In this video, I’m going to show you the secret behind their training that allows them to look amazing and how you can incorporate the same into one simple ab workout to get your core looking incredible as well. It starts with looking at some popular punch throwers, the essence of boxing. Here I showcase Bruce Lee (perhaps one of the hardest punchers of all time), Manny Pacquiao and Rocky Balboa himself, Sylvester Stallone. All three of these guys have awesome looking abs. That said, there is much more to the story than just their abs. Watch as I remove the serratus anterior from the equation and see how drastically different their midsections look when I do. This is because the serratus is one of the most critical muscles to the overall look and development of the core. The best part about it? It is very easy to engage when you know how to do it properly. I show you the best way to do it and give you five exercises that you can put into one ab workout that will hit your rectus abdominus, obliques and serratus all in one shot. The activation of the serratus allows us to protract our shoulders and get our shoulder blades to not just wrap around our torso but to stay closely intact with the ribcage when doing so. Many people that suffer from scapular winging have a weakness in the serratus anterior that is preventing them from stabilizing the shoulder blade with forward arm movement. The muscle also helps in elevation of the arm overhead. In order to do this you need to have upward rotation of the scapula. This is once again where the serratus comes in to help other muscles in the process of doing this without a hitch. We can hit this muscle very well if we figure out ways to protract the arm against resistance and of course include a heavy dose of ab work by picking the right exercises that allow us to light them up as well. The first of these exercises is called the plank up. Instead of just passively resting on our forearms on the floor you want to actively press your forearms down to lift your body up and back. This will protract your shoulder blades and instantly activate your serratus. The plank position itself of course will fire up the abs. Next we have the serratus anterior rollouts. If you have been watching this channel for any length of time you know that I love the ab wheel as an ab training device. Many people use it incorrectly however. You want to be sure that you are protracting your shoulder blades first and maintaining them throughout the rollout on every rep to get the serratus involved here as well and making it a killer exercise combo. No boxing workout would be complete without a little punching. You can do a resisted serratus punch with the band anchored behind you. Make sure you reach out as far as you can, and then go even further! Keep your feet positioned as I show you in order to narrow your base of support and make the core and abs work harder than ever. The screwdriver core exercise is a great variation on a dip in which you actually will never perform a dip. Instead you’ll lift your pelvis into a posterior pelvic tilt to activate your abs. Push through your hands on every rep to lift your body and round your shoulder blades around your ribcage and you will fire up the serratus anterior yet again. The extra rotation of the pelvis will get the obliques going here as well. Finally, the crunch pulldown is a popular ab exercise that can be easily modified to involve the serratus as well just by altering the position of your body in relation to the rope. Press the rope away from you to turn this one into a killer option to finish out this great abs and core workout. Ever wonder why you can train abs over and over again and still not get the results you're looking for? Check out this video where James Grage reveals some simple secrets for getting 6-pack abs. We'll start out with a basic ab exercise, the crunch. Now,to properly do a crunch, think about bringing your head toward your knees instead of up toward the ceiling). Just make sure you don’t pull on your neck or head. As you can see here, this now gets a nice curvature in the lower spine and brings point A and B closer together. You should now feel a greater contraction throughout your entire abdominal region. Once you've mastered proper technique you can then add resistance into the exercise. High reps don't build your abs or burn belly fat - you build your abs the same way you would build any other body part - with resistance. Now, the hanging leg raise is actually an effective exercise when done correctly. To do it properly we need to get that pelvis tilted up. Instead of finishing in the top position, we're going to use that as our starting point. From there we’re going to do a reverse crunch. Don't think about bringing your knees up toward the ceiling but instead bringing them toward your head - just like we did with the crunch but in reverse. You can see here that we're now getting good curvature in the spine, and bringing points A and B closer together, for maximum muscle contraction. Make sure you don't use momentum and swing. Start with a slow and controlled movement and then squeeze at the top before coming back to the starting position. That squeeze is the most important part, so don't rush it. So now that you know what the function of your abdominals is you can apply this same discipline to any ab exercise. If it doesn't meet this criteria of "shortening the distance between A and B" then it's not the best bang for your buck when it comes to building your abs. You will be left looking for your answer (along with unicorns and leprechauns) and without a 6 pack. If you click from video to video hoping to find someone that is going to give you the magic formula for abs, and feel disappointed when you get the truth instead, then this is the video you might need to watch a few times. Here, I discuss the hard truth about getting abs. It all starts with the right mentality. If you think that your dream six pack is waiting for you inside a bottle, then you need to get your head out of that bottle and back in reality. There is nothing you are going to do that doesn’t require a dedication to good, solid nutrition and hard training that is going to give you the results you want (not legally anyway). If you want to get abs you will first and foremost have to start with a sound nutrition plan. Notice, I didn’t say a restrictive eating plan. No, you don’t have to narrow down your food choices to peas and carrots in order to get ripped abs. You can choose from thousands of healthy meal options (many of which you wouldn’t even feel as if they were bland or typical healthy food) and still get abs. You can’t keep trying to find the elusive answer to why you fail though. People often like to