How to Write a Survey or Questionnaire
Watch more Business Communication videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/383549-How-to-Write-a-Survey-or-Questionnaire To write a survey or questionnaire, you want to cover every possibility and avoid being misunderstood. Make sure you know what information you're after and make it easy for your subjects to help you find it. Step 1: Prepare information Prepare by defining the issues you are exploring and the objectives for the questionnaire. Clarify specifically what you want answered, eliminating generalizations, so that you can draw reliable data. Step 2: Design questions Design succinct and unambiguous questions with familiar words, and no abbreviations or double negatives. Be specific about timing, for instance, by stipulating "Every three hours" instead of "Often." Tip Open-format questions invite free-wheeling responses that tend to be subjective. Closed-format questions, like multiple choice, are easier to tabulate and track for useful information. Step 3: Separate questions Separate questions rather than making them dependent on previous or subsequent questions. Dependent questions can confuse, alienate, and add a level of uncertainty in your findings. Step 4: Do not lead Avoid writing a survey or questionnaire that uses leading questions that, intentionally or not, preserve the likelihood of a certain result. Offer clearly distinct choices. Step 5: Encompass responses Ask questions that anticipate and encompass all possible responses. Tip Expanding multiple choice surveys beyond four or five will dilute the results. Step 6: Organize Group the questions logically. Make them simple, direct, and unthreatening. If someone suspects an agenda, they will not answer truthfully. Step 7: Test survey Test your questionnaire or survey on a small but similar group before starting the official study. Get feedback about how questions were interpreted and suggestions on how to fix problems. Revise the survey based on your results, and you will be on your way to creating a clear study. Did You Know? Gallup found a 12 percent increase in voters who call themselves Independents between elections in 2007, when their numbers rose to 37 percent of the voting public, more than either Democrats or Republicans.

Alabama Public Land Survey Data Management and Retrieval System
This is an Application demonstration of Troy University's Web-based GIS system created for 2012 NSPS student competition. Surveying Applications in Geographic Information Systems was the selected topic for the 2012 NSPS student competition. Troy University team members welcomed the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in this important area of Geomatics sciences. The student team members chose to develop a system to provide for a Web-based Data Management and Retrieval system for Public Land Survey corner locations in the state of Alabama. A project plan was developed so the team could stay focused, engaged, and excited about the project. A GIS database was created on a local server to support a web application. The group then added functionality and refined the system. The final product is a Web-based GIS to aid Alabama surveyors in the location of section corners and control points. The functionality of the application allows users to view, analyze, manipulate and evaluate survey data. This application is capable of inputting and storing various types of survey data, including parcel information and control monuments. The Web GIS was developed and implemented in hopes of one day being adopted by the state of Alabama.

Laser Scanning & BIM or Scan-to-BIM
Lead-8, Engineering Surveys & InteliBuild video on the benefits of laser scanning, point clouds & BIM. How owners, developers and architects can use scan-to-BIM for design visualisation, area measurements, facility management & more. At Lead-8, we are always looking at how we can use technology to enhance our work flow. We invited InteliBuild, with the assistance of Engineering Surveys, to scan our studios as a demonstration to understand the potential of 3d laser scanning. The device basically shoots a laser at the target and then captures the data in return. It scans a vertical line and it then pivots a small degree, then scans the next vertical line and continues around. So it does a 270 degree scan and picks up a 360 degree space. When the instrument is setup, everything it can see, it records. It will pick up the surface of an aluminum frame, a plastered wall, it will pick up the details of a door knob or switch. So every object it can see, it can survey. The scanner picks up millions and millions of points and the points are registered, so we can register the points to a survey grid. We can use the raw data, the x,y,z co-ordinates to build 3D geometric models or we can use the image captured model to do visualisations, walk-throughs and understand the actual overall picture of the site. When we do the post-processing, we convert those x,y,z’s to true world co-ordinates. We can tell you where the point is in the real world and we can look at those point clouds in a 3D environment. We can review the model. We can spin it around. We can zoom into an area. Then we can use that information to build design models, BIM, building information models, that we can use for floor plan drawings, elevation drawings. We can cut sections thru the point cloud. We can generate traditional documents very quickly. We know the drawings are true representations of the actual space. Then from a design perspective, we can design a new system inside that point cloud. We can put a new ceiling into a space. Maybe it's a retail space, we can put in a new shop front in, so we can see what they look like in that space. It is handy for visualisation and understanding design concepts. When we do the laser scan, we are getting all the information we may need throughout the life