5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Seattle, the United States. Whether you're seeking a rural or urban getaway, Seattle offers many opportunities for day trips by ferry or car. Secluded islands with quiet bays, villages showcasing Native American culture, serene national parks, and unusual museums are all within easy day-trip distance of downtown. Larger cities near Seattle, like Tacoma and Bellevue, lure visitors with their art museums and international cuisine. Smaller communities along Puget Sound maintain a slower speed - a pace that makes time for boat trips to state parks; discovering fun local heritage; and learning about a few famous connections, be it Jimi Hendrix in Renton or "Twin Peaks" locations in North Bend. Here five day trips from Seattle, Washington. 1. Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands 2. Victoria, British Columbia 3. Olympic National Park 4. Future of Flight - Aviation Center & Boeing Tour 5. From trolls under bridges to an abandoned nuclear waste site. Here are Strangest places in Washington state SUBSCRIBE TO AMERICAN EYE FOR MORE AMAZING CONTENT ! 8. Mount Rainier What might appear to be a beautiful mountain in the state of Washington is actually an active volcano that could potentially destroy the world! While it might be capped with snow and seem dormant, it’s be the location of numerous explosions within the past 500,000 years. It’s last explosion was in 1894, when just minor eruptions were reported. Due to it’s sheer size, it’s easily big enough to produce massive amounts of ash to begin whirling around in our atmosphere. Don’t forget about the massive avalanches that would begin before the initial eruption. Volcanoes that erupt through ice, create what’s known as lahars, or basically melted mudflow of volcanic sludge capable of destroying anything in its path and flooding entire cities. The US Geological Survey shows that Rainier is one of our nation’s most dangerous volcanoes and even the slightest eruption could bring on massive amounts of destruction and panic of the highly populated area of Seattle and Vancouver. They also state that this volcano is certainly capable of exploding with little to no warning. So watch out! 4. Northern State Hospital Sedro Woolley. There’s a pretty creepy abandoned mental hospital in washington state that’s known for housing some of the most mentally ill people in the country! At one point in time, it housed a large percentage who made this their final home and would be where they would spend their final days. At one point, there were over 2000 confined within its wall but this state hospital has an extremely terrifying history. Many of the patients suffered from experimental treatment such as electroshock therapy. This basically meant they would put people to sleep and then electrocute their brain causing seizures. Another procedure that was done here included lobotomies. This procedure includes an icepick through the side of the eye in order to alter the person’s frontal lobe. This normally resulted in them becoming less mentally disturbed but basically a mindless zombie. The crude procedure continued up until the 1950’s! Anyways, the place is completely crawling with ghosts 3. Vance Creek Bridge Hidden behind countless evergreen trees is a treasure that measures 347 feet above the ground. This was at one point the tallest 2nd trestle bridge in the US. It was used as an important route to transport lumber from Washington’s lush forests. Eventually, when the government decided to protect the land nearby and not cut down the trees, the bridge was no longer needed. Legends have told tales of not only the bridge being haunted but also the creek down below. It’s said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman that fell of the creepy looking bridge. At night, there’s been sightings of a woman, floating from the bottom to the top. You call tell from this photo that’s there no hand rails, and a fall down would certainly be lethal. At one point it was a hotspot for instagrammers looking to get a cool shot in order to get some likes. Are like really worth your life? They have tried to implement no trespassing signs in order to deter vandalism and loitering. It’s been sealed up and it doesn;t seem like it’s easy to get in there anymore But, there’s good news. If you search on instagram #thatnwbridge there seems to be recent photos of people there and On clear days, you could see Mt. Ranier in the background. Seattle Underground Seattle is a picturesque city with towering buildings and with many intense sports fans. But there’s another a whole different level deep below the ground you’re stepping on,... june 6th, 1889, the city of Seattle suffered a great first that would destroy 31 blocks . Many attempts were made to put it out quicker but it just kept burning and burning. The city faced a difficult decision. Either clear the debris or just build over it. They chose to build over it and to use this part as the sewer system. However, in recent years it’s become a popular tourist attraction, the parts that aren't used for sewage at least. It took about 7 to 10 year to rebuild the damage that took place from the fire. You’re still able to walk through some of the old buildings and see the bricks that have become the foundation of the metropolis

