Here i'm going to show, How to install JDK 8(latest) in Linux 14 from tar file 1. Download JDK8 tar file from java website 2. Extract downloaded tar file in terminal with following command tar -xzf filename 3. After 2nd step move extracted JDK folder to /usr/local, to do this we need to execute following as superuser(SU) sudo filename /usr/local/ 4. Now we need to update java alternatives. Run following commands in terminal sudo update-alternatives --install "/usr/bin/java" "java" "/usr/local/jdk1.8.0_45/bin/java" 1 sudo update-alternatives --install "/usr/bin/javac" "javac" "/usr/local/jdk1.8.0_45/bin/javac" 1 sudo update-alternatives --install "/usr/bin/javaws" "javaws" "/usr/local/jdk1.8.0_45/bin/javaws" 1 # If JPS is not working( If JPS present in jdk/bin directory) run following command sudo update-alternatives --install "/usr/bin/jps" "jps" "/usr/local/jdk1.8.0_45/bin/jps" 1 5. At last, but not least we need to update JAVA_HOME location in .bashrc file 6. Open .bashrc file by following command vi .bashrc or vim .bashrc or gedit .bashrc 7. Add JAVA location like below #JAVA_HOME setup export JAVA_HOME="/usr/local/jdk1.8.0_45" set PATH="$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin" export PATH 8. That's it. Now check java installed or not by following comand java -version For more www.windowsfreak.com Find us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/windowsfreakdotcom

01:58
A short easy to understand step by step Tutorial on how to download and install Oracle's Java 8 jdk on Ubuntu/Linux using a Terminal. Note: The Java Version might change in the future, please make sure you update the version number in every command line. For example 1.8.0_112 to 1.8.0_115 or 8u112 to 8u115 1. Step - Download Note: You may change the link to match newer versions wget --no-check-certificate --no-cookies --header "Cookie: oraclelicense=accept-securebackup-cookie" ht[//remove\\]tp://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/8u112-b15/jdk-8u112-linux-x64.tar.gz (remove placeholder, youtube likes to shorten links...) 2. Step - Unpacking .tar.gz file tar -xvzf jdk-8u112-linux-x64.tar.gz 3. Step Creating Java 8 Installation Directory sudo mkdir /opt/Oracle_Java sudo mv jdk1.8.0_112/ /opt/Oracle_Java/ 4. Install Oracle Java 8 in Linux Part 1

05:25
In this video we going to install JAVA-ORACLE-JDK-8 in Linux Step 1: Add Oracle’s PPA(Personal Package Archive) to your list of sources so that Ubuntu knows where to check for the updates. Use add- apt-repository command for that. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java Step 2: Then update your package repository by issuing the following command. apt-get is a command-line tool for handling packages. sudo apt-get update Steps 3: Then install Oracle JDK 8 using the following. sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer Step 4: Once it is installed successfully, check for the Java version. javac -version Step 5: If you have multiple Java packages installed on your machine, to check which version to use as the default type use the following command. sudo update-alternatives --config java Sample output of the above command With the “auto mode”, highest priority alternative will always be selected as the default alternative even when a new or an upgraded package is installed whereas with the “manual mode”, regardless of the priority, your choice will always be considered as the default alternative until you choose another package. Set JAVA_HOME environment variable 1. First, nd out where Java is installed. You can use the same command as the one we use in step 5 for that. 2. Next open /etc/environment le in any of your favorite editor sudo nano /etc/environment 3. Add the following line at the end of the le and save it. (Replace the value for JAVA_HOME with the path of your java installation directory) JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle" 4. Finally reload it and check whether the environment variable has been properly set. source /etc/environment echo $JAVA_HOME

Installing openjdk-7 on Ubuntu 18.04 That Works!

11:41
Installing openjdk-7 on Ubuntu 18.04 is tricky, here is a link to how to get it done: https://askubuntu.com/questions/761127/how-do-i-install-openjdk-7-on-ubuntu-16-04-or-higher And the instructions, as promised: "It does not look like the maintainer of openjdk-r/ppa will be updating the openjdk-7 package beyond version 7u95-2.6.4-3. That package's description "Copied from debian experimental in Primary Archive for Debian GNU/Linux" gives us a clue about how to handle this ourselves, though. Option 1: Manual Installation Download the packages intended for your architecture: (for most users, this means amd64 if 64bit, or i386 if 32bit Ubuntu is installed) openjdk-7-jdk openjdk-7-jre openjdk-7-jre-headless libjpeg62-turbo libfontconfig1 (only Ubuntu 17.10 and earlier; see note at bottom) fontconfig-config (only Ubuntu 17.10 and earlier; see note at bottom) (Attempt to) install the packages using dpkg: Ubuntu 17.10 and earlier: sudo dpkg -i openjdk-7-* libjpeg62-turbo* libfontconfig1* fontconfig-config* Ubuntu 18.04 and later: sudo dpkg -i openjdk-7-* libjpeg62-turbo* Check the output from dpkg. If there were dependency problems – which is likely – you will see the following (with your architecture substituted for amd64): Errors were encountered while processing: openjdk-7-jre:amd64 openjdk-7-jre-headless:amd64 openjdk-7-jdk:amd64 If there were no dependency issues, great, you're done, skip to #4. Otherwise, if you need to resolve some dependency issues, this is handled with: sudo apt install -f Notice, there is no need to re-run dpkg after letting apt resolve dependencies. It will automatically finish installation of the openjdk packages. Update java alternatives. You can view all installed java versions with update-java-alternatives --list. To activate OpenJDK Java 1.7, run: sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-1.7.0-openjdk-amd64 You may notice an error about the IcedTeaPlugin.so plugin being unavailable. This isn't a real concern for developers working with the JDK. Verify java is working: java -version which should output something similar to: java version "1.7.0_161" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.12) (7u161-2.6.12-1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.161-b01, mixed mode)" ================================================ Welcome to my YouTube Channel! 04:22