of the job. On a project, we might be doing a new build or might be doing a refit. If we are doing a refit, we will scan an existing building, so we had a record of what we are keeping and an accurate survey. Then we could figure out, if we will demolish these rooms then we can refit them this way. So, then we knew the new systems would fit inside the old systems We can get very detailed accurate surveys during the construction phase, which the contractors like, because it does not slow down their progress. All the data can then be used for measurement, for building models, for calculating floor areas, for calculating heights. There are many many uses for the actual point cloud information. We may be surveying steelwork because we have to attach a cladding system to it, or a railing system to it. So we capture the survey information and then, a couple of weeks later, somebody says, “well actually we need a measurement for the internal systems, for wall system.” We don't have to go back to site and survey again, we've already got all the points. So we can basically go back and re-measure the scan for that. It is essentially a very powerful survey tool. But you may want to use the data for something else, you may want to use it for facility management. So you've got your building and you don't have a BIM system. You could actually survey the facility, capture all the information in 3D and it is still a good foundation for facility management. For the developers, I think the biggest benefit of this is, basically, surveying existing spaces. In a couple of hours, we can create a survey of an existing facility, which is an exact representation of what's there. We can measure the floor areas for the developer. We can calculate how much space they've got. They can use that then for negotiating leases, etc etc So it's a very powerful tool just to get an as-built condition of a space that a client already owns or that an investor is planning to purchase or invest in. I think people are starting to realise, that they're asking for the scan for one reason, then they are uncovering, that we can actually make use of it for two or three other purposes. So it is getting re-purposed as well. That's where it gets very interesting.

marketing research for beginners, understanding marketing research fundamentals
marketing research for beginners, understanding marketing research fundamentals. Definition: The process of gathering, analyzing and interpreting information about a market, about a product or service to be offered for sale in that market, and about the past, present and potential customers for the product or service; research into the characteristics, spending habits, location and needs of your business's target market, the industry as a whole, and the particular competitors you face. Market research provides relevant data to help solve marketing challenges that a business will most likely face--an integral part of the business planning process. In fact, strategies such as market segmentation (identifying specific groups within a market) and product differentiation (creating an identity for a product or service that separates it from those of the competitors) are impossible to develop without market research. Market research involves two types of data: Primary information. This is research you compile yourself or hire someone to gather for you. Secondary information. This type of research is already compiled and organized for you. Examples of secondary information include reports and studies by government agencies, trade associations or other businesses within your industry. Most of the research you gather will most likely be secondary. When conducting primary research, you can gather two basic types of information: exploratory or specific. Exploratory research is open-ended, helps you define a specific problem, and usually involves detailed, unstructured interviews in which lengthy answers are solicited from a small group of respondents. Specific research, on the other hand, is precise in scope and is used to solve a problem that exploratory research has identified. Interviews are structured and formal in approach. Of the two, specific research is the more expensive.

SPSS for questionnaire analysis: Correlation analysis
Basic introduction to correlation - how to interpret correlation coefficient, and how to chose the right type of correlation measure for your situation. 0:00 Introduction to bivariate correlation 2:20 Why does SPSS provide more than one measure for correlation? 3:26 Example 1: Pearson correlation 7:54 Example 2: Spearman (rhp), Kendall's tau-b 15:26 Example 3: correlation matrix I could make this video real quick and just show you Pearson's correlation coefficient, which is commonly taught in a introductory stats course. However, the Pearson's correlation IS NOT always applicable as it depends on whether your data satisfies certain conditions. So to do correlation analysis, it's better I bring together all the types of measures of correlation given in SPSS in one presentation. Watch correlation and regression: https://youtu.be/tDxeR6JT6nM ------------------------- Correlation of 2 rodinal variables, non monotonic This question has been asked a few times, so I will make a video on it. But to answer your question, monotonic means in one direction. I suggest you plot the 2 variables and you'll see whether or not there is a monotonic relationship there. If there is a little non-monotonic relationship then Spearman is still fine. Remember we are measuring the TENDENCY for the 2 variables to move up-up/down-down/up-down together. If you have strong non-monotonic shape in the plot ie. a curve then you could abandon correlation and do a chi-square test of association - this is the "correlation" for qualitative variables. And since your 2 variables are ordinal, they are qualitative. Good luck

This is How Hackers Crack Passwords!