This video begins in Washington, DC around dawn on May 3, 2018 and concludes at SeaTac Airport in Sea-Tac, WA, just south of Seattle, in the late morning of May, 6, 2018. The drive was 3,084 miles (4,963 kilometers). All of this video was recorded in real-time, but this video is played back at 4x time-lapse speed. (The links to the real-time videos are below, and the hyper-lapse versions of this video will be uploaded at some point.) Nearly all of this entire video was done in the daytime; however, there is about a 20-minute section between Caldwell, Idaho and eastern Oregon done in darkness as it was before sunrise. The states passed through are District of Columbia (0:00:20-0:02:02) Virginia (0:02:02-0:52:00) West Virginia (0:52:00-1:36:28) Kentucky (1:36:28-2:18:16) Indiana (2:18:16-2:44:19) Illinois (2:44:19-3:11:01) Missouri (3:11:01-4:10:05) Kansas (4:10:05-5:34:14) Colorado (5:34:14-7:17:47) Utah (7:17:47-8:27:32) Idaho (8:27:32-9:20:40) Oregon (9:20:40-10:04:18) Washington (10:04:18-10:58:48) The highest elevation of the drive was 11,158 feet (3,401 meters) at the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado (6:22:45), which was also the continental divide. The hottest temperature of the drive was 86 F (30 C) between western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, as well as near Jerome, Idaho. The coldest temperature of the drive was 24 F (-5 C) at Vail Pass, Colorado (6:27:55). This video is a long time coming, but it is finally uploaded. This is the first of many videos I will be uploading in the upcoming months. Unlike the CA-NY video, this video was entirely done in one trip with the same vehicle - a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Also, this video was shot using the Garmin Virb Ultra 30, which records GPS information. The position, elevation, and heading are shown on the video. Since 2/3 of all viewers of my videos are from outside the U.S., I set everything to metric. I plan to use English units for the real-time versions, however. Day 1 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/eD8dJDo86Jw Day 2 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/bo9R9ourxjg Day 3 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/3pi9dy6VGqk Day 4 of this video in real-time can be found here: https://youtu.be/pqFnZxDLxHc

Our family road trip from Los Angeles to Seattle was full of fun! We saw every single capitol on the west coast (Sacramento, CA; Salem, OR; Olympia, WA) and stopped for a little sightseeing in Portland, too (Oregon Rail Heritage Center)! It took us 2 days (17 driving hours, plus stops) to get from Southern California to Kayak Point. Bonus: we just happened upon the Olympic Time Trials for Speed walking! We got to witness the winners learning the qualified to go to Rio 2016!

We had a day trip to Bainbridge Island, Washington from Seattle. I hadn't been to Bainbridge Island in a while, even though I basically grew up in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. My friends recommended a bunch of things to do in Bainbridge Island, so on Sunday morning, I took the Seattle ferry to Bainbridge and met my family. We ended up going to the Bloedel Reserve (a classic Bainridge tourist must-do), getting food at The Harbour Public House restaurant, braving the line for some amazing Mora Ice Cream, walking around downtown, and then stopping by Poulsbo on our way back to the ferry. This was a great way to get away from the city and relax while also exploring the pacific northwest (even though I love Seattle). Cheers to traveling locally and Washington State tourism :) Music by Epidemic Sound: Roll the Dice (Instrumental Version) - Tommy Ljungberg Together We Go High - Johan Glossner

This is the start of my Pacific Northwest trip with Brian from BKXC. We start in Seattle and work our way up to the promise land. On day one, Diamondback takes us out on their home stomping grounds for some trail riding. Thanks to the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance for building and maintaining these amazing trails. Check them out here: https://www.evergreenmtb.org Bike I was riding: https://www.diamondback.com/mission-pro-2517 Hand Pump: https://www.crankbrothers.com/product/view/709 The Pacific Northwest is known as one of the greatest mountain biking destinations in the world, and for good reason. Every day, I read comments from people literally begging me to go there. Let’s do that. Over the next few videos I’ll be riding Seattle, Bellingham, and of course British Columbia. I’m going to the promise land, and taking you guys with me. But first, I need to find someone to watch my house while I’m gone. We met Bryce Wenker, brand manager for Diamondback at Duthie Hill mountain bike park. Bryce and TJ, also from Diamondback, would show us around the Seattle metro area. Duthie was just a warm up. We didn’t have time to ride all of Duthie, but I saw enough. On any trip to Washington, this is a must visit spot for all skill levels. We headed out to some local trails to kill some time before lunch. As more Diamondback riders showed up, we knew we were in for a party. They were excited to show us what Seattle had to offer, and on one of the longest days of the year, we had plenty of time to do it. Bryce ordered food ahead of time so we could fuel up for the next spot—an unfinished trail. Have you ever used paper, or something made of wood? Ever wonder where it comes from? The Evergreen Mountain Bike alliance doesn’t just move ridiculous amounts of dirt, they also work with the government and the public to put land to good use. They’re a model for other organizations around the country, and without their help we wouldn’t have had time to ride so many places in one day. If you want to see all this stuff they’re working on, I dropped a link below. So there you have it, day fucking one. We have Bryce from Diamondback to thank for organizing this huge day of riding, so show and the other riders some love on Instagram. Brian and I set out for the next spot in Washington, Bellingham. Our day in Bellingham was very special, so I’m going to edit it at home after the trip. Next time, you can join us as we cross the Canadian border and visit the promise land. Thanks for riding with me today, and I’ll see you next time.

on this overland adventure travel a couple of Toyota FJ Cruiser, Land Rover Defender 90 and Toyota Land Cruiser BJ60 go off roading through the naches pass to eastern Washington... We all rushed in to support Young Turk's physics experiment fail involving a Hi-Lift jack, his rear window and about six tons of force...want more about this overland adventure??!! See: http://www.lastgreatroadtrip.com/?p=9683 The D90 's short wheel makes exploring this trail easy. The Land Cruisers and FJ Cruiser have a little more trouble on the historic Naches Wagon Trail. But that is part of off road travel. Camping on the Washington back roads in the heart of the Naches area wilderness defines outdoor recreation.
