Are you interested in learning a new martial arts in order to defend yourselves from them bullies? Well I suggest never trying any of these fighting styles unless you want to make your enemies laugh at you, while they are kicking your butt. There are always people out there that come up with new ideas, like fighting styles, religions, or lifestyles in order to make money from their clients, but I believe that some of these people that will be shown in this video seem to really believe that they actually have a legitimate way to defend themselves and fight. But these techniques are just dangerous, because the student doesn’t learn anything that will actually help them, it just creates a false sense of bravado that will lead to them picking a fight and getting hurt.
I actually learned Tae Kwon Do and it turned out to be useless because the one I learned did not allow punches to the face, which is useless in a real fight, since that is the first thing you are going to see from your opponent and the first things you are going to try to do.

Cobra Kai is YouTube's newest TV original sensation. A sequel to the beloved Karate Kid trilogy, Cobra Kai picks up the energy, nostalgia, and the heart of the original film while bringing us a dynamic new set of characters and story too.
However, very little information is giving to us in the films/show as to what actual styles of martial arts is in play. In this video we will explore the hints and put together what we think are the styles of Karate in Cobra Kai.
All footage of Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid films are property of Sony Pictures.

Martial arts is supposed to be able to prepare you for combat against opponents of all sizes. Against world class opponents however, there are very few historically that can pull it off.
Saenchai is the only one to do it in this era of striking. Often giving up 10-30 pounds per fight, this makes Saenchai the one true giant slayer of this era.
With over 300 wins and riding a 44 fight win streak, he is the pound for pound king in Muay Thai. Saenchai made headlines around the world when he offered to challenge Conor McGregor to a striking match.
McGregor has previously looked down on Muay Thai and it's abilities, but he is not actually aware of what Thai Muay Thai is capable of. For the first time in history, Muay Thai is about to get globally recognized what it deserves.
If you want to learn about historic martial arts technique, and what effective striking is, check out my new book: http://www.LegendaryStriking.com

Nothing pumps up the action in a movie more than two (or more) skilled fighters just going at it. Be it a raw combat or CGI-assisted set pieces, every punch and kick in these fights is a step in an intricate dance. Subscribe: http://goo.gl/9AGRm
What did you think of the list? Did you think we picked the right top 10? What’s your favorite action or martial arts movie? what’s the action hero match up (or team up) you’d like to see? What other topics would you like to see in future episodes?

THE LIST
The Matrix (1999)
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
This movie was jam-packed with awesome fight scenes, but the Agent Smith vs Neo fight in the subway is a the ultimate combination between special effects and hand-to-hand combat.
Raging Bull (1980)
Director Martin Scorsese made the bold and unusual choice to put the camera inside the ring in the final fight with Sugar Ray Robinson, showing the fight from a boxer’s POV.
Ong Bak (2003)
Choreographer: Prachya Pinkaew
The movie that introduced the world to Tony Jaa, and fight choreographer Prachya Pinkaew, this is a full-throttle, no-holds-barred fight - no wires, no effects, just Muay Thai.
The Bourne Ultimatum
Fight Stunt Coordinator: Jeff Imada
This movie makes the bold choice of shooting a fight scene without music, letting the sense of urgency and action come completely from the fighters (and the props they throw at each other, hit each other with, and crash through, of course).
Hero (2002)
Fight Choreographer: Chium Siu-Tung
The Grey Fight between Jet Li and Donnie Yen is one of the most perfect weapons fights ever filmed, elevated by the fact that it takes place entirely within the two characters’ minds… until the end.
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
A nod and send-up of 70s Kung Fu flicks, the Bride takes on an astounding number of bad guys, resulting in gushes and gushes of blood, and a plucked-out eye.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
Fight Coordinator: Yuen Woo-Ping
Director: Ang Lee
There’s some beautiful wire work in Crouching Tiger, but for sheer precision and skill on display, we love the training-hall face-off between Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang
Killzone SPL (2005)
Choreographers: Donnie Yen and Wu Jing
Yen is a martial arts legend, and his fights could comprise a list in and of itself, but this largely improvised fight has to be one of the most impressive achievements.
Legend of the Drunken Master (1994)
Choreography: Jackie Chan
A true classic of Jackie Chan’s work, the final factory fight couldn’t be a more pure expression of Jackie Chan’s style.
Enter The Dragon (1973)
Choreographer: Bruce Lee
We couldn’t go any other way with the #1 on this list. Without Bruce Lee’s incredible skills, and this iconic fight, movie fights wouldn’t be what they are today.

