Brand strategy is one of my favourite topics. Today I share my 4 tips for finding the perfect name for your startup. This is the first step of creating a brand. I talk about brand names like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, AirBnB and more. As bonus, let's have a look at Apple. Steve Jobs loves apples, so he decided to call his company Apple. Initially nobody wanted to work with him, because they could not get their head around why a computer is compared with an apple. And now look at the success! Millions of people type on apples every single day! Because of Steve Jobs the dictionary need to be updated. That's why we call him visionary! Apple is no longer a healthy fruit, it's sophisticated hardware for anyone who can afford it. You know what they say, one apple a day keeps the doctor away! So make sure you get your apple!

http://vondranlegal.com/zip-counsel-affordable-trademark-legal-services/ YES YOU CAN SHARE THIS VIDEO ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS. MAKE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE TO OUR POPULAR CHANNEL! DON'T FORGET TO WATCH THIS IMPORTANT VIDEO WHICH TALKS ABOUT HOW TO "SEARCH" BEFORE YOU APPLY FOR A TRADEMARk. https://youtu.be/R7GqsYgOV4s Attorney Steve® does it again, this time with a helpful video for startup companies and individuals looking to register a federal trademark but who may not have the money to hire an intellectual property or trademark lawyer. This video is general legal information only and NOT legal advice or a substitute for legal advice. Trademark registration can be MUCH MORE COMPLEX than highlighted in this video. It is important to always do a thorough trademark search BEFORE applying for a trademark through the USPTO. Once you file, you cannot get your money back. So make sure there is no one else using your trademark before you apply. You can do this by searching the internet. Search for domain registrations that may be similar. Search on Google. You can Thomson Thomson to run a detailed paid search. You should also try to pick "arbitrary and fanciful" names as opposed to suggestive and descriptive terms. In other words "Nike" or "Xerox" are better names than "Sports Shoes Company" or "Copy Paper Inc." Be creative - think out of the box. Also, keep in mind there are many different things you can get a trademark (for goods) or service mark (for services) for. Examples are: 1. Your company logo 2. A slogan you use in your business 3. Nicknames (ex. "Johnny Football") 4. Your business name These are just a few of the common examples. At any rate, this video should help you understand what lawyers do when filing a trademark. This is the same process companies like LegalZoom do. So in short YOU CAN DO IT without a lawyer if you take time to read the screens, and watch some of their helpful videos the USPTO offers. If you need help and are willing to pay a LOW FLAT RATE FEE - we can help you. We can also help with the following: 1. Trademark name searches (we can help you pick a good mark to build your brand on) 2. Registering trademarks and service marks 3. Responding to office action letters (refusals or denials) from the trademark examiner 4. Cease and desist letters 5. Trademark arbitration, mediation, litigation 6. Domain name disputes For more information, call us at (877) 276-5084 or click on the link at the top of this page to go to our corporate homepage. As we like to say - we are The First Name In Legal Services" Hope you enjoyed this video!! Check out our others. Keep in mind there are RISKS associated with filing your own trademark with the USPTO (such as having to respond to an office action letter, or having your trademark denied when a good search would have prevented the filing), but many people are finding that filing a trademark application (for example to start your own clothing line, or a name of a band, or product name) is not as mysterious as people once thought. ATTORNEY STEVE TIP: Make sure you SEARCH your mark BEFORE you buy a domain name, engage in advertising, name your product etc. There is nothing worse than picking a name that some other company already has or which is "confusingly similar" to their name, This means your trademark will not register. This is the biggest risk of filing for your own trademark. Sometimes it is worth the money to just pay trademark counsel to search and file for your corporate trademark. We can do slogans, logos, and company names. _______________ PLEASE SUPPORT US ON PATREON - OUR GOAL IS TO BE THE LEADING PROVIDER OF LEGAL NEWS AND INFORMATION BUT WE THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN DO IT WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT. http://timothy-thomas.com Create brand names, branding yourself, and rebranding to get the most exposure for your business. Stop chasing customers and business partners. That is not the way to conduct a successful business. Build a brand by building rapport and credibility. You don't have to hire some super expensive marketing firm to get it done, although it is easier to just pay someone if you don't know what you are doing. Here is what you need to do. 1. Come up with some cool brand names for yourself. Here is a hint. Your name!!!! 2. Learn the art of branding yourself. How do you do that? First you need a personally branded website. Not your boring site, but something with a little more customization and excitement. Stop trying to sell people. Just focus on people problems and let then know how you can solve their problems. Stop trying to sell everything to everybody. Just focus on the customers problems. 3. Learn about rebranding. According to Wikipedia... Rebranding is is a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol, design, or combination thereof is created for an established brand with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, and competitors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebranding These are 3 simple techniques you can use to create brand names for yourself or business, ways of branding yourself but customizing your website, facebook, twitter, google plus, youtube channel, pinterest, instagram, etc, and lastly rebranding which is really shutting down the old you and recreating a new you. Kind of like a night club doing a building remodeling job and then changing the name. That is what you call rebranding. People like new shiny things, and they will pay for it. Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. // Got a good question from an email subscriber this week: "Why did you choose to name your YouTube channel 'SavvySexySocial' versus your name? What are the pros and cons?" -Makia I get this question a lot because a lot of people who are elevating a personal brand to become an industry expert will use their own name. For this Savvy Tuesday we'll talk about the process of choosing a name for your brand/blog and how important it is to being remembered by your audience. The fact of the matter is that ultimately the name that you choose doesn't matter. You can go with your personal name or not. The people who are remembered are the ones who are doing great things, putting out value and sharing interesting content that people want. If you never do anything to make a mark, your name will never matter regardless of what you chose. Savvy Sexy Social was never considered to have my birth name because of a couple reasons. I already had a personal presence online (Schmittastic) which was attached to my life vlogs and other passions. I needed something entirely separate for my new blog which would focus strictly on social media marketing and best business practices. In terms of launch and refraining from confusing people who might think this thing already existed, I came up with an individual name that would be an eye catcher, but also true to the purpose. Could I have called it Amy Schmittauer, Social Media Consultant? Sure. There's no reason why that really wouldn't have worked because my content would have helped me stand out. But I came up with something fun. Something cute that I would love to repeat back to people and tell them all about my work. And so that's what I stuck with. Go with what would make you happiest. Maybe people are telling you to use your name, but you'd rather not. Then come up with something that you love and run with it. You have to be excited to talk about it and the name might just be that thing that helps you. It is for me. I find it weird to talk about a blog that is the same as my name. 'Hi my name is Amy Schmittauer and I write the Amy Schmittauer blog.' Not really my thing, but people do it. So big deal! In the case that you want to sell the presence you're building down the road, maybe you don't want your name to be attached to it so that you can make it a smooth transition. For Savvy Sexy Social, that would be difficult because it's a very personal presence that I have in the videos, so for it to change drastically that would be a challenge to retain the audience. But maybe your situation is different and it would benefit you to come up with a unique name. Don't go with what you choose because all the experts are telling you the right thing. Go with your gut and be happy with it. If you're doing something special people will not only know your brand's name, they'll know your name, your dog's name, your Twitter handle, you other Twitter handle, you web address and your YouTube channel. Maybe even your email. When people care, they find you.

A startup name. It’s what people use to identify your company, and it can seem like a daunting task. Why is the name so important? Read our take on: https://valuer.ai/blog/14-tips-naming-your-startup/ A startup name. It’s what people use to identify your company, and it can seem like a daunting task. It’s the face of your company and everyone wants theirs to stick. Why is the name so important?A bad company name can be a signal to investors that you’re not to be taken seriously. So don’t let mental blocks overwhelm you on your path to creating a great name.Let’s say you have your headset on a name and you love it. MailChimp is a perfect example, their marketing strategy is also very entertaining, unique and memorable. They took names that rhymed with or sounded like MailChimp, like ‘MaleCrimp‘ and ‘FailChips‘, turning these ‘alternative’ brand names into their own unique ad campaigns.– Use Expert Help –There are consultants in the market that can help you, but usually, it’s not cheap.Even so, here’s a list of some free online resources if you’re open to anything.EditNamiumA great startup name generatorName MeshAn intelligent ranking and classification process that helps finds startup names.PanabeeNot just a cute logo, it's a search tool for domain names and company names.Werd MergeDoes what it says, it combines two or more words together.NamelixA generator for business names.– Test your Idea –Say it out loud.Check how your name sounds and get feedback.Ask your family and friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, the more opinions you get, the better. If you have the resources to be able to test the market, try advertising your company with different names and see what works best.– First Impression –Don’t pick names that suggest unpleasant situations or have negative connotations. At worst, your company could shut down, at best, it’ll give people a good laugh. If you get it wrong the first time, it’s not the end of the world, you can choose to rename your company.Example – This startup was a place for fashionista teenagers to crowdsource fashion advice. The name?Fashism…needless to say, the company shut down in 2013.– Take your Time –The best things come to those who wait.If you really want to have a title that will turn heads, it’s better to spend more time creating the proper name, rather than rebranding the whole company later. However, there are a number of companies that have rebranded, changing their name along the way.If you do feel that your company is in need of a name change, which is an exciting journey in itself, make sure to keep a few things in mind.Is your name no longer relevant? Is it too generic? Are you having copyright issues?Or is it just way too much of a mouthful? If you check at least one of these questions, it’s worth going through the process of finding a new company name.