We experienced local life along the Mekong Delta Vietnam for our last day in Saigon. We show you the best Saigon day trip that Vietnam has to offer, traveling by boat down the Mekong Delta and exploring a local Vietnam village along the way. Our trip to the Mekong Delta Vietnam started with a 2 hour luxury van ride to a town called My Tho. Although we don’t normally take public tours, we arranged a small 6 person group tour with Vietnam Adventure Tours. Once we arrived in My Tho, we boarded a private boat to set sail down the Mekong Delta River. The 15 minute boat ride took us across the Mekong river to unicorn island where we explored a tourist area set up to mimic a traditional Vietnam Village. The activities on this island include: Bee Farm and Honey Tasting, Snake Holding, Coconut Candy Production, Chocolate Production, Snake Wine, and a Fruit Farm with traditional Mekong Delta music. Next we got back on the Vietnam boat tour down the Mekong Delta to visit the area of Ben Tre. This is where we got to see a side of a more authentic Vietnam by boating down the river in a small sampan boat. This is one of the best things to do in Vietnam because you get to experience a world away from all development. We wish this part of the Mekong river tour was longer, as the small sampan boat ride was only 15 minutes long. Next up on the Mekong Delta Tour was lunch which was included in our tour and very delicious. We were served a variety of Vietnamese food including fish, spring rolls, soup, rice, morning glory and prawns. The Vietnamese lunch was absolutely delicious! When visiting Saigon Vietnam, we highly recommend you put a Mekong Delta Tour on your list of must do activities. Out of all the things to do in Saigon, this was one of our favorites! A quick 2 hour Saigon day trip away seems like a completely separate world apart from the hustle of Ho Chi Minh City. If you’re interested in booking one of the best tours in Saigon, contact Vietnam Adventure Tours and request Van as your tour guide! The tour you see is the VIP Mekong Delta Tour with a luxury 7 person limo. Most Mekong tours start from $15 USD and go up to $80 USD for a public tour, and private tours are $80 USD per person and up. We hope you enjoyed our trip down the Vietnam Mekong Delta and if you have any questions please leave us a comment! We’d love to hear about your Vietnam travel or plans to visit the area. ►Read 23 Things to do in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam: http://migrationology.com/2015/06/things-to-do-in-saigon-ho-chi-minh-city/ ►FREE eBook: http://migrationology.com/saigon-ebook/ When I was in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), along with eating as much Vietnamese food as I could, one of my goals was to film a travel video about some of the best things to do in Saigon. After putting together a complete list, it turned out to be 23, and I hope this list of attractions will help and inspire you to visit Vietnam’s largest and most exciting city. 1. Binh Tay Market - Binh Tay Market is one of the largest wholesale distribution markets, and a perfect place to go if you’re looking to go shopping in Ho Chi Minh City. 2. Thien Hau Temple (Pagoda) - Located in Chinatown, in District 5, the temple is dedicated to Thien Hau and I really loved the sculptures and the elaborate design of the temple. 3. Museum of Ho Chi Minh City - This museum offers a glimpse into the history and development of the city and Vietnam. 4. Bitexco Financial Tower - This is the tallest building in Saigon, and you can either go to the Skydeck or a cafe at the top for a view of the city. 5. Independence Palace (Reunification Palace) - Probably one of the most well known tourism things to do in Saigon is to visit the Independence Palace, the the former home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. 6. Saigon Cathedral of Notre Dame - With the French influence in Vietnam, the Notre Dame cathedral is a beautiful Catholic church. Attend a service or just visit. 7. Central Post Office - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is an attraction mainly for its design and architecture. It’s a beautiful building. 