Louis Fan Siu-Wong is a Hong Kong martial artist most recognizable as the northerner Jin Shanzhao in the film “Ip Man”, a master of the style of Kung Fu called Shaobeiquan. His performance won him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards. Besides portraying that same character again in “Ip Man 2”, he also played Ip Tin-chi in “The Legend is Born: Ip Man”. But many also attribute him to his starring role in the campy martial arts cult film “Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky”, a live-action movie adaptation of the manga of the same name, which came out over a decade before the first Ip Man film. Trained in Wushu and gymnastics, he is a talented martial artist and actor. Here's a compilation of my favorite Louis Fan fight scenes.
List of movies featured in order of appearance:
1. Ip Man
2. The Legend is Born: Ip Man
3. Kung Fu Jungle
4. Master of Zen
5. The Death Games
6. Shadow Mask (2001) (Alan Chan Yiu-Lun)
7. (outro) Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky
Other notable films/television series include Righting Wrongs, Immortal Story, Once a Cop, Connected Lovers, Butterfly Lovers, Kung Fu Chefs, Give Love, On His Majesty’s Secret Service, Just Another Pandora’s Box, Ip Man 2, Future X-Cops, Flirting Scholar 2, A Chinese Ghost Story, The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu, Wudang, The Monkey King, The Bounty Hunter, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, Bodyguards and Assassins, and The Bride with White Hair.

Also known as “8 Trigram Palm”, this Chinese martial art is one of the three Wudang (or Wu-Tang) styles having originated in the Wudang Mountains of China. It is categorized as an “internal” style which focuses on redirection of force to turn the opponent’s own strength against them similar to Judo, Aikido, and Hapkido. In contrast to the other Wudang styles (Tai Chi and Xing Yi), Baguazhang can be identified by it’s signature “circle walk”, circular footwork designed to improve one’s stance and movement. Though employing both striking and grappling, Baguazhang seems to be most well known for its palm techniques, particularly palm strikes. Although this could be based on the popularity of those specific techniques or a specific branch of Baguazhang rather than a general characteristic of the martial art as a whole. While not making as many cinematic appearances as other styles of Chinese martial arts, it has however been depicted in well known movies such as “Ip Man 2” (demonstrated by the late Hark-On Fung, R.I.P.), “The Grandmaster” (by Ziyi Zhang), and by Jet Li himself in “The One”. I’m no expert on Baguazhang but a fan of awesome fight choreography so I decided to delve a bit deeper and research some of the films/television series that feature Baguazhang. So here’s a compilation of some Baguazhang fight scenes.

In Haiti, the machete is both a weapon and a farmer’s key to survival. This dichotomy is especially true for Alfred Avril, a master machete fencer and subsistence farmer. The traditional art of machete fencing can be traced back to the Haitian Revolution. With fewer guns than the soldiers they were battling, many slaves fought with the machetes they had used to toil the sugarcane fields. In this short film from Third Horizon, Avril shares his mysterious craft as well as the practical and spiritual value of the machete throughout Haitian history.

