FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: apus015053 New York's famous Naked Cowboy may have met his match. George Davis, a body freedom activist who says he is campaigning for a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors stripped butt-naked in Times Square on Wednesday. Davis spoke out against a 2013 San Francisco public nudity ban that was introduced by Davis' opponent, Scott Wiener. "If elected I'll be the first, I guess you could say, out body freedom activist elected in America," Davis said. Davis says nudity is a freedom of expression and took his message to New York to make his point. "New York City does recognize nudity for theatrical and artisitic expression and I guess political speeches are bad theater," he said. After Davis' speech, he conducted interviews stark-naked. Onlookers gawked, laughed and took photos while moving out of Davis' way. Davis ran for mayor in 2007 and for District 10 supervisor in 2010. He has been arrested twice for public nudity.