8. War Remnants Museum - Although this is not one of the happiest attractions in Saigon, it’s a place to remember and honor the horrible events that are a result of a war. 9. Opera House - Right in Dong Khoi area, and there are still opera shows available. 10. Dong Khoi Street - This is the height of high end shopping in Saigon. 11. Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens - The zoo itself is not too great, but the beauty of the Saigon zoo is the botanical gardens, and the lush gardens, and taking a break from the city. 12. FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) - I was quite impressed by the Vietnamese medicine private museum - very interactive and educational. 13. San Art Laboratory – If you love modern art, the San Art Laboratory is a great place to see and visit in Saigon. 14. Turtle Lake at Night - If you’re looking for some things to do at night in Saigon, head to Turtle Lake to chill out, relax, hang out with friends, and eat snacks. 15. Ben Thanh Market - One of the most famous things to do in Saigon District 1 is visit the Ben Thanh Market, one of the major central landmarks of the city. 16. Phu My Hung and Starlight Bridge - Located outside of central Ho Chi Minh City, Phu My Hung is a modern development, and a great place to walk around. 17. Water Puppet Show - Though originally from the north of Vietnam, water puppet shows are popular also in Saigon. I went to the Golden Dragon Water Puppet theater. 18. Museum of Vietnamese History - Probably one of the most extensive and important museum showing the history of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. 19. Rooftop Bar - Seeing Saigon from above offers a great perspective. 20. Fine Arts Museum - This was my favorite of all the museums in Saigon. The museum is housed in a well preserved building, and the art is amazing - located right in District 1 across the roundabout from Ben Thanh Market. 21. Jade Emperor Pagoda - Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, the pagoda has a real ancient feel to it, and it’s worth seeing when you visit. 22. Local Wet Market - One of my favorite things to do is visit a local fresh wet market, which you’ll find all over the city. The ingredients, food, and culture, all stand out at fresh markets. 23. Vietnamese Street Food - By my ultimate favorite activity in Saigon is eating street food, and there are an abundance of delicious Vietnamese street foods to sample. Thank you for watching this video about the top 23 things to do in Saigon, Vietnam. I hope it has given you some great ideas to help you plan your visit. ********************************************************************* Music in this video is from Audio Network Filmed and created by Mark Wiens and Ying Wiens: http://migrationology.com/blog & http://www.eatingthaifood.com/ & http://www.travelbyying.com/ Make a donation: https://www.patreon.com/markwiens Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology Twitter: https://twitter.com/migrationology SNAPCHAT: migrationology ►Get your FREE Saigon eBook: http://migrationology.com/saigon-ebook/

Here you can see the cities where we stopped (south to north) and the distance between each city. 1. Hồ Chí Minh (4-5 hours to Mũi Né) 2. Cần Thơ (Mekon Delta) 3. Mũi Né (4-5 hours to Đà Lạt) 4. Đà Lạt (3-4 hours to Nha Trang + 11 – 12 hours to Hội An) 5. Nha Trang: you shouldn’t stop here – touristy, expensive and nothing special. 6. Hội An (30 min to Danang + 3 hours to Huế) 7. Huế (4-5 hours to Phong Nha-Ke Bang) 8. Phong Nha-Ke Bang (7,5 hours to Tam Cốc) 9. Tam Cốc (3,5 hours to Hải Phòng + 2 hours to Cat Ba town) 10. Cat Ba (4-5 hours to Ha Noi) 11. Ha Noi (5 hours to Sa Pa by bus/8 hours by train) 12. Sa Pa Transport all around Vietnam Open bus ticket We bought our open bus ticket in Ho Chi Minh City at TheSinhTourist office. We were really satisfied with this company. Drivers were nice and reliable most of the times . You can choose how many stops you want to do. You need to reconfirm each bus ride by calling or visiting the counter. Of course it is also possible to book single bus tickets but this way you pay more. Unfortunately the open bus ticket doesn’t include all stops. You won’t be able to reach places like Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Tam