In this video, we'll see how hackers really crack passwords. This video is edited with Filmora video editor, get it here : https://goo.gl/RtmNC5 DISCLAIMER : This video is intended only to educate people about how hackers crack passwords, and how important the strength of the password is, when coming to security. If you are using a common password like test123456 which I used in the video, then the hacker will easily be able to know the plain text form of your password from the hash string. There is something known as Rainbow tables. These rainbow tables contain the password hashes of numerous commonly used passwords. So the hacker will be to do a simple search with the password hash that he has, and if the password hash exists in the rainbow table, then that means the password is successfully cracked, and we have the password in a plain text. Remember that rainbow tables contain the password hashes of only the passwords which are commonly used. As a reference, you can go to https://crackstation.net/ If the password is not a commonly used password, then there comes dictionary attack and brute force attack. In dictionary attack, you have a wordlist. A wordlist is nothing but a huge text file with loads of passwords. In this attack, the hacker writes a code which compares the password hash to be cracked, with the password hash of each and every password that exists in the wordlist. Now, this attack can be target-specific as well. which means we can build a wordlist targeting an individual provided that we know some basic details about him/her. In a brute force attack, each and every combination of letters ,symbols and numbers are converted into their hash forms, and are then compared with the hash to be cracked. This is a more expensive. A new technique called salting is introduced by security analysts to give hackers a hard time in cracking passwords. In this technique, a specific combination of characters are inserted at specific positions of the plain text password before hashing. Every company has its own salting algorithm, and they don’t make their salting algorithm public For example, kets say Facebook salting algorithm inserts the string f&2p at the beginning, after the third character, and at the end of the plain text password. After salting the password, the salted password is then hashed by a hashing algorithm. So when salting is used, rainbow tables are of no use even if the password to be cracked is a weak commonly used password. Because the hashe of the password without salting do not match the hash of the password which is salted Also, brute force and dictionary attack are not effective to crack salted passwords unless the hacker already knows the salting algorithm employed by a company. Secret to Having Customers Complete Your Survey
Go to http://www.TheCustomerFocus.com or call 314-692-2200 to learn more about Shep Hyken or to learn about customer service training. There is a place I get my car worked on. They do a great job. The repair center’s employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The car always comes back cleaner than when it goes in for service. This is the way business should be done. The head of the service department mentioned I would be getting a survey emailed to me and asked if I would take a few minutes to complete it. Sure enough, a day later the email survey showed up in my inbox. I will always remember the first survey. With that great experience, I was happy to show them a little love and give them positive feedback about how well they took care of me. So, I started the survey. There were some pretty good questions on that first page. And, more on the second page. By the time I got to the third page of the survey, I was experiencing Survey Fatigue. I was tired with this survey. I was already almost six or seven minutes into it, and it looked like I wasn’t even halfway to the end. This wasn’t a survey. It was a major homework assignment! About a year later, it was time to go back for another oil change and routine maintenance. Once again, they provided stellar customer service. And, then a day later came that dreaded customer service survey – the same survey! I would have thought that maybe it might be different for a repeat customer. I told my friends about the ridiculously long survey and joked that it took longer to fill out the darn survey than to get the oil changed. By the way, I didn’t fill the survey out – and haven’t since the first one I filled out years ago. What made me think about that story was that in the past few weeks several subscribers to our newsletter emailed me about how to get more responses to their customer surveys. That’s a great question, and here are two of my favorite ways to do so: First, don’t wait