CSS Tutorial For Beginners 27 - Font Size

08:00
Hey my good friends, in this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to dive head-first into the font-size property. The font-size property in CSS, believe it or not, controls how large the font displays in a browser. We can control font size either via absolute or relative measurements, and we'll cover both types in this video. Absolute font sizes are immutable (unless overridden later in the CSS), whereas relative font sizes are determined largely by the base font size they inherit. For my video on CSS inheritance, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMpaebQ3n6A&index=11&list=PL4cUxeGkcC9gQeDH6xYhmO-db2mhoTSrT Anyway, peace out, keep coding & have fun :). How to Change the Font Size in WordPress (3 Different Options)

03:39
Are you wanting to change the font size on your WordPress posts and pages? Not all themes have a simple built-in method for changing the size of text but we have taught many people the way to change this. In this video, we will show you how to change the font size in WordPress. The simplest step would be to use the header tags which are styled by the theme you are using. By highlighting specific text, clicking the dropdown, and selecting the style you want your theme will customize it to be that specified font size. Every theme is unique so depending on the theme would determine how the text will look. A second method would be to install and activate the TinyMCE advanced plugin found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/ Once you activate the plugin go under Settings, TinyMCE Advanced to customize the editor's settings. You will see the TinyMCE Editor and be able to add or remove extra buttons but for this, we want the font family and font size added to the editor. This will allow you to choose how large the text should be as well as how it should be styled. The third method requires a little knowledge of CSS as we will be walking through how to manually edit the code for your site for your font size. You will go under Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS to get to the built-in editor. Target what you want to add a change to, for paragraphs, it's normally p. If you do not know what to target you can find out using inspect element, we have an article on how to use inspect element below: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/basics-of-inspect-element-with-your-wordpress-site/ Text version of this tutorial http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-wordpress If you liked this video, then please Like and consider subscribing to our channel for more WordPress videos. Change WordPress Font-Size Using Theme Options or CSS | WP Learning Lab

07:18
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL Download your exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist Change WordPress Font-Size Using Theme Options or CSS | WP Learning Lab Changing WordPress Font-size is done in the theme options panel or with CSS. Once you know where to make the changes in your theme it is easy to do. As with a lot of things in Wordpress, where you do things depends on the theme you're using and the plugins you're running. First, always check to see if your theme has theme options. If it does then you should be able to find a typography tab to edit font sizes. Sometimes font sizes will be found in the general settings of the theme options. The theme options will be found either under the Appearance menu in the left hand side admin menu or there will be special menu item that the them itself added. If your theme doesn't have theme options, then you're next stop should be the customizer. Some themes have a lot of WordPress Customizer support. Go to Appearance then Customizer to see if you can edit font sizes there. If both of those are a no-go then you're left with going to directly to the stylesheet to change font sizes. This is method is great if you have some CSS knowledge. To find your stylesheet go to Appearance then Editor. The stylesheet will be the first thing to appear in the editor. If, for some reason, it's not there, then find the style.css file in the list of theme files on the right and click it to open it in the editor. NOTE: You should be edit stylesheet of a child theme only. If you edit the parent theme stylesheet directly then your edits could be overwritten when you update the them. Here's a tutorial on how to create a child theme if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8n1h-85SMQ Now that you have the CSS stylesheet open in the editor you will need to find the font styles. The easiest way to do this is go to your main site and find the fonts that you want to edit. If you're using Google Chrome or Firefox right click on the text and choose the "inspector" or "inspect" from the context menu. If you're not using Google Chrome or Firefox then start using them. In the inspector that opens at the bottom of the page you should see the text highlighted in the main area and the class of the element on the right. You can type styles right into the element on the right hand side to quickly test to see how big you want the font to be. This doesn't save it permanently. What you see is only in your browser and as soon as you refresh the page you'll lose it. So, find the class for the text, find the right size and move that CSS rule in to the stylesheet for the child theme. Sometimes you'll have to fight with the existing CSS to make your font changes take effect. That's where a command link !important comes in very handy. If you type .h2 {font-size:10px !important;}. Having !important forces that style to take precedent over all others. It's a lazy way to code CSS, but unless you have time to find the conflicting styles, it's a fast and easy trick. WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire website

WordPress: how to change the font (size / type / color) on your entire site Full article: http://imstartpage.com/change-font-wordpress-font-type-size-color Find or convert hex colors: http://imstartpage.com/color-code-conversion-tool-rgb-hex-cmyk Follow me on other media: ►Website: http://www.guidoshowtos.com ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/guidoshowtos ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/guidoshowtos ►Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Guidoshowtos Full instructions: The method I'm going to show, will change the default font on your entire website. The default font on your site is specified by a file called a 'stylesheet'. The stylesheet is part of your current WordPress theme. So; to change your font, you'll have to edit your stylesheet. To find out exactly what to edit, you can use a feature in Google Chrome; right-click the font you want to change, and then click 'inspect element'. On the right side of the menu, you'll see exactly what parts of the stylesheet are being used to make your site look the way it looks. Here, scroll down until you find something that says 'font'. OK, this is the part that specifies what fonts are being used on your site. You can have a look at the entire stylesheet by clicking this link. To change the font in WordPress, we need to find this part of the stylesheet in the back-end of WordPress. Because your stylesheet contains hundreds of lines of code, an easy way to find it is to use Google Chrome's search feature. So, I'm going to copy this part of the code, and add it in the search bar later. To edit your stylesheet, go to your dashboard, then click 'Appearance', and then 'Editor'. By default, it'll open the stylesheet, so that's style.css. Now press Ctrl+F to bring up the search bar, a and paste the text you copied earlier. This will bring you to the exact code you need to edit. For 'Font size', change the number to make your font smaller or larger. To change the font type, edit the name of the font, for 'font-family'. The first one in the line is the one that's going to be used. For 'color', enter the color you want to use. These are specified in the hexadecimal format (hex). When you're done making changes, scroll down and click 'Update file'. And that's it! Go back to your site, and refresh the page to see the changes take effect. And it works; your site is now using a larger font, another font type, and another font color. --- Dutch article: http://websiteopzetten.com/lettertype-font-veranderen-wordpress-type-grootte-kleur/ Also read: http://websiteopzetten.com/webhosting/