Cốc or Cat Ba. So we booked the open bus ticket from Hồ Chí Minh to Huế. All the other stops we made (8. to 12.) we reached by single bus rides or train. We paid 684.000 VND for the open bus ticket (26,50 €/$ 30). By motorbike We met many travellers who either bought a motorbike in Ha Noi or in Ho Chi Minh. It is for sure very beautiful and a unique experience but we considered it as too dangerous. One amazing part of Vietnam is impossible to visit if you don’t have a motorbike: the route between Hội An and Huế (called the Hải Vân Pass). An other option is to travel with Easy Riders: you have your own motorbike rider. There is even enough space to transport your backpack and they organize launch as accommodation. By train Travel around by train is very nice. But take care – never buy tickets online. Just go to the train station and buy the ticket at the counter. The website seat61.com gives some helpful advice how to buy train tickets and how to read a Vietnamese train ticket. In Vietnam there are many people who try to sell you tickets for a much higher price. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT LINKS: Scared of sleeper buses in Southeast Asia? On my final stop during my trip to Vietnam, I spent a full and fulfilling day sightseeing the country's capital, Hanoi. And what better way to decide what to see than with the help of a little fish...! In this video, I go to: 1. The Old Quarter 2. Ca Phe Pho Co 3. Hoan Kiem Lake 4. Temple of the Jade Mountain 5. Hanoi Social Club 6. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum 7. West Lake 8. Tran Quoc Pagoda 9. A Blind Massage 10. Eat a bowl of Bun Bo Nam Bo Why I'm Traveling the World... While the city is sprawling, many parts retain its "old city" feel. I started the day strolling through the Old Quarter, the tourist center of the city where many restaurant, shops, and bars can be found. I stopped by Ca Phe Pho Co, a wonderful cafe with a view of Hoan Kiem Lake, that serves egg milk cofffee. Then, I made a pass around the lake, stopping by the Temple of the Jade Mountain and learning a little bit about local ancient folklore. From there, I headed to lunch at the Hanoi Social Club, a cafe retreat that serves a delicious Western menu. Next I made my way to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, though I could get into the building because it's closed in the afternoons. And then it was just a short stretch to the stellar West Lake, where many people go for outdoor recreation and socializing. In the middle of the Lake is Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest temple in Hanoi. Finally, I ended the day with a blind massage and a delicious bowl of bun bo nam bo! I'd say it was a pretty good day! 📷 My camera: Canon Powershot ELPH 350 HS (http://amzn.to/1OVDyiK) 🎶Music🎶 "Two Short Songs" by WATGOOD, distributed by Night Owl Collective (https://soundcloud.com/nightowlcollective/watgood-two-short-songs) follow WATGOOD: @watgood facebook.com/watgoodmusic DISCLAIMER: This description and comments may contain affiliate links, which means that if you click on a product link, I will receive a small commission. If you're already in Hanoi, you might as well take a car or ride a motorbike to Duong Lam. This ancient village is home to hundreds of old houses dating back hundreds of years. You can even explore and visit a few of them. The village itself has vintage homes that reminded me of possibly traveling back in time. The green fields around that grows rice makes the village even more special. I highly recommend a visit to this place. You can walk around or rent a bicycle. There's even a restaurant nearby one of the entrances too. This is our first vlog from Vietnam. We decided to fly in to Hanoi for our first stop. There we decided that the best way to get down to Ho Chi Min in the south would be to buy motorcycles. The trip is 1800 km long and we only have 10 days to do it. In 10 days we are meeting our girlfriends who are flying in to Ho Chi Minh. music: Ehrling - Mood Ehrling - Chasing Palm Trees https://soundcloud.com/ehrling Intro by EVRYBDY https://soundcloud.com/evrybdy ✩ SUBSCRIBE - https://tinyurl.com/SebbeGustav ✩Youtube Channel - https://tinyurl.com/Sebbe-Gustav ✩ Website – http://ungamagiker.com ✩ Instagram - http://instagram.com/sebbe_&_gustav ✩ Facebook – http://facebook.com/ungamagiker OUR CAMERA GEAR - ✩ Canon 750D - https://tinyurl.com/Canon750D ✩ DJI Mavic Pro - http://a.co/hcWHE3t ✩ GoPro Hero 5 - http://a.co/2sAjtjj ✩ Sigma Lens 18 - 55mm 2.8 - http://a.co/aEwJgjT ✩ Canon Lens 50mm 1.8 - http://a.co/j2WImTA ACCESSORIES ✩ Feiyu gimbal stabilizer: http://a.co/fdzUnOP ✩ Rode Mic - http://amzn.to/2jTxRO4 ✩ Heavy duty Gorilla pod - http://a.co/5KUVKFk ✩ Extra batteries Mavic Pro x 2 - http://a.co/dsPkuNy ✩ BOYA wireless microphone - http://a.co/48uFFEl ✩ Seagate External backup 2 TB: http://a.co/g8hOXXv OUR WISHLIST ✩ DJI Osmo - http://a.co/3i4Z8pc ✩ Canon ESO 1D mark II - http://a.co/5M2TYfZ ✩ Sony Alpha a5000 - http://a.co/iG0bPCI

After four straight days of non-stop travel, I arrived at my final destination before Hanoi: Tam Coc. This area near Ninh Binh, Vietnam is just stunning! Imagine the famous Ha Long Bay with its tall, narrow limestone peaks jutting out of the water, but instead of water, there were lush green rice fields. Also, less tourists... That's Tam Coc! Why I'm Traveling the World... Indefinitely: http://youtu.be/OGGLK4dMeZA Thanks for watching! I wasn't sure if I'd find a place to store my bag, but immediately I saw signs to a place that would take them and rent me a bike. From there, I rode to Tam Coc and found myself surrounded by an emerald dream. The landscape was absolutely stunning! I made my way to Bich Dong Pagoda, the home of three historic temples built into a mountain. Then, I biked along the river to watch the tourists who rented boats float through the countryside. I took a break from bike riding to at Thai Vi Temple, a isolated, quiet retreat in the middle of a valley. And then I climbed up the most stunning view of Tam Coc at Hang Mua, where I got to take in all the the gorgeousness of this beautiful place. 📷 My camera: Canon Powershot ELPH 350 HS (http://amzn.to/1OVDyiK) 🎶Music🎶 "First Snow" by GlobulDub (https://soundcloud.com/globuldub/first-snow) "Distant (Bloom Remix)" by ANTI-HERO & Atura, remixed by Bloom (https://soundcloud.com/nightowlcollective/anti-hero-atura-distant-bloom-remix-1) "Could You?" by dyalla (https://soundcloud.com/dyallas/could-you) DISCLAIMER: This description and comments may contain affiliate links, which means that if you click on a product link, I will receive a small commission. Hanoi & Sapa, Vietnam 28 September - 1 October, 2017 With under 24 hours in Hanoi, we did our best to explore the Old Quarter. Then it was on to Sapa, for a 3-day trek through the mountains, guided by a lovely local named Lou. Day 1- Covered 16km and we stayed at a quaint homestay on the mountain-side. Day 2 -Continued on a further 18km trek through multiple villages and arrived at the lowest point we would travel. Day 3 -We explored the local village, went for a swim, and after lunch, got a bus back up to Sapa city. The 3-day hike - including tour guide, 2 nights accommo and return sleeper bus from Hanoi - cost approx. $75AUD each and can be booked at most hotels/booking offices in Hanoi for similar prices. Day 32- Took a Halong bay 1 day tour cruise from Hanoi, Vietnam. We booked a 1 day trip with Dragon King Cruises and it was an amazing experience. The cruise we booked was among one of the cheapest and highest rated for the experience. We found it at a travel agency in Hanoi and it fit all of our needs and budget. We were able to go from Hanoi to Halong Bay and experience a lot of what Halong Bay had to offer for only 35$, in my opinion that is a steal because Ha Long Bay is on of the most beautiful places in the world. We did many activities in the tour among some of my favorites which were kayaking an underwater cave, exploring sung sot cave, and hiking titop island for some amazing views atop a mountain. Overall really great experience and one of my favorite days in Vietnam. #halongbay #vietnam #halongbaycruise

I went on day tour to halong bay from hanoi. The tour cost $39 for the tour which includes lunch but drinks are charged extra. you will see halong bay where you visit a cave and island where you can see the beach. Great tour if you don't have much time.

