Quickstart: Getting Started with Oracle and .NET

08:56
New to Oracle and .NET development? This video gives you everything you need to know to get up and running quickly! We walk you through downloading and installing the needed Oracle software and then connecting in Visual Studio and creating a simple C# application. The video starts at the Oracle .NET Developer Technology Center website at http://otn.oracle.com/dotnet We then download the "ODTwithODAC" package, extract it and run the installer. Note that ODAC version 12 works with Oracle Database versions 10.2 or higher. After installing we connect in Server Explorer and learn about the connection dialog features, including the Filters tab which by default filters out additional schemas you may have privileges on. We connect to the database using the easy to use EZ connect format. Finally we create a simple C# application and connect to the database using ODP.NET Managed driver and a EZ Config connect string. Prerequisites: 1) Visual Studio 2012 or 2013 -- any edition except Express Edition. Visual Studio Community Edition is supported. 2) An Oracle Database to connect to. You will need to know the hostname, port number and service name of the database. During the video we install: Oracle Data Provider for .NET Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio Oracle .NET Samples Oracle .NET Documentation

Connecting SQL Tables and data in Excel spreadsheets

03:08
For more videos on technology, visit http://www.Techytube.com By [email protected] SQL server is a powerful database platform, this means that it can also be complex to understand and work with. However the major users of the data in the database are still a non-technical business user. A key problem that most business users face when it comes to working with SQL Server is the dependency on an IT professional to query and return the data in a CSV format or Excel sheet. With the ability of MS Excel to be able to connect to SQL Server via the ODBC Drivers allows users to work with SQL tables within the familiar Excel User interface. This approach allows users to be productive with SQL Server without having to know Transact SQL. The feature set provided with MS Excel and newer versions of SQL allow business users to do much more than just query the database. These include the ability to query and view data in pivot format for large data sets using power pivot. Perform ad hoc calculations to underlying data and create models that are specific to their business case using the powerful DAX language. Embedding reports in SharePoint services using PowerPivot. Working with Excel is one of the most powerful ways that end users can work with MS SQL Server to deliver results faster and improve productivity.

SqlDataSource - Use to work with SQL Server, OLE DB, ODBC, or Oracle databases ObjectDataSource - Use to work business objects, that manages data AccessDataSource - Use to work with Microsoft Access XmlDataSource - Use to work with XML files LinqDataSource - Enables us to use LINQ, to retrieve and modify data from a data object EntityDataSource - Use to work with Entity Data Model We will discuss about, each of these data source controls in our upcoming videos. To bind data to a data bound control, like gridview there are 2 ways 1. Without using data-source controls 2. Using data-source controls If we are not using data source controls, then we have to write code to 1. Read connection string 2. Create connection object 3. Create SQL Command object 4. Execute the command 5. Retrieve and bind the results to the data-bound control. Code to bind data to a gridview control, without using data-source controls: string cs = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["DBConnectionString"].ConnectionString; using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(cs)) { SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select * from tblProducts", con); con.Open(); GridView1.DataSource = cmd.ExecuteReader(); GridView1.DataBind(); } If we are using data source controls, we don't have to write even a single line of code. All, you have to do is, drag and drop a data-source control on the webform. Configure the data-source control to connect to a data source and retrieve data. Finally associate the data-source control, to a data-bound control using "DataSourceID" property. Points to remember: 1. "ConnectionString" property of the "SqlDataSource" control is used to determine the database it has to connect, to retrieve data 2. "SelectCommand" property specifies the command that needs to be executed. 3. DataSource control is associated, with the gridview control, using "DataSourceID" property of the GridView control. Please Note: All databound controls has DataSourceID property. A few examples of databound controls include 1. DropDownList 2. CheckBoxList 3. Repeater 4. DataList etc...

The view then renders the data. Model can be entities or business objects. In part 7, we have built Employee entity. public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } In this video, we will discuss, retrieving data from a database table tblEmployee using entity framework. In a later video, we will discuss using business objects as our model. Step 1: Install entity framework, if you don't have it installed already on your computer. At the time of this recording the latest version is 5.0.0.0. Using nuget package manager, is the easiest way to install. A reference to EntityFramework.dll is automatically added. Open visual studio - Tools - Library Package Manager - Manage NuGet Packages for Solution Step 2: Add EmployeeContext.cs class file to the Models folder. Add the following "using" declaration. using System.Data.Entity; Copy & paste the following code in EmployeeContext.cs public class EmployeeContext : DbContext { // Replace square brackets, with angular brackets public DbSet[Employee] Employees {get; set;} } EmployeeContext class derives from DbContext class, and is responsible for establishing a connection to the database. So the next step, is to include connection string in web.config file. Step 3: Add a connection string, to the web.config file, in the root directory. Step 4: Map "Employee" model class to the database table, tblEmployee using "Table" attribute as shown below. [Table("tblEmployee")] public class Employee { public int EmployeeId { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } } Note: "Table" attribute is present in "System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations.Schema" namespace. Step 5: Make the changes to "Details()" action method in "EmployeeController" as shown below. public ActionResult Details(int id) { EmployeeContext employeeContext = new EmployeeContext(); Employee employee = employeeContext.Employees.Single(x =] x.EmployeeId == id); return View(employee); } Step 6: Finally, copy and paste the following code in Application_Start() function, in Global.asax file. Database class is present "in System.Data.Entity" namespace. Existing databases do not need, database initializer so it can be turned off. Database.SetInitializer[MVCDemo.Models.EmployeeContext](null); That's it, run the application and notice that the relevant employee details are displayed as expected.