two weeks – or even two days – to send a survey. Consider getting the survey to customers within 24 hours while the experience is still fresh on their minds. Maybe even get it to them within just minutes. When I take an Uber, as soon as the ride is over I receive an email asking me to rate the driver and leave a tip, if appropriate. I respond every time. Second, don’t make the survey too long. You don’t want to frustrate the customer with Survey Fatigue. Consider short surveys that take one or two minutes to complete. A short NPS (Net Promotor Score) survey question with one or two follow-up questions that take a minute or so to complete will boost response numbers. If you want answers to more questions, create different surveys and rotate them as you send them to customers. Shorter is better. That same Uber survey just mentioned asks me to click on one through five stars, click on a few boxes, and if interested, I can leave a comment. Without the comment, the survey takes 15 seconds or less. So, the next time you want customer feedback in the form of a survey, send it quickly and make it short. Then, watch for an increase in the number of customers who respond. In this video Shep will answer the following: How do I create a better customer survey? How to create surveys your customers will take. How to get customers to complete your survey. How can I gain better customer feedback? Programmable Energy Meter for Electrical Load Survey
You can purchase this project kit from this given link. http://www.electrosal.com/product/programmable-energy-meter-for-electrical-load-survey/ Drop a mail at [email protected] Call/whatsapp (+91)8880027297 The main objective of this project is to calculate the electrical energy required by a load through push-button switches by entering the unit cost relation as per the energy tarrif. With this system, one can avoid hours of waiting for a load survey assistant. The energy audit involves survey and analysis of energy consumption of electrical loads in either domestic sector or industrial environment. Nowadays the unit cost of electricity is very high, and therefore,it necessitatesone to know whether the energy of a particular load, or instrument is efficient or not.The proposed system is used to examine the energy of electrical loads. The proposed system usesan 8051 family of microcontroller and a rectified power supply. Here, four push-button switches are interfaced to the microcontroller for providing the energy tariff information. A 16*2 LCD display is connected to the microcontroller for displaying the information. This system is connected to the energy meter with aload through Opto-coupler IC. The microcontroller reads the pulses from the energy meter for finding the energy consumption of the electrical loads. When a user gives the unit price and prescribed time of the load through a push-button switch to the microcontroller, then it calculates according to the program and displays the relevant energy consumed and cost information on theLCD display. The project in future can be implemented by using a GSM modem by interfacing it to the device for remote monitoring of the data over GSM network via SMS. Even load control can also be achieved through SMS.

CASO Survey Processing: The Customer Satisfaction Survey Challenge
There are several different types of customer surveys that an organization could administer. There are customer satisfaction surveys, product positioning surveys, and product development surveys: * Customer satisfaction surveys are extremely important to getting the pulse of a company’s customers and finding out what they are happy or unhappy with. When an organization does customer satisfaction surveys on a regular basis, they should be able to see where there’s movement—good or bad—and that movement will allow them to focus quickly on a particular area to find out what’s going on. * Product development surveys help companies to identify the products and services their customers want from them and could be buying from somebody else. * Product positioning surveys give invaluable information to organizations’ marketing departments about how to market to their customers. They help companies identify how their customers want to consume information. CASO can assist in administering customer surveys for organizations doing customer satisfaction, product development, or product positioning surveys. We understand our customers’ clientele and how they would like to communicate information. Whether we are going to administer an online survey, a paper-based survey, or maybe a survey conducted through small increments via text messaging, we simply gather information succinctly and provide it back to our customers in an easy-to-read format.