And on this day, my friends representing six other countries got together to visit Long Khanh's Chua Chan Gia Lao Mountain, which is off tourist radars. Afterwards we stumbled upon a local restaurant called Ong Gia and had this incredible dried fish salad with rice crackers and tamarind fish sauce followed by a local chicken. It was a great day! Hey guys, Welcome back! Today, I am sharing my Vietnam vlog! If you have any questions about where to stay and where to go, comment below & I will help you out! Scroll down for more detailed info about what I ate and where I went! Thanks for watching xoxo Jessica Tips for vietnam (Danang & Hoi An) 1. for currency exchange, use $100 to exchange because they have a bigger value. 2. any watts work with Vietnam; if you live in the US, or Korea, both plugs will work. 3. when taking a taxi, do not take random ones that look like Uber. Take taxis with numbers on it 4. if you are staying in a hotel or a resort, and you want to grab a taxi, please tell the front desk so they can arrange the ride for you. otherwise, weird taxi drivers will take advantage of you. 5. When you arrive at vietnam (DAD airport), buy a sim card. You will get unlimited data for only $7! (1 week) 6. people here are quite nice. when buying products are the market, negotiate with them! 7. Traffic system is bad in Vietnam. Please watch out for motorcycles and cars! they do not have traffic lights so you will hear lots of beeping. 8. because there are many motorcyclists, it’s easy to get your bags snatched so always watch out! 9. Do not wear sneakers. although sneakers can be comfortable, it is hot in vietnam and birkenstocks will be the best shoes to wear around. 10. WATER IS NOT FREE. At the restaurant, if you ask for water, they will charge you!! 11. majority places will only take CASH. Our Vietnam plan Day 1 - Arrival - check in at our villa - Bana hill (did not get to go. Bana Hill is 1 hour away so we did not have time) - Con Market & Han Market - Near Han Market, there is a Cong Cafe (must go!) - Big C Market (buy some necessities such as water!!) Day 2 - Japanese Covered Bridge (Hoi An) - Morning Glory (106 Nguyễn Thái Học, Minh An, Tp. Hội An – open 11am to 9.30pm) - Hoi An Central Market/ Night Market ( Did not go) - Hoi An Recommendations: - Hoi An Roastery (known for egg coffee) - Morning Glory - Miss Ly (we ended up going here) - Afternoon tea at our resort - Swim at the pool/ beach/ eat Day 3 - Lady Buddha/ temple - Private pool and villa beach time - Banana boat - Jet Skiing - Spa 51 (90 minute spa for $21) - this spa picked us up from the villa for free! VIETNAM MOTORCYCLE TRIP | 2 months! Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi BUCKETLIST: VIETNAM Motorcycle trip. There are those who said this day would never come- TRIPPED buys motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City and sets out for Mui Ne Vietnam. We will spend the next two months driving the same distance as Key West to Chicago The Diemers are joined by Jaime “the Coward” Hobstetter along with his lovely girlfriend Fiona, who is clearly dating beneath her potential. Packing cubes for half the Eagle Creek price. Made by us! http://bit.ly/compressionpackingcubes The group buys Honda Blade motorcycles from Tigit in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam because they offer brand new motorbikes that are more reliable than the crap Chinese knock off Honda Wins that can be found in Backpacker quarters for sale around the city. (Tigit will buy back the bikes in Hanoi). The group also does a bit of shopping to prepare for the journey ahead. Vietnamese roads are a bit crazy with all of the motorcycle traffic, so helmets and proper clothing are necessary. Allison opts for a helmet, kneepads, and elbow pads because she’s careful, while Jaime goes with rolled up sleeves, an unbuckled helmet and flipflops. ----------------- WHO ARE WE? http://www.rustycompass.com The Perfume Pagoda, outside Hanoi in Vietnam's north, is the country's most revered religious site. The landscapes are beautiful as is the temple. The day trip from Hanoi is pretty tightly structured - which detracts from the experience.

My high school best friend Sharon and I decided to book an 11-day trip to Vietnam and Thailand. We did 3.5 days in Vietnam (Hanoi and Halong Bay), and 5 in Thailand! I packed only a carry-on for these 11 days (other days were all spent traveling) so you will see me wear pretty much the same outfit all of Vietnam (don't worry, by the 2nd day, I had ordered laundry service hehe). Vietnam has always been a very special place to me because all my favorite people in my life are from there, I love the food, and its complex history has always drawn me in. Though this was just a dipping of the toes, I'm excited to go back ASAP. It was 50-60s F which was pretty cold for an LA girl like me but otherwise, the weather was prime. :-) I think I spent about $3-4 or less per meal here which is WHY we were PIGGING out aLL the time !! I don't remember a lot of the names of the places we went to so if you know them, please let me know so I can write them down here! I'm heading out on tour again in October 2018 and 2019. Join me on a 15 day journey through the history, culture and unique beauty of Vietnam, using the works of three authors to help us along our way. Our journey will take us to Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Dien Bien Phu, Sapa, Hue, My Son, Hoi An and Saigon. Graham Greene’s The Quiet American, Duong Van Mai Elliott’s Sacred Willow and Nguyen Qui Duc’s Where the Ashes Are, tell three different tales of Vietnam’s modern history. The insights of these authors will give context to this unique travel experience. Our shared reading will help to tell the stories of the places we visit. We’ll travel and read beyond these books too. If you like books and are looking for a special experience of Vietnam, check out our website over at Old Compass Travel - http://www.oldcompasstravel.com/tours/vietnam-by-the-book-15-days-old-compass-travel-book-club/