►Wing Chun: The Art of One Armed Wing Chun Fighting. Realistically fighting with a broken arm would be extremely painful. So in this week’s video we look at the concept in Wing Chun of using one arm as an efficient form of self defence. How to fight with one arm is more about learning to control the physical space in front of the centre of your body. It’s not about being able to fight anyone with one arm.
This week we take a closer look at the Wing Chun technique known as ‘Wiping Hand’. Wiping hand is commonly used to defend against multiple punches thrown to the centreline. If you search YouTube for Wing Chun videos you will see lots of examples of the technique being used against two punches.
As impressive as these demonstrations can look, don’t be fooled by the simplicity of using this common technique from the Wooden Dummy form. The reality of real fighting is that people will throw punches from different angles and heights, so applying this technique may not be as easy as you think. The second half of our video addresses this problem. We show how to manage distance, angles, and height of the attack punches. We even have some fun in our end card, by showing how absurd using one are can look when someone really isn’t trying to punch you in the face. Read more: http://www.londonwingchun.co.uk/art-one-armed-wing-chun-fighting
Ultimately Economy of Motion is about Using One Limb
In a previous video we covered the idea of simultaneous attack and defence, but this concept does not necessarily have to be applied with two arms. One arm may essentially give you a better coverage, protection and ability to intercept. In fact the ultimate method of applying an interception technique is to use one limb to both attack and defend. You see this when intercepting with a punch to both block an incoming attack and defend. In other words, your punch, strike, or kick achieves both ends, it attacks while simultaneously defends. This is a manifestation of the art of interception in Wing Chun and therefore is considered by many as an advanced form of Wing Chun fighting not commonly seen.
We have lots more videos on how to fight with Wing Chun. Please visit our channel. Better yet feel free to leave a comment or a suggestion of what you would like us to film for you. It does not have to be about Wing Chun it can be about any subject related to fighting, how to fight, Wing Chun techniques, or even Wing Chun vs other styles of martial arts. We are happy to pass on our knowledge and experience free of charge.

Over the next few days, word of Chen's victory against Akutagawa spreads and Chen becomes a local celebrity in Shanghai. Jingwu's students begin to look up to Chen as their new instructor and that incurs the jealousy of Huo Ting'en.
Ting'en and the senior Jingwu members demand that Chen either leaves Mitsuko or the school, and Huo uses the opportunity to settle his personal vendetta against Chen, by challenging Chen to a fight. Chen defeats Huo eventually, with much reluctance and leaves with Mitsuko.
Huo Ting'en is humiliated by his defeat and gives up his position as master of Jingwu before leaving to join his prostitute lover. Jingwu's members eventually discover Huo Ting'en's relationship with the prostitute and reprimand him. Huo learns his lesson and returns to Jingwu.

Jeet Kune Do - Fastest Skilled Martial Arts Fighting Style. Bruce Lee JKD Trap Movements. Bruce Lee founded Jeet Kune Do Fighting Style. It involves trap movements and aggressive fast punches and kicks while simultaneously blocking your opponent. Abbreviated JKD, is an eclectic and hybrid style fighting art heavily influenced by the philosophy of martial artist Bruce Lee, who founded the system on July 9, 1967, referred to it as "non-classical", suggesting that JKD is a form of Chinese Kung Fu, yet without form. Unlike more traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned, and is a philosophy with guiding thoughts. It was named for the Wing Chun concept of interception or attacking while one's opponent is about to attack. Jeet Kune Do practitioners believe in minimal movements with maximum effects and extreme speed. The system works by using different "tools" for different situations, where the situations are divided into ranges, which are kicking, punching, trapping, and grappling, where martial artists use techniques to flow smoothly between them. 7. European Fencing
Swordsmanship in western Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries was an important skill for any young man to have, as most gentlemen of noble upbringing carried their rapiers around at all times and were prone to calling for a duel at the drop of a hat. European Fencing is a surprisingly sophisticated and complex fighting art, producing literally thousands of manuals and guides printed all over Europe. Fencers were known for precision strikes, delicate footwork and full body control on par with any Samurai. Each country and region in Europe had a distinctive style, as well as a different style for a number of swords.
6. Sambo
Sambo is a relatively modern martial art, combat sport and self-defense system developed in the Soviet Union and recognized as an official sport by the USSR All-Union Sports Committee in 1938, presented by Anatoly Kharlampiev. There are three generally recognized competitive sport variations of Sambo: Sport Sambo, which is stylistically similar to amateur wrestling or judo; Combat Sambo which was utilized and developed for the military and resembles modern mixed martial arts, including extensive forms of striking and grappling; and Freestyle Sambo which uses a uniquely American set of competitive Sambo rules created by the American Sambo Association.
5. Nguni stick fighting
The bedrock of the Zulu’s legendary fighting skill is the art of stick fighting in which two Zulus armed with fresh cut saplings attack each other with only a small hide shield to defend themselves. While the sticks don’t cause a lot of damage to the body aside from shallow cuts, being whacked with one is extremely painful and in a fight you are guaranteed to get whacked a number of times. Combat with the sticks help the Zulus shrug off pain and fear, which is the reason they could charge straight into British gunfire without flinching. Famous South African leader Nelson Mandela stated he participated in stick fighting as a child.
4. Krav Maga
This deadly fighting art from Israel had it’s origins on the streets, developed by Jewish vigilantes who defended their neighborhoods from anti-Jewish gangs. Krav Maga differs from most martial arts in being focused on ending a fight as quickly as possible by using “Overwhelming Force”, making Krav Maga techniques some of the most downright lethal of any martial art. Today it is considered a martial art reserved for Military and police use, and is utilized by US Special Forces and the FBI.
3. Jeet Kune Do
Many falsely identify Jeet Kune Do as an Eastern Martial art, but in truth it was developed in America, by Bruce Lee (An American Citizen) because he admired the simplicity of Western fighting styles Like Boxing and wrestling. Tired of the overly complex methods of Kung fu, Bruce Lee stripped combat down to it’s most basic elements when he developed Jeet Kune Do, teaching that the most important move is the one that wins the fight. Many celebrity friends of Lee practiced the Art, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, John Saxon, Jim Kelly and Steve McQueen.
2. Savate
Developed in France during the 19th century, Savate was developed by street fighters who used to put on their old heavy boots and try to kick each other in the head, in fact the word “Savate” is an old slang term for an old shoe. Savate moved from the street into boxing schools and is still a popular form of unarmed competitive fighting in France, known for brutal kicks to the head and face meant to down a man in one blow. Savate schools have also started teaching weapon styles. Typical of a martial art that originated in street fighting these weapons include walking canes, short knives and strangely enough: the wooden chair.
1. Capoeira
A combination of Combat and dance, Capoeira is possibly one of the most beautiful fighting styles to watch. Capoeira started in Brazil with African and Native American slaves who taught themselves to fight with only their feet while their hands were shackled. After slavery was abolished, the Emperor of Brazil deemed Capoeira techniques too dangerous for freed slaves and forbade its practice. The Capoeria community then began to disguise training matches as “Games” and set them to music to look like a dance. To this day Capoeira matches are always set to music and look like a highly acrobatic dance but Capoeira involves many impressive kicks, throws and take downs that can be quite useful in a real fight.