Male Evening Grosbeaks Survey Ontario Feeders – Jan 4, 2017
Three flashy male Evening Grosbeaks stopped by the Ontario FeederWatch cam this morning to sample the seeds on the feeder platform during subzero temperatures in Manitouwadge, ON. Listen closely for the crunch of sunflower seed shells and the sweet, piercing notes and burry chirps of these heavyset finches. Watch online with highlight clips and information about the birds at http://allaboutbirds.org/feederwatchcam Thanks to Perky-Pet for helping to make the Ontario FeederWatch Cam possible! The FeederWatch cam is located in a residential neighborhood in Manitouwadge, Ontario. This northern site is an excellent location to see winter finches like redpolls and grosbeaks as well as two species of Jays and even Ruffed Grouse! The feeders sit in the middle of a large backyard with a large birch tree that the birds love, as well as a mixed stand of conifers and several fruit and berry producing shrubs. There’s a small swamp just beyond the backyard as well as larger stands of woods and a small lake. The feeder system is the product of the camera hosts’ ingenuity, making use of plastic piping to support the feeders high enough above ground to foil the occasional squirrel, and a rotating set of feeders that provide black oil sunflower seeds, nyjer seed, whole and shelled peanuts, and peanut butter suet in a homemade hanging log to the dozens of species that visit. About the Hosts Tammie and Ben Hache have been members of Project FeederWatch since 2002, meticulously counting their backyard birds to help better understand what birds are doing throughout the winter. The years of FeederWatching have brought amazing views to the Haches; some of the highlights included counts with over 200 Evening Grosbeaks seen at once, high counts of 20+ Hoary Redpolls, an extremely out-of-range White-winged Dove, and the constant buzzing of hummingbirds in the summer. A winter of bird feeding requires a lot of food, too—last year over 750 lb of sunflower seeds were consumed by the hungry birds! About Project FeederWatch Project FeederWatch is a winter-long survey of birds that visit feeders at backyards, nature centers, community areas, and other locales in North America. FeederWatchers periodically count the birds they see at their feeders from November through early April and send their counts to Project FeederWatch. FeederWatch data help scientists track broadscale movements of winter bird populations and long-term trends in bird distribution and abundance. Anyone with an interest in birds can participate in Project FeederWatch! There are people of all skill levels and backgrounds conducting FeederWatch counts, including children, families, individuals, classrooms, retired persons, youth groups, nature centers, and bird clubs. ADT Survey App - Explainer Video
Evolving Business Protection. ADT, a leading Fire and Security company, were seeking ways to enable their sales force to undertake more efficient on-site surveys, and to provide instant customer quotations for their range of Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Fire Alarms, and Access Control products. Traditionally, sales people would take measurements and details of the customer’s office and provide an estimate on site, with a formal hard copy quotation to follow by post. The process often took days, if not weeks, to complete, by which time the lead had gone cold or been lost to a competitor. Signals proposed automating the existing process with the introduction of a bespoke tablet based sales app. This would reduce the time to quotation and shorten the sales process considerably. The app needed to follow a clearly defined sales process, from mandatory information gathering, integrated room planning, cost calculation, and finally confirmation of the customer order on the spot. Signals worked closely with the client to scope, wireframe, and build a robust iPad app to enable the end to end specification and ordering of ADT products in the field. Each part of the project build was carefully managed to ensure the successful delivery of the app which was to be called “ADT Evolve”. Once a job has been fully specified, a product pricing screen is presented with a breakdown of costs. A quotation system is then used to finalise the order. The customer is then able to legally sign the order on the tablet using integrated DocuSign technology. This data is then automatically pushed into the installation scheduling system, and the order is fulfilled. The ADT Evolve app has a data sync function that updates all product and pricing data, along with any new job data held on the iPad when a network is available. Used by hundreds of ADT engineers, both in the UK and Australia, the ADT Evolve app is has revolutionised the way ADT do business.

