Browne hopes that designers aren't too swayed by industry forces. Question: Who dictates fashion? Thom Browne: Who dictates . . . I guess in a . . . in a way I . . . I guess it's, you know, the consumer does, you know definitely dictate on how . . . on how big fashion ideas become. I mean definitely editors create either trends or say something is, you know, whatever . . . "in or out", whatever that means. And then . . . but more importantly I would hope that fashion designers just do their own thing and don't get caught up in who is dictating fashion. Because in a way, especially when I design my collections, I don't think about that. Everybody kind of creates that after I do what I do because I'm not conscious of creating a trend of creating anything past what is true to me. Recorded on: 10/29/07 Question: Who dictates fashion? Your 30s are a wonderful time when you’ve finally gained confidence and know what you want. However, the appearances of 30-year-old women now and just 30–40 years ago couldn't be more different! In the past, a 30-year-old woman used to be considered an adult lady and she looked it! It was easy to tell a 20-year-old woman from a woman who was 10 years older. But today, a young girl can really shock us with her passport that says “30 years old” because today, 30-year-old girls look exactly the same as 20-year-olds. Scientists have proven that “middle age” begins at 35, so if you’re just 30 years old, you are officially a young person. We at Bright Side decided to find out more about the mysteries of age and want to understand why modern women look so different from the women of the past. Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Even though 30 continues to be a significant age mark, ladies have learned to have fun with it! In modern society, age is just a number. - Today's 30-something women are rocking torn jeans, they dye their hair bright colors, they have piercings, and they look amazing doing it all! Such fashion choices only complement their natural beauty, making them look fresh and young. - It may sound strange to young women under 30, but a number of years ago, the beauty industry and its idea of the perfect makeup look were completely different. All the fancy makeup tools and products were saved for special occasions. - These days women have the opportunity to create their own stable income, which allows them to enjoy the latest skincare products, hottest vacation destinations, shopping sprees, and other things that make them happy. - Another thing that came with the beauty industry's revolution was cosmetic procedures. They weren't that widely used a few decades ago! Nowadays, you can do some of them at almost any age. - For previous generations of women, finding great and unique clothes that would also fit perfectly could be a real challenge. Needless to say, in our modern society, long shopping trips are often not a necessity but pure pleasure! - In the past, social stereotypes were even harder on women. The only life goal that they were “supposed” to have was getting married and starting a family. The saddest thing is that many of them really had no other choice. - One of the most important things in our life is our health. Thankfully, here women now have the upper hand too! The days when medicine used to be tricky to get access to are long gone. Today, seeing any doctor on any day is a piece of cake! - If anyone older than you told you something bad, you'd probably be ashamed and pick at the pieces of your shattered self-confidence. Nowadays, this stereotype doesn't have a hold on young women as they know that even people with more life experience shouldn't dictate what they should do. - Drinking enough pure water throughout the day is essential for great looks and a healthy body. However, just a few decades ago, this wasn't common knowledge! Cotton or wool? That is the question that should be at the top of your list when deciding what to look for in any clothing item. The material will dictate a lot on how that piece will fare in your intended use. Is soft merino wool what you're after, or Egyptian cotton? Will you be in a cold environment or warm? Do you have skin conditions or allergies? How long do you want this piece to last? These are all questions that will help point you in the right direction in choosing cotton or wool for your next garment. -Website: https://newenglandstyleconsulting.com/ -Email: [email protected] -Commercial video work: [email protected] -Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/newenglandstyleconsulting/ -Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/New-England-Style-Consulting-703020919797896/ My Camera Gear: Main camera: https://amzn.to/2uMfosk B-camera: https://amzn.to/2qbTwlu Main lens: https://amzn.to/2GV2ZHJ Macro lens: https://amzn.to/2Jqqq9Z B-roll lens: https://amzn.to/2GGSZCg Interview lens: https://amzn.to/2GBwZZy Drone: https://amzn.to/2qa8pVC Microphone: https://amzn.to/2uWpyqm Badass camera case: https://amzn.to/2GB94tb Lighting: https://amzn.to/2Jlidnv This video may contain offensive language, affiliate links, peanuts, and gluten.

