What if there once was a highly advanced civilization that we all stemmed from? The lost city of Atlantis has been the subject of fascination by many scholars and philosophers. It was first described in Ancient Greek writings by Plato, but in modern day, this story is understood as more of a metaphor. But actually, many ancient civilizations made references to Atlantis - from Ancient Egypt to the vikings to Babylonian texts. Archaeological findings and ancient texts also challenge the validity and timeline of certain historical events. They also hint at possible clues to a lost empire that was lost after a natural disaster and became forever lost underwater. ►Visit my Gaia page! http://www.gaia.com/beyondscience ➨Get tickets to the best show on earth!!! http://bit.ly/2gu7REI ❖Support me on Patreon! http://bit.ly/2lc36om ►Subscribe for more videos! http://bit.ly/1Mo6FxX ►Check out my food channel! http://bit.ly/1hsxh41 ★↓FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA!↓★ Facebook Show Page: https://www.facebook.com/beyondsciencetv Facebook Mike Fan Page: http://on.fb.me/1En9Lue Instagram: http://instagr.am/Mikexingchen http://instagr.am/beyondsciencetv Twitter: http://twitter.com/Mikexingchen Snapchat: Mikeychenx Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/mikexchen ✉ Send stuff to our PO Box! "Atlantis: The Antediluvian World is a book published during 1882 by Minnesota populist politician Ignatius L. Donnelly, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during 1831. Donnelly considered Plato's account of Atlantis as largely factual and attempted to establish that all known ancient civilizations were descended from this supposed lost land. Many of its theories are the source of many modern-day concepts we have about Atlantis, like the civilization and technology beyond its time, the origins of all present races and civilizations, a civil war between good and evil, etc." (Summary by Wikipedia)

http://www.longplays.org Played by: AFigureInBlack Description from Moby Games: The advanced city design of Atlantis shows that a fully-fledged society must've functioned there, and this adventure game brings it to life. Queen Rhea is the leader who is under threat, and young Seth is the character you control as he aims to save the day. How can he know who to trust, and who has their own agenda in this complex world? The world of Atlantis is displayed in fully-rotational full-screen 3D comprising of millions of polygons and full lip-synching using a proprietary system. Listen out for sounds of danger - sometimes they are the first warning you get. There are 5 different continents to explore, and each has its own cultures. In total there are 50 characters you will interact with, and puzzles using an inventory system. Save points are limited by the game. ===== I had a hard time trying to record this. Being an early windows-era game needed a lot of effort to be able to play it in Win10. There was a graphic glitch to start with that the only way to fix it was to start recording with Fraps!!! The bad thing is that Fraps could capture only sound so I was using at the same time Fraps (for fixing the glitch) and OBS (for recording the game). Another problem was that the patched version I used could not produce sound effects in some of the cut-scenes so I had to replay the unpatched version of the game to record the cut-scenes with proper sound effects. The price I had to pay was that music got interrupted in those cases. Then, I got the problem of sound and image being out of sync because the patched version run slower than the unpatched. To fix this I had to insert frames with no sound to match audio and video. I edited them in two different AviSynth files and pasted them together afterwards. As always, fails and death scenes are included at the end of the video.

Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6iNuXuk2gdglaFlbxpyCW6veg2QFjNqA Developed by: Cryo Interactive Entertainment === This title made me a fan of point 'n click adventure games. At first glance the story seems simple, but in the end it's a mythical tale about the roots of humanity. Because of its zen-like quality it struck a chord with me. The French developer Cryo Interactive delivers Johan Robson's story with fantastic graphics, tasteful designs by Thomas Boulard and an amazing atmospheric soundtrack composed by Pierre Estève & Stéphane Picq. ( Buy the album at www.shootingstarshop.com) For these reasons, "Atlantis, The Lost Tales" became a cult-classic for many. Despite my praise it has its shortcomings. And for being a Cryo-title, it's in the gameplay of course. There are some timed action-sequences which are difficult to get through, especially with an invisible cursor. The automatic save-system is another regretful decision. You have to play sequences over and over again to get past the countless deadly situations that our hero Seth is lured into. It also contains a few design-flaws which creates trail-and-error situations. Don't get me started on the crab-race... There is another bad aspect to the game; its programming. See my technical notes below. === TECHNICAL NOTES - The original Windows 95-version was far from stable. A patch solved lots of problems but created one more; characters had graphical glitches in their faces. Still, this version of the game was the most stable and it was used for all it's re-releases on physical media. The DVD-version is untouched by this but has its own problems like missing sounds for example. Later versions of Windows weren't too kind for Atlantis either. If you were lucky enough to get the game to work, the cursor and characters moved at ridiculous speed and got you out of the overall experience. Years later, GOG released their version of the game to be compatible with newer systems. Alas, except for the speed-issue it contains all the flaws mentioned above and add some more. I think it's a difficult game for GOG to keep up-to-date because of the poor programming in the source-material. They never got it stable. The last option for me was to use DOSBOX or a Virtual Machine, but I never got the mouse to work properly in it. In short; "Atlantis, The Lost Tales" was unplayable for me in it's original former glory. Until... - For some reason, Windows 10 (64-bit) was more kind to my original version of Atlantis. I made one big mount of my 4 original CD's, used the programm 'DXWnd' to control the speed-issue, only installed the old savegame-patch from Cryo and I was good to go. I still had some crashes, but it was stable enough to enjoy my journey back to Atlantis again and create these videos for you. As far as I know, this is the only English playthrough available of the original Windows 95 version. It's here now in all its original splendour. - For technical advice to get Atlantis to work on newer systems and links to the programs / patches mentioned above : http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Atlantis:_The_Lost_Tales === © Cryo Interactive Entertainment

Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 The story of Atlantis is one of the greatest mysteries ever told. It is a tale of a powerful civilisation destroyed by the gods more than 11,000 years ago. For centuries explorers have travelled the world in search of this lost city, but have found little. Did Atlantis really exist, or is it the work of one man’s vivid imagination? The search for Atlantis has been the inspiration behind some of mankind’s greatest achievements. It is the story of a great and powerful empire that became depraved and was sunk to the bottom of the sea by Zeus, the god of gods. Man has scoured the Earth in search for Atlantis, yet we still have no exact location for this lost continent. There are three islands that shed light on this mystery. The Greek island of Santorini in the Aegean Sea is a popular vacation spot unparalleled in its beauty, but with a violent past. Crete, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, whose history has contributed to the shaping of our world today. And Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean, which many believe is the last remnant of the lost city. “Lost City of Atlantis” is a documentary from the “World of Mysteries” series.