Fundamentals of Upstream Oil and Gas
Oil 101 - A FREE Introduction to the Oil and Gas Industry I this first of 10 modules, we introduce the learner to some key fundamentals of the Upstream segment of the oil and gas industry. The full Oil 101 course includes: +Introduction to Upstream +Introduction to Midstream +Introduction to Downstream +Introduction to Exploration +Introduction to Drilling +Introduction to Production +Introduction to Natural Gas +Introduction to Refining +Introduction to Supply and Trading +Introduction to Petroleum Product Marketing Learn More about Oil 101: http://www.ektinteractive.com/ http://www.ektinteractive.com/oil-101/ So, What is Upstream? Most oil and gas companies’ business structures are organized according to business segment, assets, or function. The upstream segment of oil and gas is also known as exploration and production, or E&P because it encompasses activities related to searching for, recovering, and producing crude oil and natural gas. Upstream is all about wells, where to locate them; how deep and how far to drill them; and how to design, construct, operate and manage them to deliver the greatest possible return on investment with the lightest, safest and smallest operational footprint. In fact, the E&P sector should probably be called the EDP sector - because “you can’t find oil if you don’t drill wells.” Exploration Obtaining the Lease Let’s start with exploration which involves the operator obtaining a lease and permission to drill from the owner of onshore or offshore acreage thought to contain oil or gas. Then the operator must conduct geological and geophysical surveys to select the first well site to explore for, and hopefully find, economic accumulations of oil or gas. This well is often called a “wildcat well.” Drilling is physically creating the “borehole” in the ground that will eventually become a productive oil or gas well. This work is typically done by rig contractors and service companies in the Oilfield Services business sector. On a wellsite, there can be as many as 30-40 different service contractors providing expertise to the operator. Wells can be relatively simple or unbelievably complex. Wells can totally vertical for miles or both deep and horizontal. There are also highly complex “J” and “S” configured wells with numerous branches, or laterals, emanating from the original, or “mother”, hole. These are called “deviated wells.” Production Finally, let’s discuss production, where reserves are “converted to cash” by maximizing the recovery of hydrocarbons from subsurface reservoirs. Essentially, production is efficiently bringing the hydrocarbons to the surface and treating them as needed to make them marketable. So that’s the basics of E&P. We will drill deeper into each of these operations in the complete Oil 101 course at a later date. Now, let’s talk about unconventional resources, clearly the hottest topic in oil and gas over the last decade. Unconventional Future of Oil and Gas Unconventional resources are defined as any resource extracted, or produced, by any method other than the traditional vertical or slightly deviated well. The three main sources of technological breakthroughs that have made unconventional developments profitable include: Horizontal drilling Hydraulic fracturing Subsea engineering (especially deep water production)

How to write a literature review
How to write a literature review. It’s easier than you might think! In this video, I demonstrate how to search the literature and identify relevant papers for your literature review. I do a pubmed search using Boolean operators and MeSH terms (these are extremely powerful tools that will help you sift through the large number of academic papers out there). So if you’re doing a master’s thesis or a PhD, or you’re doing research and writing a paper, at some point, you’ll need to do a lit review. A big part of that review is the search and this video is going to help you get that right. You might be doing a systematic literature review or meta-analysis – again, you’ll need to do a good PubMed search that identifies the right studies. Thanks to BMC !!! ----------------------------- This video was sponsored by BMC – (click here to go to BMC: https://goo.gl/RFaUA2 ). As a pioneer of open access publishing, BMC has an evolving portfolio of high-quality peer-reviewed journals including broad interest titles such as BMC Biology and BMC Medicine, specialist journals such as Malaria Journal and Microbiome, and the BMC series. BMC is committed to continual innovation to better support the needs of research communities, ensuring the integrity of the research we publish, and championing the benefits of open research. BMC is part of Springer Nature, giving us greater opportunities to help authors connect and advance discoveries across the world. I’m particularly excited about having BMC’s support because I’ve been working with them for nearly 15 years as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Globalization and Health. I’ve been extremely impressed by them as a company that has integrity and that is truly making the world a better place. LEARN MORE about literature reviews ------------------------------------------------------------ Of course, there is more to a literature review than just the search. You need to have a structured approach to selecting paper, extracting data, writing the review itself and creating a bibliography. For more detail on these aspects of a literature review, go to www.learnmore365.com where I have a full course on literature review (it takes about 30 minutes to complete). Capturing Drone Geospatial Mapping and Survey Data
Geospatial Drone Data Acquisition is complex, and requires expertise if the data product is to be accurate, and precise. Data capture starts with a flight plan over a digital map, the flight plan overlap, altitude, sensor selection, and ground control points are all very important in the out come of the data product or map. Data download, upload to the cloud, and processing are the next step in the data change. Once data hits the cloud, Ventus automatically starts the data post processing process. Data and GCP's are complied and accuracy reports are generated on independent check points. The data can then be analyzed, or transformed into a form the customer needs. Actionable information is generated, and used in the asset management or data driven decision process!