Eagle Claw Cufflinks with Tiger's Eye Balls - https://gentl.mn/2MHlLoQ 3. Shadow Stripe Ribbed Socks Light Brown and Blue - https://gentl.mn/2MumTNh #colors #skintone #notsponsored If you're a warm skin undertone just like I am, you can really wear earth colors very well and it will always look good on you. By that, I mean colors of brown, green, warm red, mustard yellow, and anything that is quite warm and natural. Likewise, neutrals like beige and cream that are softer will really work for you. In terms of the metal color, gold is the way to go. On the other hand, if you have a cool undertone, look at shades of blue, purple, and green, they will work really well for you especially if you choose pastels. So think about a pastel blue, pastel green, maybe pastel pink, or pastel lavender, those are really great colors. In terms of metals, silver or platinum would likely work better for you and so when in doubt, go with that metal color. No matter what skin type you are, there are three colors that are considered to be universally flattering. They include eggplant which is kind of really dark purple, a true red which is not burgundy but lighter and brighter, as well as green. Now when it comes to colors, you may have heard of the concept of washed out colors. Just think about a washed pair of denim that used to be really dark blue but you've washed it so much that now it's just a faint blue color and it just doesn't look new anymore and you don't want to wear it. The same concept can be transitioned to humans and your face. The idea is that if you have the wrong colors next to your face it makes your skin colors look washed out in a negative way. As I mentioned before, apart from color, it's also important to look at the contrast. For most people, it pays not to go extreme with the contrast but it's important to maintain some element of it. What I mean by that, for example, if you have a lighter skin tone, it pays to go with a lower contrast. So don't wear a black jacket with a white shirt because that's just too strong. Instead, maybe go with a light blue shirt and a medium gray suit that will flatter your skin tone much more. Now if you're a medium skin tone just like I am, you still want to avoid these really high contrast outfits of black and white or Navy and white. Even though Navy and a lighter shade of white can work for you. On the other hand, you also don't want to go with pastel tones that are too close to your skin tone because not enough contrast is not flattering either. Apart from that, you can play a lot with contrast. I can, for example, wear a white shirt with maybe a charcoal suit or a gray flannel suit that will still look good at the same time, I can wear a light blue shirt with it and it's less of a contrast but it still works for me. Now overall, if you have darker skin tones, you can really wear high contrast outfits. Navy suits, white shirts, that's something that really works for you but definitely avoid pairing a light blue shirt with a light gray suit because it makes you look washed out. So now that you know all those theoretical points about skin tone, skin undertone, the colors you have to wear, cool, medium, and warm, how do you actually break it down and select clothes that work for you? The first thing you want to do is to identify the color ranges that work for you. Again, you don't have to just choose colors from that spectrum but it pays to look at those colors that work for you and then maybe choose variations of it. When putting together an outfit, color choices are most impactful with the colors that are closest to your face and your skin. If you're into hats, they're also right next to your face so make sure you get the colors right. If you want to wear colors that fall outside of your color spectrum, try to keep them away from your face and you can go with your pants, maybe your cufflinks, your socks, your pocket square. Finally to conclude, keep in mind that you can still wear the colors that you like. Don't let skin tones and undertones dictate the only colors you wear and keep in mind that contrast is always key. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? WHOOPS since this video exploded into a gnarly mess of controversy, i'll clarify some things: the primary, intended target of the video was the bounty of articles, columns, interviews, videos, etc that dictate how women should wear/look like/etc to make themselves more appealing to men. regardless of whether they were written by men or women, the overall message is absolutely ridiculous. so in response, i made a satirical video which played on the ludicrousness of the articles/videos/magazines' original intent. the secondary targets are men who legitimately think that way — that is, the "women should dress to make themselves aesthetically pleasing to men" way. the men in question only represent a portion of the male population. when i talk about men in the video, those are the men to which i am referring, not the entire male population. i totally know that there are plenty of men who live and let live, and who don't shame or guilt women into dressing for men's pleasure. these types of men are totally fine by me, and are not at all targets of the video. so really, instead of getting hot and fussy about generalization, they really ought to remove themselves from the equation, sit back, relax, and have a laugh. :- ) TL;DR: if you're a man and you allow women look the way they want, then you're cool; keep doing what you're doing! watch this video with an open mind and let yourself laugh a little bit. if you're a man and you try to guilt or shame women based on their appearance, then you ought to be carried off by a hawk and dropped in a river. -- hello friends! today we are discussing the hot topic of the top 8 beauty trends that men hate. aka the top 8 beauty trends you should keep rocking. really though, no hard feelings guys. only soft feelings. soft feelings settled inside a thick outer shell that's completely coated in knives and broken glass. (10 Jun 2015) LEAD-IN: They're a must in terms of practicality, but also the source of either profound pleasure or agonising pain. Now shoes through the centuries, including Queen Victoria's silk and leather pumps and the towering platforms created by Vivienne Westwood , are on show at an exhibition designed to thrill our inner Carrie Bradshaw. STORY-LINE: Cinderella's glass slippers, this time made from Swarovski crystals, represent the ultimate 'twinkle toes' from