What is Atlantis? Atlantis may be fictional but it has a considerable impact on literature. Atlantis is an island, which was first mentioned in Plato's works Timaeus and Critias. Atlantis represents the antagonist naval power that besieges "Ancient Athens" Plato describes Atlantis as an island nation located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean populated by a noble and powerful race over 11,000 years ago. The people of this land possessed great wealth because of natural resources found throughout their island. The island was a hub for trade and commerce. The rulers of this land held sway over the people and land of their own island and well into Europe and Africa. Atlantis was the domain of Poseidon, god of the sea. As per the myth Poseidon fell in love with a mortal woman, Cleit. He then created a dwelling at the top of a hill at the center of the island and surrounded the dwelling with rings of water and land to protect her. Cleito, then gave birth to five sets of twin boys who became the first rulers of Atlantis. The island was divided among the brothers with the eldest, Atlas, first King of Atlantis, was given control over the central hill and surrounding areas. At the top of the central hill, a temple was built to honor Poseidon which had a giant gold statue of Poseidon riding a chariot pulled by winged horses. It was here that the rulers of Atlantis would come to pass judgments, discuss laws, and pay tribute to Poseidon.. For generations the Atlanteans lived simple, virtuous lives. But slowly they began to change. They became greedy and powerful. As the Atlanteans grew powerful, their ethics began to decline. Their armies eventually captured Africa as far as Egypt and Europe as far as Tyrrhenia before being driven back by an Athenian-led alliance. Greed and power dominated them. When Zeus saw the immorality of the Atlanteans, he gathered the other gods to decide a suitable punishment. Later, by way of divine punishment, the island was beset by earthquakes and floods, and sank into a muddy sea. Soon, in one violent surge it was gone. The island of Atlantis, its people, and its memory were swallowed by the sea. Until late 1800s Atlantis was just a story. Then, an American named Ignatius Donnelly became fascinated with the story and studied flood history from Egypt to Mexico and believed that Plato was recording an actual natural disaster. Ignatius wrote a book called Atlantis, the Antediluvian World, which became a bestseller. Ignatius. Since then, many books have been written about the lost city. The most believable theory about Atlantis came from the Greek archaeologist Angelos Galanopoulos in the late '60s. He theorized that around 1500 BCE, a massive eruption from a volcano ripped apart the island of Santorini in the Mediterranean and probably wiped out most of the civilization on the Greek islands and regions of Greece. Angelos suggested this disaster is the one that sank Atlantis. If this is so, then he must have his dates wrong - or does he? He reasons that when the story was being translated, the Egyptian symbol for 100 (a coiled rope) was mistaken for the symbol for 1000 (a lotus flower). This changes the date from 9000 years ago to 900 years ago. The only thing wrong with this explanation is that Plato specifically said the city was near the Pillars of Hercules, which are thought to be nowhere near Greece. The exact location of the lost city of Atlantis is still questioned by many people. British Royal Air Force photo interpreter J.M. Allen believes that Atlantis is in Altiplano, near the Andes Mountains, in Bolivia. Edgar Cayce, the famous psychic chandler believed the remains would be found off the coast of Florida near Bimini Island. Some think it's lost somewhere in Central America, the China Sea or Africa. Others believe that Atlantis is nothing more than a myth. So what do you all think about Atlantis. Is it fictional or real, comment below and let us know. I was lost, then I was found, you might hear some of the wonders of the world say if they could speak. We might look at perhaps the best known once-lost city in Machu Picchu, that was abandoned in the 16th century and discovered again in the 20th century. Then you have the spellbinding city of Angkor in Cambodia, which was never really lost, but certainly needed a lot of restoration for it to look as magnificent as it does today. We also have cities that are perhaps only legends, El Dorado, The Lost City of Gold; or The Lost City of Z, whose mystery lured explorers from Europe… and some never returned home. But today we’ll talk about perhaps greatest legend of them all, in this episode of the Infographics Show, The Evidence That The lost city of Atlantis Existed. If we want to know the origins of the city of Atlantis we have to go back to the great, Greek ancient philosopher known as Plato. You’ve probably heard of the guy. Some writers have said all philosophy is just a footnote to Plato, while he’s the man that wrote the Socratic dialogues; he came up with The Cave allegory we still talk about today and he advanced ideas on justice, law, and learning that we all should be thankful for. With that in mind, if Plato was the one that started the story of Atlantis, perhaps we should take him seriously? Well, while there are still people that believe Atlantis was real, most others, tell us Plato told that tale as an allegory, meaning the story had a hidden meaning in it. Plato said in 360 B.C. that these Atlanteans had a pretty good life. No doubt if such a thing existed back then, Atlantis would have come very high in standard of living indexes. The people that lived there were human, but also God-like, according to Plato. Where the island is, is actually widely debated, with some saying that the island, and surrounding islands, were just somewhere in the Mediterranean, and others saying near Spain, in the Pacific, the