download mysql-connector.jar file https://goo.gl/ftjWmK if this video really helped you then you can help me out by Donatation me on PayPal paypal.me/Tarique1 For connecting java application with the mysql database, you need to follow 5 steps to perform database connectivity. In this example we are using MySql as the database. So we need to know following informations for the mysql database: Driver class: The driver class for the mysql database is com.mysql.jdbc.Driver. Connection URL: The connection URL for the mysql database is jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test where jdbc is the API, mysql is the database, localhost is the server name on which mysql is running, we may also use IP address, 3306 is the port number and test is the database name. We may use any database, in such case, you need to replace the test with your database name. Username: The default username for the mysql database is root. Password: The default password for the mysql database is ""(blank).Password is given by the user at the time of installing the mysql database. In this example, we are going to use "" as the password. Let's first create a table in the mysql database, but before creating table, we need to create database first. create database test; use test; create table tblogin(UserName varchar(10),Password varchar(40)); ----------------------------------- The above example will fetch all the records of tblogin table. To connect java application with the mysql database mysqlconnector.jar file is required to be loaded. download the jar file mysql-connector.jar Two ways to load the jar file: paste the mysqlconnector.jar file in jre/lib/ext folder set classpath 1) paste the mysqlconnector.jar file in JRE/lib/ext folder: Download the mysqlconnector.jar file. Go to jre/lib/ext folder and paste the jar file here. 2) set classpath: There are two ways to set the classpath: temporary permanent How to set the temporary classpath open command prompt and write: C: set classpath=c:\folder\mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar;.; How to set the permanent classpath Go to environment variable then click on new tab. In variable name write classpath and in variable value paste the path to the mysqlconnector.jar file by appending mysqlconnector.jar;.; as C:\folder\mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar;.; -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Employee Leave Management System Using PHP With Source Code" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFWFtg-SyUo -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

MS Report with Oracle

48:50
In Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services, you can build and deploy a report that uses data from an Oracle data source. This article describes how to configure and access an Oracle data source for a report that you develop and deploy by using Reporting Services. When you develop a report by using Report Designer and that report requires an Oracle data source, you must either create a report-specific Oracle data source or create a shared Oracle data source to retrieve the report data. Additionally, you can configure a report-specific data source for a new report or a shared Oracle data source on an existing report. To configure a report-specific data source for a new report, follow these steps: Start Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Project. Under Project Types, click Business Intelligence Projects. Under Templates, click Report Project. Click OK. In Solution Explorer, right-click the Report folder, and then click Add New Report. In the Report Wizard dialog box, click Oracle in the Type list. Note If you want to use this data source in multiple reports, make this data source a shared data source. To do so, click the Make this a shared data source option. Click Edit. Click the Connection tab, and then enter the Oracle data source details, such as the Oracle server instance name, user name, and password. Click OK. Click Next. In the Query String box, type the required query to obtain the report data, and then click Next. Click Finish. To configure a shared Oracle data source for an existing report, follow these steps: Start Visual Studio .NET 2003. Open the existing project that has the report where you want to add an Oracle data source. In report design view, click the Data tab, and then click New Dataset in the Dataset list. In the Dataset dialog box, click New Data Source in the Data source list. In the Data Link Properties dialog box, click the Provider tab, and then under Select the data you want to connect to, click Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle. Click Next. Click the Connection tab, and then enter the Oracle data source details, such as the Oracle server instance name, user name, and password. Click OK. In the Dataset dialog box, type the required query to obtain the report data in the Query String box, and then click OK. Note If the report query string contains unnamed parameters, such as SELECT * FROM table WHERE column name = ?, you must edit the data source to set the data source type to OLE DB, and then click Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle. If the report query contains named parameters, you can use the Oracle data processing extension instead of the OLE DB data processing extension. The Graphical Query Designer uses OLE DB, and the Generic Query Designer uses the Reporting Services data processing data extension. You can use an Oracle data source in a single report (that is, a report-specific data source), or you can use an Oracle data source as a shared source in several reports. The definition for a report-specific data source is stored in the report itself, whereas the definition for a shared data source is stored in a separate file on the report server. A report can access data from one data source or from many data sources that are report-specific or that are shared.