the latest instalment of the popular Disney tale, released this year. They're an object of desire for many, but for others Cinderella's swanky shoes represent a chance to transform, escape and become something else. Now, these and more than 200 other pairs of historic and contemporary shoes from around the globe are on display as part of a new exhibition in London. It explores the agony of wearing shoes as well as the euphoria and obsession they inspire. The exhibition also shows how long our obsession with shoes has lasted. This small statue of the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, shows her wearing thick-soled footwear akin to latter day platform shoes. "Shoes has been in the spotlight for quite a while now and there's been a lot of talk about the obsession about shoes, and I really wanted to look underneath that, what lies beneath this obsession?" says exhibition curator, Helen Persson. "This exhibition is trying to really explore this obsession, what is the significance of shoes?" The significance of shoes is sometimes their status - impractical footwear has sometimes been worn to demonstrate privilege. Their design, shape and fabric can make them difficult to walk in, meaning shoes can also dictate how the owner moves. "Every can recognise you from a distance if you're wearing winkle-pickers because you kind of have to move in a certain way," says Persson. "Or you're wearing high heels, of course today your hips will go, so it's all about movement. But it's also about restrictions because certain shoes will make you not move very far, they will bind you to the home." The exhibition features footwear from some of the highest levels of society - these silk, gold thread and leather shoes were once worn by Britain's Queen Victoria. These Spanish chaplin's from between the 16th and 17th centuries were originally intended as a form of overshoe to carry the wearer above muddy streets. Later seen to signal high status , they forced the wearer to stroll at a slow pace. "The more impractical, the more uncomfortable, the more decorative and higher they are you will then show that you have no concerns for the normalities of life, not even walking," says Persson. Nothing illustrates that more than these towering , blue platform shoes by British designer Vivienne Westwood. They were once worn by super model Naomi Campbell at a Paris catwalk event in 1993. Campbell took a tumble while wearing the high-heels, making headlines in the process. "It's kind of an important moment," says Persson. "Yes, she fell over, it was quite horrible, but she was kind of the first fashion road kill in a way because that was the highest, the most extreme shoes kind of seen on the catwalk for a long time and now models are falling over all the time." Vogue's international editor, Suzy Menkes, was there that day. She says it's only a surprise more models haven't suffered similar same fates. "I was at the Vivienne Westwood show when Naomi Campbell took a tumble on those shoes," she says. "Was I surprised? No, I was only amazed that more of these shoes had not thrown the models to the ground. Right the way through fashion history, the shoes are so extraordinary." But shoes aren't always a fashion item, sometimes they can also represent sexual empowerment. These functions may be entirely carried out to assist one other employee or may be for the benefit of more than one. In other situations a secretary is an officer of a society or organization who deals with correspondence, admits new members and organizes official meetings and events. A secretary has many administrative duties. Traditionally, these duties were mostly related to correspondence, such as the typing out of letters, maintaining files of paper documents, etc. The advent of word processing has significantly reduced the time that such duties require, with the result that many new tasks have come under the purview of the secretary. These might include managing budgets and doing bookkeeping, maintaining websites, and making travel arrangements. Secretaries might manage all the administrative details of running a high-level conference or arrange the catering for a typical lunch meeting. Often executives will ask their assistant to take the minutes at meetings and prepare meeting documents for review... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictation_(exercise) Dictation is the transcription of spoken text: one person who is "dictating" speaks and another who is "taking dictation" writes down the words as they are spoken. Among speakers of several languages, dictation is used as a test of language skill, similar to spelling bees in the English-speaking world. Secondary to teaching language skills, the exercise of dictation has also been used to introduce students to literary works, and to instill morals... The first known written use of the word was in 1581. It derives from Latin, dictare (to assert). Method The exercise requires at least two persons: a reciter and a recorder. The reciter reads a selected text, evenly and clearly and at audible volume, by snippets of multiple words (three to ten or as need be). The text is transcribed by the recorders, as the reciter proceeds. Each snippet is read by the reciter at first slowly, then repeated once or twice at a normal pace. Once the selection has been read to the end in this way, the reciter reads the text once again from start to finish at a normal pace. The recorders then have time to re-read their work, and edit where necessary. The exercise in knowledge, comprehension and application comes to a close. The analysis and evaluation step now proceeds as follows, upon the revelation of the selected text. The process requires a red pen, and can be varied according to the maturity of the recorders, or as to taste: - the reciter gathers the written work of the recorders and evaluates it; - the recorders are given the selection and expected to grade themselves. The latter auto-evaluation process is quicker, but is sometimes trickier for two reasons: one, the handwriting of the recorder is indistinguishable from that of the evaluator; and two, the severity of the evaluator may be in question as the same person (or class of persons) is employed. The selected texts are often taken from a sentence, a paragraph or a page of a published book, and may include an homily in morals, honesty or nobility. Biblical passages or pages from the Fables of La Fontaine have been employed with success throughout the ages...