Caribbean or even close to Antarctica. The place is described as having one main island, with smaller islands surrounding it. It was a wonderful spot, too, where exotic wildlife not seen anywhere else wandered around, and where precious metals were plentiful. It was said living there was a Utopian existence, before Sir Thomas More wrote his book 'Utopia’ in 1516 and we started using that word to mean the apogee of human civilization. You get the picture, Atlantis was supposed to be perfect in every way. No one messed with the Atlanteans, either, because they had an impenetrable navy. Was Atlantis a real place or just a fictional story? Where might it be located? Many have searched for the location of the lost city where a powerful civilization lived. But could they have been looking in the wrong place all this time? A recent report claims to have discovered the true location of Atlantis, and it’s nowhere near where you’d expect it to be! TIMESTAMPS: How the story actually goes 1:38 The way the story was told 5:09 Theories that support the existence of Atlantis 6:08 Is the Richat Structure where Atlantis has been hiding? 7:58 How an “island” could be sitting in the desert 10:43 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Bus Da Blockbuster - Doug Maxwell/Media Right Productions Destination Unknown - Ugonna Onyekwe Ladybug - Quincas Moreira Light Years Away - Doug Maxwell SUMMARY: - The idea of Atlantis was conceptualized by the Greek philosopher Plato, who wrote about it in two of his works, Timaeus and Critias. - Atlantis was an extraordinary island in the Atlantic Ocean. As for the main city located there, its peculiarity was that it had concentric rings that alternated between water and land. The city was beautifully designed, had extravagant architecture, was home to kings and a strong military force, and was overall a marvel to behold. - In essence, the legend of Atlantis tries to show that Athens was the most powerful state. It’s a story about a small but peaceful city (Athens) that triumphs over a powerful but corrupt one (Atlantis). - It was a tale that was passed down from generation to generation: from Egyptian priests, to Solon, to Critias’ grandfather, to Critias himself, and finally to Socrates. If the story was real, information is bound to be lost, misinterpreted, or changed in some way. - There are some theories that support the existence of Atlantis. According to Robert Ballard, the ocean explorer who discovered the wreckage of the Titanic, the story of Atlantis makes sense because similar things have happened to other civilizations. - If the island was real, there are so many theories about its original location. Some have said it existed under Antarctica, on the coast of Spain, or somewhere in the Mediterranean. - The Richat Structure, casually known as the “The Eye of the Sahara,” is a circular formation in the Earth located in Northwest Africa, in the country of Mauritania. And if you look at pictures that depict what the city of Atlantis might’ve looked like and compare them to the Richat Structure, you can’t deny the similarities! - Now, there are differing ideas on how to interpret ancient units of measurement, but most sources put one stadium equal to anywhere from 607 to 630 feet. So, do the math and 127 of those would be about 15 miles. - To support this claim is the fact that the Richat Structure is deeply eroded, meaning that great amounts of water must have created the formations that currently stand. Pictures of the coastal area of the region show what looks like water formations going from the coast to where the Richat Structure now stands. Hot on the heels of the first two parts comes part three of HOSH's Stories From Sa Talaia series. The series takes tracks from his recently released album of the same name and releases them on his new fryhide label. First up are two collaborations with Pig&Dan. Atlantis Is Not A Fairy Tale, a spine tingling tune with shifting melodies above rolling rubber beats. It's emotive and colourful and sets a nice mood to start off. The second Brotherhood Balearea is deep and elastic, with nice rubber beats and spraying synths bringing some real dynamism to the table. One of those tunes Sven Vath would drop at those special Ibiza after parties. Awakening Of The Birds a collaboration with Karmon takes off right there and keeps you in that trance but gets more groovy with its inducing light footed drums, airy hi hats and skyward melodies all zoning you out. Last of all, Meeting Mia Lee is a beautifully melodic track that really moves you and strikes a resonant chord with your heart as the smooth and deep house vibes unfold. Speaking of heart it features the heartbeat of HOSH's unborn daughter. Once again then, this is another richly rewarding EP from the one and only HOSH. ---- https://www.beatport.com/release/stories-from-sa-talaia-chapter-iii/2061628 ---- www.fryhide.com www.facebook.com/fryhide www.instagram.com/fryhide [fryhide]

Tales from Atlantis, The Antediluvian World, Part 2 (Mythology Audiobook) "Atlantis: The Antediluvian World is a book published during 1882 by Minnesota populist politician Ignatius L.