make the things they follow feel difficult so when they fail, they have an easier time explaining whey they did. If the answer were simple, and you still failed, you would feel like more of a failure for not accomplishing your goals. Well, when it comes to getting abs, you have to set your priorities on that goal. You can’t mix your priorities and think that devoting as much time and attention to your love of alcohol and hostess cupcakes to that of your training and think that you’re going to look the way you want to. Nope. If you want to get 6 pack abs, you have to commit to a routine of healthy eating, dedication to training and a suffocation of your desire to keep looking for the easy way around it. This type of shortcut doesn’t exist. If you want to get ripped athletic abs, and do so by putting the truth back in training, then you will want to start training hard and eating right like an athlete. Diet is going to be 60 to 70 percent of your outcome. So, what that means is you can't out-train a bad diet. If you're training every day, but you're not eating well, the results will not show the way you want them to. So, what that means is you gotta base your meals around protein and good fat. Your carbohydrates, you don't have to cut them out, but you do have to limit them, and you do have to make the right choices when it comes to your carbs. So what that means is whole grain oats, steel cut oatmeal, brown rice, keenwa. All those things are great, sweet potatoes, especially post workout. But you do wanna focus on your protein and your good fats being the basis and the meat and potatoes of your diet. Second, obviously you have to train. So, consistency is key, guys. You can't just be working out one day a week and expect to see results, okay? You're gonna get what you put in, so you need to be working out at least four to five days a week, and you need to be consistent meaning it takes you eight weeks to start feeling a change in your body. It takes everyone else twelve weeks to start noticing it. Be patient. Stay consistent. The results will come. So, specifics in terms of your workout, what do I mean? Minimal, two to three days a week of strength training. Okay? Intervals, for cardio, guys stop reading Us Weekly on the recumbent bike, okay? You're not doing anything for yourself. Get off. Jump on a treadmill. Go hard for one minute. Rest for one minute. Okay. Instead of your active rest of not doing anything whether it be jogging very slowly or walking on a treadmill, get on the floor. Do a plank. Okay, this is an effective way to really get the abs you're looking for: to mix the cardio, the intervals, with your specific ab exercises. It's a great way to get your heart rate up, burn calories, get that boost of metabolism, and get those washboard abs you're looking for. Another thing, water. You should be drinking at least three liters of water a day. It varies depending on your weight and your height, but three liters is really standard. Make sure you're drinking a lot of water. Last, but not least, completely underrated, you need to be getting sleep. You need to be resting at least six to seven hours minimal. I don't say eight anymore. Eight just is not reasonable. It's not real realistic for, especially for us New Yorkers. Eight hours is just not realistic anymore. So I say six to seven hours of sleep. You need sleep. People that don't sleep enough will overeat by 300 calories a day, okay? So make sure you're getting enough rest as well. Recovery is key.

As you all know that abs is the main reason behind most of the people starting the gym. Everyone wants six packs or at least four packs. But I do not think most people are aware about the main thing that is going to take them to their end goal of having visible abs. There are a lot of people who are taking advantage of this craze of everyone about getting abs by providing them wrong information and selling them some shitty supplements which are never going to help anyone to get packs. I thought I should make a video about this and should clear everything to everyone so that one no one can exploit you. The theory behind getting abs is very simple but some fitness athletes or supplement companies have portrayed it as a very difficult and confusing thing so that they can earn money from you guys. They are selling tons of shitty abs workout routines (I just hate them!) and most of you are buying them or are making them famous on YouTube or other social platforms. Supplement companies sell crappy supplements like fat burner and hell a lot of other shit and they hire your famous fitness athletes to endorse their supplements so that you could believe that the shit they are selling works. BUT!! There are very few people that will tell you the truth and these types of people do exist but they are not much famous because they do not sell magic pills that most of you want and I am here to do the same thing that they do. I do not care about getting famous but what I care about is taking you away from all the bull shit information and provide you guys with the required knowledge that you need to know and believe me, there is very little that you need to know. Remaining is all that you should not even care about. So, without any further delay .Let I tell you that main thing. WHAT TO DO TO GET ABS? Do not be excited, I am not going to recommend you any 6 packs or 8 packs workout routine nor I am going to suggest you to start using any fat burner because all that does not work without the main factor that I am going to discuss. So what do we have to do then? It is very simple. Stop doing crunches for hours every day and start focusing on your diet. Calculate your maintenance and create a caloric deficit to get rid of the fat that you are carrying. With time, your body fat will decrease and once you will reach low levels of body fat (around 10%) then you will start seeing your most awaited abs. As simple as that. THIS IS THE UNIVERSAL TRUTH! Anyone telling you something else is making you fool. To get abs, you will have to try to lose overall body. There is nothing like spot reduction. So, there is no chance that crunches are going to help you to get rid of that stomach fat. There is not anything like this. Create a deficit and focus on getting leaner. No one knows, from where they are going to lose fat first. If you would be lucky (very few are) then you will lose stomach fat first and will start seeing your abs much early. Most of the people will see their abs when they will reach around 10% body fat. But there are some people who will still not see their abs like if your abs genetic sucks .Though, I have seen some people with very less muscle mass but well developed abs. It’s all genetics. You just can’t beat genetics.