As benchmark events in the fashion industry, Fashion Weeks produce and dictate specific standards of aesthetics and beauty, and market them via their advertising: one more strategy in the globalization of Western consumer culture. The beauty-cult is as firmly established on the catwalks of every Fashion Week as it is in the advertising they generate. The fashion industry uses bodies as tools in order to sell goods and encourage consumption. The image of the body in advertising materials constrains and oppresses an individual’s true beauty, even as it conceals it behind the rhetoric of its own liberation. In its new project, Unveiling Beauty, Vermibus rejected on this use of the body, and on standards of beauty imposed from above, within the framework of the Fashion Week circuit, via a series of public interventions. Unveiling Beauty, as the name suggests, reveals the beauty that lies hidden behind the make-up and the photographic retouching that are used both within the fashion industry and in the way it publically stages itself via advertising. In September 2015, Vermibus has followed the route of the most influential Fashion Weeks, travelling to New York, London, Milan and Paris. And he analysed and revealed the true beauty that was hidden behind the various campaigns that are imposed on the public spaces of these cities. vermibus.com Video by Xar Lee. cargocollective.com/xar_lee Directed and produced by Vermibus. Brands will attempt to consume you until they define you. Be self aware and don't let old racist men in suits dictate your fashion. Think of what $890 could do for someone with nothing. We should've been had boycotted Gucci. They don't want to see me with any influence because I won't make them any money. The latest fashion? Nah, I'll be myself thank you. My Website: http://www.iamalpham.com Short Man Style Blog: http://www.themodestman.com Short Man Style Book: http://www.shortmanstyle.com In this video men's style and grooming expert, Aaron Marino of Alpha M and http://www.iamalpham.com, talks about being a short man in today's world. He also talks about how to dress in-order to look taller and how to dress to maximize your height. There are some key elements and strategies that short men or man of modest height can execute to make themselves look taller and appear taller. Remember that when a confident man walks in the room it doesn't matter his height. Aaron Marino of alpha m. is a man who happens to be short at 5 ft 6 in. He is deemed 'short' by societal standards. He catches comments on YouTube surrounding his height which makes him ponder why people are fixated on such an arbitrary topic. Alpha doesn't think his height is a big deal as he doesn't contemplate his height and doesn't identify himself with his height. Alpha's heart is broken when people are concerned about their height when asking for hair style or hair product information. These men are addressing height as if it's a flaw or deficiency, and some allow height to define them which affects their confidence and self-worth. Height is a minor detail (not a handicap), but society makes us feel super insecure if we don't fit into a certain mold. This same media makes stupid people famous! Being short is not the reason you haven't achieved your goals; however, there is some truth about short men having to prove themselves and having to work harder than the taller counterpart. BUT there is always a person or group that is prejudice about some factor whether skin color, weight, hair color, ethnicity, etc. It doesn't matter who you are, what you do, what you look like- one of the greatest things about humans is that we are all different. So many men, however, allow height to affect confidence and self-esteem. Your height doesn't dictate who you are, doesn't define you as a man, and doesn't limit your possibilities. You decide what you are capable of! Alpha realizes there are a lot of men of the 'modest stature' and may be wondering about what clothing types and styles are the best for the short man. Being a short man, shopping presents challenges. Typically, Alpha makes videos for the general population so everyone can extract something. However, Alpha has found the Modest Man by Brock and wants to share. It's a free website and a rich resource for short men. Brock also offers an e-book as well regarding short man's strategies to maximize your look (Short Man's Style). Please note that Alpha is not getting compensated or paid by the Modest Man or Short Man's Style by Brock.