During his introduction to a day-long presentation, Randall touches on the fascinating tale of Atlantis as relayed to Plato 2500 years ago through his dialogues with Timaeus and Critias. The Atlantean Revival began with two books by Donnelly in the 1880s, and despite strained attempts to place it elsewhere, scientific findings continue to provide evidence supporting Plato’s accounts of the antediluvian culture in the Mid-Atlantic. Subscribe to Naked Science - http://goo.gl/wpc2Q1 Every other Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare... A disaster is looming. A fabulous city, rich in culture, and technological advances, is about to be destroyed. Buildings, people, an entire civilisation, swept away by an overwhelming natural disaster. The legend has entranced scientists and scholars for centuries. In this episode Naked Science goes in search of the most enduring myth of all - The City of Atlantis - lost beneath the waves to a massive natural cataclysm some 11,000 years ago. We know very little of Atlantis, in fact were it not for the writings of the Greek philosopher Plato we might not have encountered it at all. Plato, recounting a story he heard as a child, described a huge metropolis, rich in fine art, architecture and culture. The city was destroyed in the space of a day and a night, sunk beneath the waves for eternity by a massive natural cataclysm. For thousands of years the tale remained an obscure yet tantalising fable until an American by the name of Ignatius Donnelly reignited the idea, bringing it to worldwide attention and sending archaeologists and trophy hunters alike across the globe in its wake.

Take a look at what happened to Atlantis! Here are 9 of the best theories about the mysterious city: Subscribe to Bored Badger: https://www.youtube.com/boredbadger Check out DEVASTATING Spiders: https://youtu.be/ueUuD4ofuME Plenty of rumors, quack scientists and web articles are out there saying Atlantis is this or its that- And today we’re gonna look into what exactly is Atlantis? What do we know? Did it exist? Is Aquaman underrated?.. I’ll be getting to the ocean bottom of all of this and more - let’s get to it 11. Atlantis Was deep toyed in One Day. Across the world almost every culture you find will have a myth about and ancient deluge- or massive mud. It’s well known to scientists now that these great mud stories come from a time of sea-level prize. We all know that just a bit of sea-level prize today would sink much of Manhattan’s financial district, portions of L.A. and forget about Miami, might as well call Miami Atlantis 2.0. So with this mud sing happening at a much larger scale in the past, you can imagine what happened to all the people living near the coast. One guy made a map of the Mediterranean with a dot on all the frowned cities- it looks like it has 10. The first known Historical Texts that describe Atlantis, by name, are the documents Timaeus & Critias, written by Plato, of Ancient Greek and Hasboro fame. Inside we find a mysterious account from Plato’s ancestor- Solon. Also well-known, and respected in Ancient Greece, Solon, in no uncertain terms describes the tale of Atlantis upon hearing about it from the Pharaoh & feasts during a trip to Egypt. These “Kings” of Egypt told Solon that Egypt, itself, was created by the Atlantians 9. How did Atlantis kick the bucket? Solon, in Plato’s writings, was told a specific date when Atlantis had fallen—which was 9,000 years before his time. Solon, alive around 600 B.C., places the Fall of Atlantis, conveniently at the end of the previous ice age, during which, continent-sized amounts of dry land were covered with the surge of melt water from thawing ice reserves around the planet. 8. The Legend is World-Wide, Atlantis is the Name the name everyone knows, a very Greek-sounding name. But we there are extant writings and stories from several cultures that describe a very similar place- in their own tongue.. In Japan there are stories of underwater Yonaguni structures- And similar reports from native communities of Portugal, Indonesia, Southern India, and Malta. A 900-year-old map based on even older maps from 7. We know what Atlantis May Have Looked Like. Standing at the mouth towering above are ‘The pillars of Heracles’ past that- an island “larger than Libya and Asia together.” Not exactly sure how that would fit in the middle of the Atlantic, but hey it was a different time. Plato’s Maps 6. It’s almost uncanny how the odd palm see her city theorist usually has an opinion about Atlantis. Fortunately for us, some of these people are famous. Apart from palm yay, celebs generally don’t think it’s a good look to gossip on the fringe- so on the short-list of Atlantis admirers we have: Pete Carrol- Surprisingly this lovable Superbowl-winning NFL coach who received some critical attention for his…let’s say, nontraditional views on fine he wed him 5. A theory that is beginning to gain popularity is that Atlantis was just one jewel from a global advanced civilization that built roads, intricate buildings, elaborate trade networks and advanced spill it Harry. It was said the Atlantians had a humungous central continent- and some researchers are now confident it was Antarctica. It was a really long time ago but 4. There are a lot of interchangeable elements to the world’s religions. Crisp pin moos cousins are all familiar with Noah’s park. The similarities between Sumerian pods and those from many other traditions is striking. Throughout the world, we have decoded-texts with pictures of sometimes fish-like pods that brought high technology to the people, allowing them to build great cities. 3. The Spanish feast hood did an investigation finding some evidence that vestiges from an ancient time might remain. Some link their findings to an Atlantis connection to the Aztecs and a The Aubin Codex decoded by Diego Duran, scared the feast hood from the level of similarity it had to Sumerian myth. 2. We can all agree Atlantis is no longer here. But some have suggested it was due to more with another country. Since it was so long ago, all we have are old documents, showing super-advanced city states at more. It was said that these city states carried on for centuries peacefully, 1. In the early 2000’s, National Geographic bought the rights to publicize author Paulina Zelitsky discovery off the coast of tuba.