– Availability –It’s always annoying when you think you’ve finally found the one, only to find out that it has already been taken, or even worse, it’s trademarked. There are an unlucky few that didn’t find out their name was trademarked until much later.Example – One famous example would be between the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) and WWF (World Wrestling Federation), now named WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). The two entered into a 13 year long legal battle of the acronym. It’s possible that you could encounter some legal issues when you’re naming your company. In the U.S., you can check the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and the European Union Intellectual Property Office in the EU, to avoid this kind of situation.– Avoid –Geographic names – it’s helpful if you’re limiting your market to the area you’re referring to, but if your looking to expand outside your local areas, avoid it.They limit your market potential, it’s not usually beneficial if you want to expand your business to other areas.Example – Kentucky Fried Chicken is one of the most well-known examples who came across this issue.Instead, they rebranded, abbreviating their name to KFC.Initials and numbers, it may have significance to you, but to a wider audience? In some cases, having a set of initials or numbers can make the company unmemorable, unless these initials and numbers hold significance to lots of people, but the chances of that are very low.Think international, make sure that your company doesn’t make too many embarrassing logo mistakes by choosing names that have already been used, or choosing a name that means something offensive in another language. It’s fairly common.ConclusionAll in all, mental blocks can be a difficult feat to overcome. But to get the best results, go into the naming process with an open slate.Don’t let your wants and need get in the way of creating the name that’s going to make you memorable to investors and customers alike. Head over to my blog to learn more and download my free naming worksheet (pdf) - the process I use to brainstorm names for my clients: https://ebaqdesign.com/blog/brand-name/ Are you tired of searching for the right name? It’s hard to find a good brand name. One thing that will give you a head start on the naming endeavor is an understanding of the types of names that are out there. Hello everyone this is Arek Dvornechuck from Ebaqdesign and today Im going to share with you the different types of names and how to chose one for your brand. Let’s look at some of the famous brands and learn from them. The first type of brand name is name after Founder. 1. Names after Founders Many companies are named after founders. It might be easier to protect that type of name and It satisfies an ego. Naming after founder works extremely well in fashion. A great example is Gucci named after founder Guccio Gucci. Another great example is Tiffany, named after Charles Lewis Tiffany. Founder names are best for luxury & high-end brands. 2. Descriptive names Descriptives names work by telling you exactly what the company does. These names convey the nature of the business. A great example is Facebook. A book of faces. Descriptive names clearly communicate the brand story. Another good example is Groupon. A group of Coupons. They are usually hard to trademark, so you may want to slightly tweak the words. It also makes the Groupon name fall into the next category of the Farbicated names. 3. Fabricated names Because it’s so hard to find new names, companies invent names by changing, adding or removing letters. A great example is Kodak, which is just a made-up name, invebted by the founder who liked the “K” letter. Another good example is Verizon, which was created from he word “horizon” with a small tweak to it. These types of names offer the most creative altitude for a brand. 4. Metaphor names These types of names work by reflecting imagery and meaning back to the brand. A perfect example is Nike, which is a Greek goddess of victory. Metaphor names bring to mind the experience or positioning of a brand. Another good example is Amazon, which is the biggest river in the World. These names are interesting to visualize and make for powerful differentiators. 5. Acronym names Acronyms have been used for brand names since branding beginnings and they are nothing more than a series of unrelated uppercase letters. The most known example is probably IBM, that stands for International Business Machines. Acronyms are just short-hand version of descriptive name. Another good example Is CVS, that stands for Convenience, Value and Service, but who really care about that? It’s just CVS. They’re usually chosen to solve the problem of multi-word long names, however they’re extremely hard to protect. And the last name category on my list is Real Words. 6.Real Words. Real word names are just words taken out of a dictionary that suggest attributes or benefits. A great example is Uber, that means super, excellent, more than just a taxi. Another good example is Sharp, that stands for the company’s first product - an ever sharp mechanical pencil. This type of name works well for a company with big, bold and broad ambitions. As you already know, you can name your brand in a variety of ways. Do you have a preference for a particular type of name? Leave a comment below and hit that like button. Make sure you subscribe to this channel if you want to get notified about my new videos that will help you with the branding of your business. http://ebaqdesign.com Good design is good business.

NameQuest | Naming Company Insight: The term "trademark" is often used interchangeably to identify a trademark or service mark. Because the ownership of a trademark creates value for your organization, it is vitally important that your legal team or trademark attorney be involved in the process. The verbal brand name development generally works within the realm of marketing terms. From a legal perspective, your trademark attorney will scrutinize your names with variations of what I refer to as the naming spectrum.