How to build an outfit from the feet up? Sometimes you know you want to wear your Chelsea boots, dress boots, or sneakers but you're not sure what clothes should go with it to make an outfit. We're lucky that we live in a world that has become more accepting of breaking gender norms — it might not seem like it, but we've made some headway in typical cisnormative standards of beauty. We still have a long way to go, though. As my first guest on #PrettyUnfiltered, Frankie Grande — social media personality, Broadway baby and, just in case you didn't know, big brother to Ariana, stops by to discuss why your gender shouldn't dictate your beauty habits. A man wearing makeup doesn't make him gay; a woman who shaves her face doesn't make her less feminine. We've seen breakthroughs in gender fluidity in the news, thanks to stars like Ruby Rose, but what we really need is to realize that typical gender roles are now dead. Check out everything Frankie had to say about how his idea of beauty has transformed over the years, and be sure to pick up his new fragrance, Frankie by Ariana Grande. Dan and Sian discuss more ways to make dictation enjoyable for students. You can use the following techniques: Whispering chain dictation Have the students work in groups and stand in a line. Communicate the target language to the first student in each line, who must whisper it to the person next to them. The target language is passed down the line until the learner at the end records it on paper. Then have them switch places. Back to back dictation This is a nice activity for emulating phone conversations or any situation where learners may not be able to see each other face to face. Quite simply, give learners a split text to communicate and have them sit back to back. They are not allowed to turn around or attempt to see their partner. They must then work together to complete the text. Picture dictation These are perfect for practising things like prepositions, directions, adjectives and descriptions of things – it all depends on the picture. Give one student a picture and have them describe it to their partner, who is not allowed to see it directly. Their partner must draw it as accurately as possible. Young learners picture dictation This is useful for teaching human body vocabulary. After introducing the vocabulary, give the learners a piece of paper and ask them to draw the body parts that you name. Feel free to make the drawings unusual e.g. three legs! Get them to draw a monster, which can be coloured in later and they can practice speaking by describing what they have drawn. Minimalism is an important fundamental principle of design. Not a dictate of fashion, but the absolute timeless consciousness of what seems essential to us. The secret of minimalistic design and the unsurpassed wearing comfort of Silhouette eyewear lies, among other things, in the SPX®+ polymer composite, whose ground-breaking potential revolutionized the lightness of Silhouette's eyewear design. The secret behind SPX®+? S stands for Silhouette, P for polyamide, X for the design-related choice of materials. The vision: eyewear made of SPX®+ that can be combined with other high-quality materials such as high-tech titanium -- formal, puristic, slim, flowing and dynamic, with no sharp edges, a soft feel and super-flexible temples, with no screws, no hinges. With passion, patience, perfection and the specially developed polymer composite SPX®+, this vision became reality.

Follow Nexter for more: https://nexter.org/ The Winter Olympics come around only once every 4 years. While the event is all about winter sports, fashion has also begun to play an integral part in the presentation of the games. The cool designs of various team uniforms tend to dictate the winter fashion trends for the next 4 years. The Olympic colors are often worked into various uniform designs out of respect for the event. Though it is not a required element for any uniform design, most countries choose to integrate the color scheme to show solidarity with the intentions of the games. Since the top fashion designers from each country are often tasked to produce these uniforms, trending fashion styles always accompanies the uniforms, creating a slew of fashion-forward presentations and innovative designs. While the Norwegian team often wear eye-catching pants (their theme this year was love represented by hearts), fashion in the winter games is not limited to the clothes worn by the players. It also extends into the equipment being used by the athletes who play life-threatening sports. Participants in the Skeleton Ride competition wore cool helmets that had designs varying from the American flag to the Bald Eagle. Since the Skeleton Ride is considered one of the most dangerous competition events, the impressive helmets are thought to help instill confidence in the rider and help psych out the competition. Korean Winter fashion seemed to go the throwback route this year because of the participation of North Korea in the Olympics. Their cheerleaders who were an army of beauty and simply perfect in the way they sang and danced wore uniforms that seemed more military and classic in style. Thus, making their participation stand out in terms of flashback fashion at this year’s Winter Olympics.