Class 03 || Changing font type, color, background and size || Learn CSS Tutorial || Tamil || JA Tech Program File:- https://goo.gl/FEB6gu This document contains instructions on how to change a font and its color on a web page. The proper syntax moving forward is to use Cascading Style Sheets along with the class or ID selectors rather than an inline style attribute or font tag, which are deprecated. Although, it is worth noting that these two methods still work with most Internet browsers. To proceed, select the method you would like to learn from or read every section. Using CSS for a single application Using CSS for one or more pages The Font tag Using CSS for a single application If you plan on changing the font face and its color only once on a web page, you need to change its attributes within the element tag. Using the style attribute, you may specify the font face and color with font-family, color, and the font size with font-size, as shown in the example below. Using CSS for one or more pages Custom font for one page In the head portion of your web page, you may insert code between the style /style tabs to change the appearance of your text in various elements. The next blue box contains example code that, once called, would change your font face to Courier and color it red. As you can see, we have defined the class name as "custom." Once defined, this styling can be applied to most elements in your page by attaching the class "custom" to them. The following box shows two lines of code and their respective results. Custom font for many pages Importing an external CSS file can be very beneficial in that it allows users to change rules for multiple pages at the same time. The following section shows an example for creating a basic CSS file that changes the font and it's color for most elements. This file may be loaded into more than one web page, even an entire site. Using any basic text editor, saving the following text as a .css file will prepare it for import. Once the preceding text has been placed into a .css file (we have named ours basic.css), you can link to it from any other page using a line similar to the following example. Font tag solution Although deprecated, the HTML font tag can still be used and may be necessary to be used with some online services. When using the FONT tag, you must include the face attribute, which describes the font to be used. In the example below, we are using the Courier font and the hexadecimal color code #005CB9, which is a dark blue. CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13)

05:15
CSS Tutorial — EM & REM, Relative Sizes (8/13) We covered absolute units like pixel values, and we covered relative units like percentage. Now let’s talk about another super important relative unit. EM. This is mostly used to size text. Sizing your fonts is absolutely crucial in having a good looking page. It’s one of the most important aspects of UI design. Typography. I mentioned default browser styles a couple of videos ago. Let’s look at H1 in Chrome. H1 has this weird font-size value of 2em. That line is the reason why H1 so big without you writing any CSS. But what is that? EM? EM is another relative unit of measurement, similar to percentage. EM always has a number in front of it. 2em, 3em, .5em. Font-size: 2em means, hey what is my expected font-size if I didn’t have any other CSS? I want my size to be 2 times that. Twice as big. So what is my expected Font-size? Font size is usually inherited from the parent, so say I have a font-size: 12px on the body tag. And I have a direct H1 child inside it with font size: 2em. That will make the H1 size automatically 24px, double its parent. Because it’s 2EM. So it’s almost like the H1 is listening directly to its parent. 3em, 3 times that or 1em, the same size as my parent. You can even do decimal points like .5, half, 50%, .2, 20%. This is useful because you can set font-size of the body to be whatever, and all its children that have their sizing in em will listen to that and resize immediately. This way you don’t have to specify how many pixels for every single child. You define it once on the body, and everybody will resize themselves. Except there’s one problem. EM inherits from the direct parent, not from the body. So in our example we’re lucky the H1 is directly on the body but... if you have children inside children, they’re going to affect each other’s size. Say you have a P tag with A tags inside it. Say body font size is 20px. If my P tag is 2em, that makes it 40px, and my A tag is 3em, that makes the A 3 times as big as the P, so 40x3, 120px. This can get really confusing really fast. I don’t like it. I know a bunch of you are gonna get mad at me cuz you disagree with me, and that’s ok. You can start your own ColorCode on youTube and call it ColorChode and make your own videos and disagree. Anyway, back to EM. In real world applications you have several layers of elements inside one another, so it becomes really difficult trying to find out how big something is if you use relative values and have to keep going up the chain of parents and calculate. What is .7em of 2em of .5em of 14 pixels? That’s cray cray. Lucky for us, there is a solution. And it’s a solution that I personally like a lot, it’s not perfect but it covers 99% of what I want. And that is REM. Root EM, whatever EM stands for. I probably should have googled that. HAHA Actually I did, And I didn’t find a satisfactory answer. Anyway, REM is the exact same thing as EM except it’s not relative to the inherited font size from the parent, it’s relative to the root element, your beloved HTML tag. Remember that guy? This means you can give your HTML element a size. Say 14px. And any element inside your page, anywhere, regardless of who their parent is, given an REM font size, will then resize relative to 14px. This is in my opinion the cleanest way to specify font size, have it be easy to read, and still flexible like EM. So,... I think it’s time for a demo. I just gave you aloooot of information. Let’s go back to our profile page and clean up them sizes using both absolute and relative units. I’ll see you there.