Age of Mythology (AoM) is a mythology-based real-time strategy video game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It was released on October 30, 2002 in North America and a week later in Europe. A spin-off from the Age of Empires series, Age of Mythology takes some of its inspiration from the myths and legends of the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse, rather than from actual historical events. However, many gameplay elements are similar to the Age of Empires series. Its campaign follows an Atlantean admiral, Arkantos, who is forced to travel through the lands of the game's three cultures, hunting for a cyclops who is in league with Poseidon against Atlantis. Age of Mythology was commercially successful, going platinum four months after its release after selling over one million units. In 2003, it was followed by an expansion pack, Age of Mythology: The Titans. On May 8, 2014, Age of Mythology: Extended Edition was released for Windows via Steam. This was followed by a second expansion pack, Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon, released on January 28, 2016. It adds a fifth civilization to the game, the Chinese, as well as a new campaign. Age of Mythology: Tale of the Dragon is the latest expansion to Age of Mythology: Extended Edition and developed by Forgotten Empires and Skybox Labs. The main feature of the expansion is a new Civilization, known as the Chinese. The Chinese Major Gods were revealed in a livestream on October 2, 2015 to be Shennong, Fu Xi and Nü Wa, together known as the Three Sovereigns. Chinese unique units include Terracotta Warriors, White Tigers, Chu Ko Nu, Mounted Archers, Halberdiers and 2 types of heroes (Monks and Immortals). The Chinese Titan is Pangu. Pangu is a deity so enormous he became the world. The expansion features a new campaign, only tangiably related to the Fall of the Trident, and The New Atlantis Campaigns. The campaign is either set sometime after War of the Titans or during the events of The New Atlantis campaign and is set in China. "Due to the rumbling fights of the Titans in the Western world, Yin and Yang are shattered once again. This creates an unseen chaos in the otherwise peaceful China, which is thriving under the rule of Emperor Yao. As a General in the Emperor’s army, Jiao-Long must find a way to restore Yin and Yang and return peace to the empire." -- Campaign Sypnosis The campaign is fully voiced, like Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms. http://ageofempires.wikia.com/wiki/Age_of_Mythology:Tale_of_the_Dragon Music: A Flash in the Pan by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://www.twinmusicom.org/ Transportation by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/

A review of Atlantis - The Lost Tales, a game from Cryo Interactive. Can you actually make a game with little more than clever logic and a bunch of Panoramas resembling some kind of CGI version of Google Street View? Who even remembers this thing? Is it worth playing now? I left a few things out, deciding to leave my Riven rant in instead. A few things I also wanted to mention but ended up cutting; - Different Game Over dialog is given for each different failure by the player. - The Inventory is not automatic, so you always have to take items out of it. - The theme of the game is called Sunriders. - I wanted to show the guards chasing me, but ran out of drive space. - Other stuff. Once you exceed the games needed CPU speed, there's actually quite a gap before it becomes silly fast, so it doesn't have to be as tight as I might make it seem. This video is available at 50fps but I will not be making a habit of this on the current workstation as the rendering time is simply too long and the file size makes uploading it cost a considerable amount of money, especially given it failed once already.