Controversy[edit]
Even though forms in Chinese martial arts are intended to depict realistic martial techniques, the movements are not always identical to how techniques would be applied in combat. Many forms have been elaborated upon, on the one hand to provide better combat preparedness, and on the other hand to look more aesthetically pleasing. One manifestation of this tendency toward elaboration beyond combat application is the use of lower stances and higher, stretching kicks. These two maneuvers are unrealistic in combat and are used in forms for exercise purposes.[54] Many modern schools have replaced practical defense or offense movements with acrobatic feats that are more spectacular to watch Our School don't we focus on practical application, thereby gaining favor during exhibitions and competitions] This has led to criticisms by traditionalists of the endorsement of the more acrobatic, show-oriented Wushu competition. Even though appearance has always been important in many traditional forms as well, all patterns exist for their combat functionality. Historically forms were often performed for entertainment purposes long before the advent of modern Wushu as practitioners have looked for supplementary income by performing on the streets or in theaters. As documented in ancient literature during the Tang Dynasty (618–907) and the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1279) suggest some sets, (including two + person sets: dui da also called dui lian) became very elaborate and 'flowery', many mainly concerned with aesthetics. During this time, some martial arts systems devolved to the point that they became popular forms of martial art storytelling entertainment shows. This created an entire category of martial arts known as Hua Fa Wuyi. During the Northern Song period, it was noted by historians this type of training had a negative influence on training in the military.
Many traditional Chinese martial artists, as well as practitioners of modern sport combat, have become critical of the perception that forms work is more relevant to the art than sparring and drill application, while most continue to see traditional forms practice within the traditional context—as vital to both proper combat execution, the Shaolin aesthetic as art form, as well as upholding the meditative function of the physical art form
Another reason why techniques often appear different in forms when contrasted with sparring application is thought by some to come from the concealment of the actual functions of the techniques from outsiders

