on major naval exercises and examples are bountiful. Examples include Exercise Malabar in July last year, with all three carriers of the US, Indian and Japanese navies sailing in formation with fighter jets blazing above, plus the Thailand-hosted Asean Multinational Naval Exercise late last year, to name just a few. The latest huge naval turnout in the South China Sea appears no different. But would it make sense for China to burn expensive fuel, taking so many warships and their crews away from other tasks, only to stage a photo op? Focusing on the apparent propaganda value of the manoeuvres solely based on the satellite pictures diverts one’s attention away from a more pertinent phenomenon. That is,... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The New York Knicks are valued at $3.6 billion, the highest valued team in the NBA for 3 straight years. But the basketball team has posted 5 straight losing seasons. The franchise gets its value off the court from fixed revenues from Madison Square Garden and TV revenue. Following is a transcription of the video: Narrator: In 2018, Forbes estimated the New York Knicks' value at $3.6 billion. Making it the highest valued franchise in the NBA for three straight years. But the team's business prowess hasn't translated to success on the court. The Knicks have endured five straight losing seasons, won one playoff series in the past decade, and gone through 11 coaching changes since 2001. Plus, the team's total attendance has fallen for the past two years. So if the Knicks aren't winning or even as popular anymore, why is the franchise so expensive? Well, it starts with the foundation and the Knicks' is Madison Square Garden. David Berri: "The stadiums are like amusement parks and there's such an atmosphere to go to it, that they've made it so that wins and gate revenue are increasingly have a smaller and smaller link." Narrator: According to Forbes, Madison Square Garden is valued at $828 million and accounts for 23% of the Knicks' value. Back in 2013, the Garden underwent a $1 billion renovation and the franchise is still profiting from it. The changes created new channels for sponsorship, like the Chase bridges, and in 2017 the stadium updated its suite membership, connecting with the Tao Group. Both factors amounted to a 9% increase in value from the previous year. Another key to the Knicks' off-court success is the organization's fixed revenues. Berri: "Fixed revenues are revenues not linked to wins. Fixed revenues in sports have gotten bigger, and bigger, and bigger over time. So a fixed revenue is your national broadcasting deal. It's not related to wins." Narrator: The NBA is currently in the midst of a nine-year, $24 billion national TV contract. The deal pays the NBA about $2.6 billion per year, which equals about $88.9 million per team. The payout is three times higher than the value of the NBA's previous one and that influx of cash caused the league's salary cap to jump. The cap jumped from $63 million to $94 million in two seasons and players' salaries rose along with it. One owner told ESPN, quote, "National revenues drive up the cap, but local revenues are needed to keep up with player salaries. If a team can't generate enough local revenues, they lose money," unquote. One major source of local revenue that factors into Forbes' valuation is local television markets. In 2017, the Knicks made $100 million on its local TV deal. In comparison, the Memphis Grizzlies, a team that, up until 2017, made the playoffs seven seasons in a row, have a TV market that is worth one-tenth of New York's.Berri: "So if you could have one of these giant television deals, whether you win or not is not gonna make a big difference." Narrator: Other teams in big markets have similar values to the Knicks. Teams with hefty TV deals, expensive stadiums, and low winning percentages round out the top of Forbes' list. While successful small-market franchises, like the Portland Trail Blazers, who've made five straight trips to the playoffs, and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who've reached the playoffs in eight out of the past nine years, end up in the middle of Forbes' list. These teams are better on the court, but they're worth half of what the Knicks or Lakers are worth. Berri: "There is not a statistical link between market size and wins in the NBA or in any other sport. Market size does not drive wins. So the Knicks are not struggling financially. They're doing quite well, I would guess, financially. They're not doing well on the court, but on-court performance is really mostly a function of your ability to evaluate talent. In that, there is some disparity in doing that." ------------------------------------------------------ Business Insider tells you all you need to know about business, finance, tech, retail, and more. South china sea: US fears China to wage SPACE WARFARE after historic far side of Moon landing SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- World W.ar 3: China could be gearing up to wage 'space warfare' the US has warned (Image: GETTY)China made a huge leap forward in space exploration on Thursday by successfully landing an unmanned probe on the Moon’s far side. But numerous experts have warned of the dangers of China’s space exploration programme. They point to the growing chasm between peaceful US scientific programmes devoted to exploration and discovery, and Chinese plans to turn space into what US vice-president, Mike Pence, has described a “w.ar-fighting domain”.On Thursday China landed a robotic spacecraft called Chang’e 4 on the far side of the Moon in a space exploration world first, touching down at 10.26am local time (2.26am GMT), according to Chinese state media. Of the Moon landing, Professor Hou Xiyun of Nanjing University said: “On the whole, China’s space technology still lags behind the West, but with the landing on the far side of the Moon, we have raced to the front.”In response to the moon landing, and in the face of growing Chinese dominance in outer space, some experts are questioning Beijing’s nefarious intentions. The Pentagon warned earlier this year China’s ambitious space programme was part of Chinese military plans to make space “central to modern warfare”.READ MORE: China lands on ‘dark side of the Moon’ in space WORLD FIRSTChinese leader Xi Jinping (Image: GETTY)Bob Walker, the space sdviser to Donald Trump's presidential campaign, told The Sunday Telegraph: “It's part of a more total Chinese effort.“This is an indication China has the capability to use the moon for military matters.“If you look at what they're doing in the South China Sea.“There are a number of elements to what the People's Liberation Army is doing in terms of aggressive military policy but space is a very big one.”Meanwhile, senior research fellow and China expert at the Heritage Foundation think tank in W... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What will happen if you pour salt in the corners of your house? Spoiler: it will change your life. Here are the most unusual and powerful uses for salt. What is going to happen to you if you spill salt? Duh, it will bring you bad luck. We are sure you heard that, and you might believe it, or not. But have you ever wondered where that superstition comes from? Some people believe it is because Judas Iscariot spilled it at the Last Supper. Others find a more practical explanation: spilling salt meant bad luck and future loss because it was expensive. Expensive and precious. Yes, you heard it right. And why would salt be that important to anyone? It has some magical powers you might have never heard of. TIMESTAMPS History of salt 1:12 Salt was used in different rituals 1:50 Reviving shower 4:04 Good luck charm 4:46 Money attraction 5:14 Support in a foreign environment 5:35 Wash off the negative energy 6:15 Protect your home from evil visitors 6:40 Cast out the evil objects 7:02 The “witch bottle” 7:32 Good luck, peace, and prosperity 8:30 Salt has been around for thousands of years. You might see it just as something you add to your meals to add some flavor to them, but it meant much more to our ancestors. Harvesting salt used to be a long and complicated process, so only the rich were able to afford it. Ancient Romans even paid their soldiers with it, and the army appreciated that. It helped them preserve food, so that was fair enough. If you look at the origins of the word “salary” you will even see something salt-like in it. Yes, it comes from the Latin word for “salt.” Did you know that? If not, “like” this video to show you have just learned something new. Okay, it is clear that salt was expensive and highly appreciated. But that is just one side of it. From very old times, it was used in different rituals because of its magical powers. Ancient Egyptians, for example, would not set on a journey without performing a ritual involving salt. They burnt it on hot coals to scare away the evil spirits. Then, and only then, the caravans got on their way across the desert. We hope these tricks will help you feel better and live in harmony. Airport or Flight Dispatcher Salary - Earnings in Airport Operations In this video I talk about the salaries that Flight Dispatchers can expect in various countries around the globe. I'll describe the salary range you can expect from junior to senior positions in the countries where jobs are plentiful. Then I'll conclude this video with a few tips on how to get started on your career. Aircraft or Flight Dispatchers are essential to the smooth running of any airport. Every commercial aircraft that takes off from an airport requires a team of people who ensure its departure is safe and on time. Flight Dispatchers are responsible for coordinating all the services and preparations required to ensure an aircraft leaves on schedule. There's a video in my channel with more information about this important job, but here are a few basic details. Flight Dispatchers start their shifts with checks on the status of the weather both current and forecast and for both the aircraft routes and destinations. For this reason, Flight Dispatchers need to be able to confidently interpret weather data, NOTAMs, and other forms of information relating to aircraft in flight. They arrange the cleaning of passenger aircraft and the loading of cargo aircraft. They arrange for the refueling, routine maintenance checks, and any ad hoc servicing that may be required on the aircraft. As with most jobs, pay and benefits are commensurate with experience and responsibilities, and Flight Dispatcher positions are no exception. The following figures are averages collected in late 2018. They are base salaries so they don't include any bonuses, overtime, or profit shares that may be offered. This is an important point to remember because such extras can make a significant difference to your take-home pay. Australia, the national average is AU$55,000 Australian Dollars. Canada, C$35,000 rising to C$57,000 Canadian Dollars. Dubai, AED14,000 rising to AED208,000 Arab Emirate Dirhams. Egypt, national average is 114,00 Egyptian Pounds. Germany, the national average is €17,000 Euros. India, Rs 407,000 rising to Rs 1,000,000 Rupees. Malaysia, national average is 135,000 Ringgits. New Zealand, national average is 101,000 New Zealand Dollars. South Africa, national average is 342,000 Rand. United Kingdom, £15,000 rising to £47,000 Pounds Sterling. United States, $30,000 rising to $91,000 US Dollars. How to become an Aircraft or Flight Dispatcher. The requirements for the role of Flight Dispatcher or Flight Operations Officer may vary from country to country but some things are common to all. https://democracynow.org - A shocking new exposé reveals how the U.S. Coast Guard is detaining thousands of suspected drug smugglers they arrest in international waters and keeping them jailed at sea for up to several months before they are charged in a U.S. federal court. Many of the suspects are low-level smugglers from impoverished fishing towns in Latin America. During their imprisonment at sea they are shackled on deck, exposed to the elements and denied access to lawyers and their families. The increased detentions began when General John Kelly headed the Pentagon’s Southern Command from 2012 to 2016. Kelly is now President Trump’s White House chief of staff after briefly serving as Secretary of Homeland Security. We are joined by Seth Freed Wessler, the journalist who broke the story in The New York Times Magazine in a piece headlined, “The Coast Guard’s ‘Floating Guantánamos.’” Wessler is a Puffin Fellow at the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute. The 10 Most Affordable Places to Live in Florida for 2018. ============= ► Subscribe for latest video ! ► https://goo.gl/lOasu9 ► Follow me on Twitter: https://goo.gl/srKHao ► Facebook: https://goo.gl/yB9XvG ============= These are the places in Florida where the cost of living is the lowest; where your salary goes the furthest. And when if you have the luxury of choosing where to live in the Sunshine State, then the cost of living should play a role in the decision. The places we name here are among the most affordable places to live in Florida now, but they may not be the absolute cheapest. Why? Because we did not include places that have high crime rates. I don’t think you want to try to save money by greatly increasing your chances, or that of your family, of becoming a victim of a violent crime. The place had to be what most people would consider "livable" because it has shops, restaurants and maybe even parks so you can enjoy your life. There are still a few places in Florida that are affordable and safe. Here are the 10 Most Affordable Places to live in Florida for 2018: 1. Dunedin. 2. Tavares. 3. Edgewater. 4. Fort Pierce. 5. Niceville. 6. Gainesville. 7. Sebastian. 8. Coconut Creek. 9. Apalachicola. 10. Port Orange. Thanks for watching this video. I hope it's useful for you.