Practical Combat Martial Arts

The theory of "internal" Wing Chun Kung Fu makes sense to many - aiming for maximum efficiency in our body structure and movements, so as to be able to effortlessly deliver AND receive force.
But the latter part of this statement (receiving force) is what causes students starting their training to wonder - does this actually work? Can a "soft structure" really stop a determined, aggressive attacker who is throwing committed strikes with all his muscular force?
A theory that does not work in reality is a theory that is hardly worth considering, so in our training, demonstrations, and sparring, we continually test our "soft" structures against hard, muscular force. As we say in our school, "Theory without practice is dangerous, but practice without theory is effort lost".
Most people consider Wing Chun a "close in" fighting style, and many practice delivering force from very close range - the "one inch punch" and "no inch punch" being two examples of this.
But that is only half of the equation - in this video we look at RECEIVING force from as close in as possible. And we do so not just because it is good to practice "worst case scenarios", but also to try and load the dice against the Wing Chun person in the video as much as possible. By having to neutralise committed and hard attacks from a bigger, stronger, faster opponent from less than an inch away from your face, you are forced to find out if your structure is up to the task or not. Under such conditions, any failure to deal with the force or an attempt to resist the force with any muscles or stiffness becomes immediately (and painfully!) apparent.
This method of extremely close in fighting, of having no fear to move in on your opponent and be able to deliver AND receive force from anywhere is what my Sifu, Derek Fung Ping Bor is exceptional at.

10. KRAV MAGA
It’s targeting the vital body parts of the opponent. Violent skills are incorporated into it, and there are no rules for this. This is why it’s not used as sport. It’s mainly for self-defense. In fact, special police officers in Israel and in some other countries use it for security purposes.
9. AIKIDO
A considerable amount of assailant’s energy and strength is needed in this style of martial arts. It was way back in the early 90’s when Aikido was created and firstly practiced it in Japan. The main purpose of Aikido isn’t to give serious wounds to the opponent, but to disarm her or him.
8. JUDO
Such style of martial arts is very popular in Japan since it’s where Judo exactly originates. A brilliant Japanese man named Kano Jigoro was the one behind the invention of this martial arts style. He was inspired to know the basic skills involved in some other types of martial arts in order to come up with the modern-day style of martial arts known as Judo.
7. KICKBOXING
Kickboxing is mainly used for self-defense. Hence, it’s just right for this martial arts style to require extreme focus on the doer. The movements must also be distracting and fast-paced. When there is an opening, you must attack your opponent with kicks, knees, and punches. This is how kickboxing goes.
6. KARATE
Karate actually means “empty hand”. This is named after the nature of this martial arts type, which is performing it without anything in your hands. Meaning to say, any kind of weapon is not allowed while doing karate. It was way back in the earlier days of 13th century when Karate was introduced and practiced.
5. KUNG FU
This is one old martial arts kind that’s practiced in the entire world. As a matter of fact, Kung Fu has been constantly incorporated to a number of Hollywood movies. In the past years, this kind of martial arts was only taught by the Shaolin monks. But today, there are already lots of Kung Fu teachers.
4. BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
If you’re thinking that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu originates in Brazilian, then you’re definitely wrong. The truth is, it is a Japanese kind of martial arts invented by a Japanese fighter named Mitsuyo Maeda. Many people use it as a great form of exercise since it involves a lot of groundwork and throws.
3. NINJUTSU
It is originally practiced by numerous Japanese assassins and warriors. Even so, this doesn’t mean that it never reaches the four corners of the world. In fact, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made it extremely famous in the entire North America. Feet and hands are used in doing it.
2. JUJITSU
Anything can actually go with Jujitsu. In other words, people who are into it can use any techniques in martial arts such as gouging, poking, or even biting. It adds to the simplicity of this particular martial arts type. However, it can be performed well by incorporating its standard attack movements like locking, rolling, throwing, and grappling.
1. TAEKWONDO
Who would forget about Taekwondo? It is done as a great sport and a good form of exercise. Good mental strength and amazing physical skills are required in this martial arts form. Kicks are just normal in this one. Furthermore, Taekwondo is great to be used as self-defense, exercising, or a good sport.

This is a video adaptation of Bruce Lee's Fighting Method Volume 2 - Basic Training and Volume 1 - Self Defense Techniques. Volume 2's warm up exercise content makes it logical to reverse the order of demonstration on video just as if you were attending a martial art class. The first 33 minutes of the video demonstrate the Basic Training exercises and moves in volume 2. The remainder of the video is the demonstration of moves to defend and counter against attacks as Bruce Lee demonstrated in the Self Defense volume 1.
